This Rite Aid is clearly a victim of the times. Shelves are sparse, entire aisles are empty, and products are extremely limited. But I visited this Rite Aid as I was visiting from out of town and needed to pick up some meds. I was able to get them at Rite Aid easiest, so I went there. The only redeeming quality that I personally experienced was the pharmacy counter. The gentleman I checked in with to get my prescription started was very friendly and attentive. He didn't have my meds filled and ready yet, but did a great job setting expectations for me. As I waited, I wandered the store in almost disbelief that my hometown Rite Aid was visibly struggling. My meds were ready to pickup within the time frame I was told they'd be ready within. So I paid for my meds to then bring my shopping basket up to the front to check out there. I used self checkout, but experienced a scale issue that required a staff member to assist. An older woman with dark hair came up to clear it out, but looked visibly annoyed with something. I couldn't tell if it was me, the self-checkout register, or whatever. But friendly, this person was not. As I left the store, I turned back to tell the employee, "thank you, and have a great rest of your day!" Honestly, I always say stuff like that just to be friendly. But I got nothing from that employee before or after I said it. So remember this Rite Aid management: Your staffed front counter person is the face of your store, setting the tone for anyone's shopping experience. If you don't like conducting business, put your surliest employee up front, which you succeeded in doing for my last visit. As I've lived out of the state for over 2 decades, I don't come to this store more than maybe once a year. So I do fear that this prior visit may have been my last. The Rite Aid down the street from my home in Burbank, CA closed its doors for good 6-months ago. I hope Gig Harbor's Rite Aid has the opportunity to turn itself around. As for their staff, they need to work on the customer experience more to inspire customers to return. Because, again, my own experience wasn't exactly filled with kittens and rainbows. Rite Aid is convenient for me because of its location in Gig Harbor. The associates are generally helpful and friendly. The pharmacy associates very hit and miss.The prices if not sale items are on the high end. The appearance of the store is off putting - empty shelves for many years. Yes, pre-Covid if wondering. The store looks like it's closing its doors. Two self checkouts have been added speeding up the checking out process ~ I am not personally a fan of self checkout, it's both impersonal and it takes away jobs. A CVS in that location would be an improvement, but of course that's my opinion. read more

This is the worst service that any pharmacy has ever given us. I am a pharmacist that worked with Rite Aid for many years and I am shocked at how bad the service is at this Rite Aid Pharmacy. The staff could not care less about helping you and are very unfriendly. I am a local provider and have called in multiple prescriptions and had nothing but issues. They state they never received the scripts and are extremely rude. Today I called in script for my father in law due to his recent COVID diagnosis. The pharmacist, Zach, was extremely rude, He kept commenting on how everyone was going to get COVID because he was in the store. How else is my elderly father in law supposed to get his medicine without going into the store? He had a mask and was taking all the precautions. He kept him waiting because his excuse was " I was too busy to check the voice mails today". Unbelievable that people like this are in the medical field giving such poor care to others. Please use other local pharmacies that treat you with kindness and respect. read more

In the realm of I should have known better, I made an appointment for COVID and flu vaccines with a company on the verge of bankruptcy. Ever the optimist, I arrived at my appointment ahead of schedule, waited in line, was directed to another line and proceeded to wait 30 minutes, all the while serenaded by the the world's worst holiday music selection, played at a volume intended to be impossible to ignore. Staff did not communicate, make eye contact or otherwise acknowledge their tardiness. Putting aside the snark: I understand the world is a different place post-COVID and all of us must adjust. However, communication with customers is never a bad idea, and is the very minimum expectation of service these days. Appointment abandoned, new appointment made with another pharmacy. read more

If I could give it less than 1 star, I would. The only phone number is ringing busy, they keep denying refills of medication, I've run out of my meds consistently trying to fill here. I have to go in, wait 10-15 minutes in line to be told "oh, it isn't ready please wait 20-40 more minutes". My doctor sent a refill on 10/4, I got a text that it was too early for the med,but it would be filled on 10/6. It is now 10/10, and the medication is still not filled. This has happened consistently, they've billed my medications wrong causing more delays. I do not recommend this pharmacy at all. I understand being short staffed, but at some point it becomes borderline patient neglect. read more

Don't go to the pharmacy if you need a prescription filled 4 hours after it is called in. Lines out the door. Waited 40 minutes in line for them to tell me it wasn't filled. Got a text 20 minutes after I left that it was filled and the pharmacy was closed. Doesn't open till 10am. My 6 year old doesn't have his prescription and we have to wait till 10 am tomorrow to pick it up.I'll be calling my insurance company to let them know how you guys do business. read more

Sat on hold for 2 hours just to get an ETA on my med refill. Staff that answered the phone seems inconvenienced by my calling and general question. Pharmacy doesn't answer phone. You have to keep calling until you put on hold. Meds now taking days to fill and only filled the day you call 2 or 3 days after your waiting then after you call they fill it. Its definitely changed for customer service in a number of ways in the last 2 years service is lacking. read more

I've gone here for years due in part to the excellent customer service, but the reorganization/corporate takeover has rendered it useless for anyone who wants to have a prescription filled in a reasonable amount of time. Long lines, empty shelves, and now they no longer answer the phone. I like the staff, many of whom have been there for years, but they really ought to get the merger done with and close. read more

Don't go here!! Every single time I have received a prescription refill here there is a problem. First time, I called, they stated that they only had one of my two prescriptions. I called my doctor and they confirmed they sent it. When I went to pick it up, they had both. Last time I got my prescription sent here I waited a few days and didn't hear anything. I contacted them and they said they didn't have anything for me. I contact my doctor again and they again stated that they had already sent it. A few days later I got a message that my prescription was ready. This time, same thing happened, only I can't get a hold of anyone and it's been 4 days! No message and the new prescription doesn't show on the website. I've been calling for days now and on hold for literally hours. No one picks up, it just goes in circles back to the beginning of the phone menu. So frustrating!! I am now going to call my doctor and ask them to send it to a different pharmacy. I'm officially done. I'm only glad that I didn't need my prescriptions in a hurry or I would have been screwed. Don't these poeple understand that they are dealing with people's lives! read more

Tried to call in to inquire about my prescription. On hold for an hour with no answer. Hung up and called back 2 hours later still on hold for another hour!! Terrible customer service wish I would have known would have had my prescription sent elsewhere. Do NOT GO HERE! My prescription was not ready 24 hours after the promised time. When I called to ask about it (5 calls) no one answers. Whenever I go in there are invariably long lines. DO NOT USE THEIR PHARMACY!!!!! If I could give them 0 stars I would. Every time I have picked up a prescription here I have run into issues. One of the techs even asked me why I'm taking this prescription and told me that I was inconveniencing her. Then another one yelled at me because they filled my prescription wrong and it wouldn't fix it. On top of this after having surgery they wouldn't fill my anti nausea and I had to have someone drive to Tacoma to pick it up. I order a candy bar and they automatically round it up to the dollar to donate towards kids and I didn't ask for that. Next I need a water it's three for five dollars so I buy one bottle and it should be around $1.80. They charge me $2.17 and they said put in the rewards number and it'll bring it down. It didn't they rounded up to the next dollar so now it's three dollars for a 20 ounce bottle of water. So that's more than a dollar extra and they had to try to get a manager there and took so long to do it while people are waiting in line finally I left and said I'll never come back here again. . Well, this is the end of the road. This Crew, This Rite Aid, maybe the Rite Aid organization, has performed so incredibly poorly that We no longer can trust our Health to their burgeoning inability to fulfill our needs. As noted in an earlier review, getting a call that our RXs are in hand is a virtual Guarantee otherwise! RXs are often filled (correct count) with broken, malformed pills that are NOT correct dosage. RXs are "deleted from the system". We are forced to either make multiple trips to have all meds filled, even though ordered same time, even from same doctor, even same as previous YEARS' dosages, names, etc, OR We have to wait more than an Hour!!. Dosages have been doubled, quartered, substituted with other "similar" drugs. We are unable to determine if the bad service is due to Utter Incompetence, Complete uncaring, malfeasance, company policy, or Aliens, as the explanations are different every time, for the same Prescriptions. We had patronized this location for over Twenty Years, but recent increasing failures have finally driven our business elsewhere. We will NEVER return. We will NEVER recommend this Establishment. read more

Its kind of amazing how many useful things you can find at the local Rite Aid, and much of it is priced about as cheap as can be found at any other retailer. From holiday decorations and seasonal goods to hardware and clothing, photo department, household goods, food items, beer, wine, liquor, and of course lots and lots of DRUGS... this place seems to have a bit of everything. This particular store is bright, clean, well-organized, and has some great employees willing to help you out if you ask. If you just need to pick up a few items, this place is just about guaranteed to be a quicker stop than the supermarket or the big-box chain discount store-- it's more like a jumbo convenience store. Tried their pharmacy a few times and honestly will never go back. SO RUDE. Super unhelpful, and honestly I question if the employees have above a 7th grad intelligence. The counter people (especially one middle aged woman whose name I forgot) are really mean and snarky. I automated via their a phone system a refill at 6 am before they opened. It asked when I wanted it filled and I selected past noon to give them plenty of time. It's a VERY simple prescription that requires no pill counting or special orders. When I arrived at 1PM mind you (again, another extra hour) they were SOOOOO rude about it not being done and even went as far as telling me "I should never count on their system to be right or them to be on time. I should always call in multiple times and expect it will never get done unless I do that." Yeah right. How about I just never come back? They're almost always incorrect with their information, and extremely late and rude to the customers about their mistakes. I hoped it was a cranky day in there or something but literally every time I've gone there it happens. Never again. read more

Every time I come to this store I am extremely disappointed lack of cleanliness, and the extremely rude customer service. I have never had a good experience when I have come here. When I go to the rite aid in Spokane Washington it is clean and everyone that works there is incredibly helpful and courteous. Stopped by to pick up a card for my Mom. Total hassle and clerk completed a transaction for a gift card but then stated it's the store policy not to sell gift cards for customers using debit cards. What the? How do you sell them I asked? Cash she said. How many people carry that kind of cash I asked. What happened next was truly amazing. The point of sale showed a completed transaction. She told me she needed to void the entire transaction? I asked how this was possible as my screen showed a completed transaction. The terminal the locked completely. I then requested the entire transaction be voided. The manager tried to get me to go to another register. What a mess. He asked why I wanted to void the transaction. I told him I needed to see a voided receipt. After a while he finally produced a voided receipt. We'll see. Go to Safeway or Target. This place has been mismanaged for years in my opinion. read more

I haven't used the regular part of the drugstore, but I can tell you that the pharmacy is the worst I've seen. A couple of weeks ago on a Friday, my doctor sent them a prescription for meds for me. When I went there they said they would have to order the meds, and asked for me to return on Monday early evening to pick it up. I gave them extra time and showed up on Tuesday, but the meds were no ready because they didn't have my health care info. Not true! I have given them that info on Friday, and they even made copies of it. In the end, after much time, they found my healthcare info and if I would wait for (another) 15 minutes, they would fill my order. OK, so that was bad. Then my wife went there for a similar prescription, ordered them through one pharmacist, who said to return the next day. She gave them 5 days, but when she got there, that pharmacist wasn't there but the pharmacist on duty said there was no record of the prescription and they'd lost her prescription! When the original pharmacist finally called, she told my wife they had not lost her prescription, but didn't have the meds in stock, but but she would be glad to call around to other pharmacies to see who had it. NO, THANK YOU. Stay away from Riteaid pharmacy; go to Safeway instead. At least they seem competent. read more

Average store. But do not over look the wine section! Rite Aid has always had great deals on some wine. You have to go in and check out the specials they have. You can look at the tag for the$30 bottle and you can find it for $6 - $10 depending on the brand and the week. read more

I returned the next day to pick up my prescription, and I mentioned my bad experience to the people who were working that day. They were extremely friendly, very helpful and apologetic, and they gave me the contact information for the pharmacy manager. Apparently the guy who was so rude to me the night before is not a permanent employee--he's a floater who works at various pharmacies--so he must not concern himself with the reputation of this particular Rite Aid. My experience with the employees the second day, though, was positive enough to redeem this pharmacy for me. read more

Note: this review is more about the pharmacy than thw general retail area of the store. If i had written this review a month ago, I would have given this Rite Aid location just one star. The pharmacy has been abysmally inept, slow, inaccurate...just a plain old super unpleasant experience every month when I go in for refills. Why did I stick with it? After the third month I emailed the company and left feedback*. The store manager called me within 24 hours! He was kind and humbly admitted they were experiencing big growing pains. Other bright spots were a couple of clerks in the pharmacy that had exceptional customer service skills. The other employees? Not so much. Really, how hard is it to smile or be polite? Anyhow, I decided to give them a few more chances before pulling the plug. Today, for the first time in EIGHT MONTHS, my ready on time and completely correct. If they can keep this up for a couple of months, I may bump this up to three or four stars. I just dont see this ever becoming a 5 star experience though. * My feedback? 1. A pharmacy tech, when asked by the clerk if my refill was ready, said so loudly that everyone in the longggggg line could hear, "You mean the _____?" I was stunned! He just announced to everyone within 25 feet the name of my medication. 2. Nasty clerk without eye contact sent me back and forth a couple of times between drop off/pick up windows only to find out they had not processed my refill. I'd called it in the day before and it wasn't ready even though I came to pick it up hours after the designated time. A person should not have to wait at a pharmacy for 45+ minutes and still leave empty handed. 3. When trying to enter the store, an employee on break was sitting on the sidewalk right outside the front door with legs sprawled out smoking a cigarette. Washington state public smoking laws prohibit that. I had to walk through a cloud of smoke and practically step over this person just to get into the store. All three of these things happened on the same visit. Fail!!! And just so you know, I tend to only write positive reviews. A business has to really, really suck for me to write a bad one. read more

We were looking for a new pharmacy, because ours had closed. Since Rite Aid is close, thought we'd try them. We gave them all the info to transfer our prescriptions, and they promised to call us if there was a problem. If no call, the prescriptions would be ready next day. No one called,arrived the next day to pick them up; there was a problem; we hadn't been called as promised; had to talk to the pharmacist. Decided to have the prescriptions filled anyway. Finally, after waiting 1 hr, 20 min it was ready. Too many people working in an unorganized atmosphere. Very disappointing. Will not return to this place. Got me once, but never again. read more
