I've been trying to get a medication filled for a while... bipolar medications mind you. They didn't receive it til late it appears. And even then they were confused. I got the message a while ago (few days from my psyche that they sent the RX) I even asked for a bridge. They denied it even though I literally had the script in hand. I waited to write this review until I had verified that this pharmacy was unlike other pharmacies. I had been going to this location for the past 5+ years and it has gone decreasingly downhill, especially in the last year. The pharmacy staff are mostly nice, except for the pharmacist with the glasses who is consistently rude and condescending. If something is not in stock, they never tell you even when it could be medically important. They give varying prices depending on who you talk to and the prescriptions are never ready in a reasonable amount of time. In addition, no one answers the phone and occasionally they pick up and hang up. My new pharmacy has been consistent, communicative and nice and I am SO glad I switched and would never ever in a zillion years go back. I realize they are probably overworked and understaffed but maybe they need to refer clients to other stores in the area. Please do something about location this for those poor souls that remain there. The entire store is inadequately stocked, but the cashiers are all very nice. I agree with most of the reviews that this location should be closed. It just doesn't serve the neighborhood. read more

Poor customer service. The pharmacist was not very helpful. She did not except the GoodRx price and charged us 10 times the GoodRx price.

This place use to be a great place to go for unique and local finds, foods and gifts and a fun stop in every now and then. After Rite Aid bought out Bartells it seems like not only it is souless but like Rite Aid is intentionally trying to kill it off or something. The staff has had significant turnover and the shelves are barely stocked like you are in the middle of the pandemic at a bodega, I dont know how they are making enough money to stay open. The staff are still friendly. Stopped in the other day hoping to see it would be better during the holidays only to find the same situation, picked up one item and realized today they overcharged me by 20% on the one item I bought likely because the shelf tags are wrong. read more

There's no way to get a prescription filled here. They won't answer their phones. Rings for 5 mins then hangs up. Even if it says in queue. And their website just gives error message. Go in and they say only 1 pharmacist on duty. Come back in 5 hours. Plus shelves are all bare. Just close this store already!!! read more

When they were independent they were awesome. I used them to support local businesses. Now that riteaid bought them they suck. Refills used to take 2 days, now it takes at least 5 or 6, their app used to work 100% now half the time my scripts aren't even on it. So disappointed. read more

The pharmacists are so rude. I am young, btw; it seems like this matters because they treated me like a literal child. And have been trying to be as respectful as possible. i moved from chicago to washington, tried to get a prescription transferred that i was told this pharmacy didn't revive even though walgreens has a more functional app that shows it clearly did. i waited over a week for a prescription, called twice where i was told i would get a call back (i did not) and also called and got hung up on, then blamed for it when i walked into the store. then i arrived to the store and the pharmacist acted like i was being impatient (i was... it had been over a week to receive a medicine i take daily and have for the last 3 years and need to function). then, when i walked in an confronted her, and got blamed for the call being dropped, it took her about 15 minutes to do the thing that apparently needed to take a week, and gave me attitude when i checked out when i had a massive smile on my face to just receive the pill. i never in my life imagined for a pharmacist to be aggressive..... they are literally giving life transforming treatments to people every single day. i'm so embarrassed im going to make sure that i never come here again. i hate to feel like i was making someone's job harder. i'm upset because again, i was just genuinely asking question, and trying to make this as smooth as a transition as possible for me and the pharmacy since this isn't there fault, but was met with anger, attitude and drama. :( read more

The pharmacy staff are rude and unhelpful. They tell you an order will be ready in 2 hours only to be ready the next day. I have seen a couple of them very upset while at work and it makes me wonder if it the work environment is toxic (thus their rude behavior). read more

It's okayish. I go here because it's close by and convenient. The employees are friendly although the pharmacy often seems overwhelmed and understaffed. They are also out of many items and some times Rxs take an unacceptable amount of time to fill. If I could rate this place 0 stars I would. My doctor sent my prescription in at 7am I went in at 2pm and it still wasn't ready. They said it would take another hour, I gave them 2 hours and still nothing. Some of this medication is for a heart problem and is pretty urgent. Then they had the audacity to judge me on how much meds I require. Very unprofessional and would not recommend to anyone, terrible experience. read more

Worst vaccine experience ever. We walked in right before 5p. My husband and I were told they weren't taking walk ins anymore today. But if we made an appointment online and showed him the confirmation # they would take us. So we go to the side. Fill out everything online show him the confirmation# and he takes our insurance cards and says it will be about 20 mins. 1 hour later we are told to sit behind a partition and the pharmacist will be out to give us the Covid and Flu vaccine. About 15-20 mins later the pharmacist came out. She has gloves on and is carrying 2 separate trays with paperwork and our vaccines. The area behind the partition is next to the bathrooms and water fountain. Supplies for the shots were directly under the water fountain. This is a public area open to everyone. The area was not clean. Sharps container on the floor. Overflowing trash can. She proceeds to open the drawers to get out supplies for the vaccines. She still has the same gloves on. Touches the dirty drawer and then touches the alcohol pad and the vaccine it self. The she did all the same things with my husband. She did change gloves but then moved the plastic supply cabinet and touched the drawers with her new "clean" gloves. The only reason I did not leave without the vaccines is that my husband did not want me to make a fuss, and he had already waited so long. He just wanted to get the vaccines and go. We will NEVER get anything from that pharmacy again. read more

I frequent this store but I don't think I will anymore. Came in to get some medicine and I ended up spending almost 100 dollars. The cashier shoved my items in a way too overstuffed paper bag. When I got to my car I dug in my bag to get my medicine.... It wasn't there. Went back into the store and stood in line with my receipt and told the cashier that my meds weren't in the bag. There wasn't any apology and he didn't say anything... just tossed my medication on the counter. Really? When he saw it wasn't placed in the bag he couldn't send someone out after me? Or at the very least he couldn't say... hey, sorry about that! Nothing. Sorry to see this place losing the customer service that they once had. read more

I also called the pharmacy, they were gracious and transferred me and again no one picked up. I then called the University Place location and they picked up the phone in two rings and checked on the item for me. All stars for the service at the University Place location!! read more

I have moved all my prescriptions to another pharmacy because since Rite Aid took over they have not filled any of my prescriptions correctly. Today, I attempted to get the shortage of my prescription completed (shorted me) that they filled a few days ago and they refused. They are a rip-off and I had to go to another pharmacy and pay out of my pocket the shorage because my insurance would not pay again. read more

Never been here for the Pharmaceuticals, but should I ever decide to, this is the place. I have asked them about over-the-counter meds and they're helpful and knowledgable. I just saw someone's gripe about their passport photo experience. I recommend you bring in pics you like, and have them resize and print them according to the US Passport requirements. If you WANT them to snap a pic of you, they will, but I'd rather bring in your own camera, they can work with your digital images. That's nice. Just make sure you do the whole white background thing. So, I love Bartell. I loathe Walgreens. And it's not just because Bartell is local, it's because I don't like Walgreens and I do LOVE Bartell. It's fun to shop here. I like the little food aisle "deals", the many, many options for make-up, hair care products, holiday candies, cards (I always get cards here, for all occasions) We love the East coast dude who has been there for at least the 4 years we've gone. He likes to give opinions on edible products, and he's always right ;-) read more

Rude, insensitive slow, mean pharmacist that do not care about the people waiting for their medication. They do not honor certain prescriptions that they are obliged to cover. I hope they shut down this business already and it gets converted to a rite aid. read more

I love this store. I started going here so I could monitor my blood pressure, and catch a clearance sale on candy after the holidays... I gotta tell ya though, the old-town hospitality here is exceptional. The long-time staff here are amazing, and Nick is by far the friendliest, most helpful person you're every going to meet on a Tuesday afternoon. I take my blood pressure more often now, simply because I like the store so much. I also buy my Bragg's ACV here.. (it goes on sale regularly). read more

This BartellDrugs location picks and chooses what medicines it will accept GoodRx coupons for, despite BartellDrugs being specified as accepting them in all locations. They then, refused to transfer the prescription, hoping I guess, that I would pay full retail price. Now I have to go back through my doctor to write another prescription. Yikes! read more

The pharmacy here is very bad. Every time I come here they either don't have my prescription ready after many hours or even days, or they can't find my prescription. I specifically called ahead to make sure my prescription would be ready when I went to pick it up and when I got to the pharmacy they had no idea who I was or where my prescription was. I sat waiting for a very long time while multiple pharmacists asked for my name. I will be switching to a different pharmacy as I am so tired of this happening every time I am here. After 26 years of using this pharmacy we are taking our business elsewhere. Ever since Rite Aid took over there has been nothing but problems with our presciptions. The prescriptions are NEVER ready when we arrive even though we use the automated phone system, call them in well in advance and have a so called "guaranteed" pick up time. If you try to call before pick up no one ever answers the phone. Almost always upon arrival we are told the scripts aren't ready and can we wait? Or we don't have the medication we need to get it from another store, or you already picked up that med even though we didn't. The pharmacy techs are rude, unprofessional and a motley crew of characters including one who wore cat ears and handed me a bag of medication to pay for that wasn't mine. When you ask in a normal matter of fact voice, point blank why is there always a problem? What is going on with your system? I feel like if I don't stand here and watch you fill this script it won't get done, you get disgruntled attitude and your medication is held hostage. Don't use this pharmacy, it's too much trouble. By the way, why are the windows in front of the store constantly boarded up. You're Rite Aid, fix that pronto!! What a blight on 6th Avenue. read more

Horrible....was ignored when I went to drop off. I told them I was new and their attitude changed. Proceeded to tell me that since I was new my insurance may only pay seven days of my pain meds, I just run my insurance, they did, they paid for it all....they filled it and called me up to pay. I feel weird doing a review for a chain store, but here it goes! The staff at this location is AMAZING. Everyone's warm and friendly. The pharmacists are great and when you have a new medication, they actually review it with you. Rebecca, one of the pharmacists, offered me the option of waiting in the store when I had a new medication to see if I had an allergic reaction to it. The non-pharmacists are also lovely. There's one gentlemen who works there named Nick who is fabulous. He treats each costumer like they're his friend and like someone said in another review, it really creates a sense of community. DO NOT GO HERE FOR PASSPORT PHOTOS!!! I called ahead to ask if they did passport photos, and the woman said yes. Later that day I showed up, and the woman said that the Bartell's camera and lighting did not usually work well so she did not recommend using them. The other woman on the phone should have told me this before I came in when. Anyways, I was in a rush, and she said she would take the picture and I could look at it and then decide whether to go ahead and buy it. She got the camera out, but then...guess what...it was broken. Bartell Drug started in 1890 in Seattle. When a company lasts that long, you have got to wonder if they do no wrong. But after several visits, I have been asking myself what they are doing right. I must preface my specific review and state that I mostly visit this place because of their cheap cost of 35mm film processing. Here are the highlights: One visit, I dropped off my film and came back after three hours to discover that they did not even process my film. Although they compensated the cost of processing the film, I still had to make another trip to Bartell's. Just today, I dropped a roll off and the woman who helped me sold me on having prints and a CD of the images made because it would be the cheapest option. But...when I came to pick up my order the man tried to charge me too much, not include the CD, not include the negatives and take over 15 minutes to complete the transaction. The staff must be trained on the same manual that the employees read in 1890. They move at a snail's pace. Without fail, I have to ask for service in the photo department EVERY...SINGLE...TIME. I believe the UPS students and pharmacy customers keep this place in business. I have no idea why a person would pay high prices for cosmetics, candy, beer, snack foods, and electronics. Go anywhere else for anything. read more

Went to this Bartells today, the 1st day stores must require mask wearing. I watched people walk in without masks and assumed the employees were making them cover their faces. When I went inside, the same customers were inside shopping without masks. I'm in a high-risk group and didn't feel very safe. read more

Love this store! I have been going here for over ten years and the employees are always helpful and efficient. I went yesterday looking for something kinda odd for a recipe and the pharmacist was kind enough to help me look in the aisles and suggested alternatives since they didn't have what I was looking for. This pharmacy is so unprofessional and incompetent. Over the last two years they have been pretty consistent in not having my prescriptions ready when I get there or they can't find them. I signed up for text alerts for when my prescriptions where ready and didn't receive any so I asked for them again on two different visits. Still no text alerts or even a phone call or email. They do have no problem blowing up my email with their ads though. Today was they last straw. My husband and I stopped in for flu shots. Waited an hour after we while person after person came in and was waited on. Finally she called us up to the counter and had us wait another 5 minutes while she entered our shots into her computer. Then she can't seem to figure out how to bill my insurance (same insurance I had for flu shots last year). At that point we were done. Told her we'd go elsewhere for the vaccines. I go out of my way to shop here because of the excellent service. Nick, one of the cashiers has the best customer service and remembers my boyfriend and I every time we come in, even if it's been awhile. It sounds ridiculous but we are disappointed if we come to this location and Nick isn't working. He really encourages a sense of community for local patrons. I occasionally shop at a Walgreens that's convenient to my work and the difference between Walgreens and Bartells is night and day. Bartells will always be my first choice for drug store shopping, especially this location. read more

Very convenient location with everything a person could need last minute. Plus, they now have beer and wine, although I think the smallest case they have is an 18-rack. They develop film, have a pharmacy, all the normal stuff you'd expect from a drug store with ever so slightly inflated prices. I just wanted to write and express my gratitude for the staff at my local Bartells. My husband and I have been shopping at this location since we bought a house in the neighborhood twelve years ago. This store has become a mainstay in our lives and I very much appreciate the friendly staff who we have had the pleasure of interacting with over the years. Now is an especially challenging time for retail workers and my hope is that your staff will be comforted and reassured that they have had a positive and enduring effect on the individuals that they interact with in the aisles, at the check out and every time a person relies on the products acquired in their store (be it a prescription, cough drop, or even Albanese gummy worms).
