I deal with this pharmacy daily on the phone for my work, they are always very quick, pleasant, and know me by voice and my doctors by name... I recently became a customer and let me tell you, they are Rx magicians! Not only are they fast, helpful, and personable, they also know their way around insurance protocols and fixing glitches made by bigger pharmacies. Really nice "out in the country" drug store with a LOT more than just drugstore stuff.... they have lots and lots of gifts, a wine department, large selection of toys and sporting goods - fishing gear, nets, boots, lures, hooks, anything you might need. And yes, of course, they have a full service pharmacy at the back with a very large selection of over-the-counter products as well. The store is always bright, cheery and clean, neat as a pin, and the staff are friendly and helpful. We live not too far away and try to frequent this store when we can for the convenience of it - not having to go into Port Orchard or Gig Harbor is a big plus. And as a bonus, it's located at a traffic light to make it really easy to get in and out no matter which way you need to go. Great store in a convenient location. Can't say as I would recommend this pharmacy. It's always crazing busy and the staff is usually not particularly pleasant. My guess it's because they are over worked. They have charged me for drugs that should have been free through Medicaid. While out of town I asked CVS to transfer one of my five prescriptions from Purdy CL to CVS. Purdy CL told CVS they had transferred all my prescriptions to CVS CareMark. In fact they had only transferred three and not the one I was wanting filled. I called Purdy CL to straighten things out and the woman I talked with was rude, very unhelpful and abruptly transferred me to someone else (Ian) without explanation. Ian was marginally more helpful. I have had experience with Ian when he worked at the Fred Meyer Pharmacy and had always had good service from him there. Eventually things were straightened out when CVS called Ian after my conversation with him. When I finally received my prescription (Valium) I need to take a couple just to settle down from the hassle of a procuring simple refill. Bottom line is they in fact didn't "cost less" (at least for me) and their customer service is not where it needs to be in this day and age. Try actually taking the time to listen to your customers and you'll probably keep more of them. read more

I love this little, friendly, & locally owned gift shop and pharmacy! The pharmacy & personnel are the best - their costs are lower than the big box stores; and the personal touch makes you feel important. Yes, they are busy - but they do offer a mail order system if you don't want to wait in line & can wait for your prescriptions. The gifts are so much fun to browse & buy for special people. Cheapest meds with or without health coverage. I paid $9.70 for my script of 120 units without insurance. I now pay $6.70 with my insurance. The lowest price I have found for my prescription was around $18 before I started using Purdy Cost Less Pharmacy. They are fast, cheap, and are VERY friendly people. I've never used the pharmacy at this store but I hear that it's nice. I hope that's true -- but I'm not going to be finding out any time soon, thanks to the service I received from the drugstore, which was... not so nice. "Bizarre" is more like it (with representatives who seem weirdly obsessed with ensuring their customers don't smuggle in any small animals). I don't even live in Gig Harbor anymore and haven't since 2001; however, my parents still live there, which is how I ended up here in the first place. Even they don't stop in to this place very often. But, as luck would have it, I had a small surgical procedure done last month (and spent the night prior to the procedure at my folks' house so my mom could drive me up to Seattle the next day) and -- silly me -- I left my "Hibiclens" soap back home in Olympia. My mom said, "No problem, we'll just pick some more up." Purdy Cost Less happens to be the closest drugstore to their house, so we stopped there first to see if they had the soap. Now, my mom had just adopted a tiny, elderly Chihuahua who rode along with us to the drugstore. She happened to be carrying him as we approached the store. However, we both paused when we noticed a sign on the door that said something like NO PETS ALLOWED INSIDE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! My kind mother was going to pay for the soap (I also didn't have any cash on me; talk about unprepared!) but -- since she couldn't go inside with the dog, and I'd literally just met the little dog, and therefore he didn't quite trust me -- she suggested I go inside to make sure they had the product. Then -- if they had it -- I could go back out, let her know how much it cost, and she'd give me the money. That sounded fine to me. (In case you just skimmed the above paragraph, let me repeat the most important part: my mother stayed outside of the store with her dog.) Sure enough, I found a small bottle of Hibiclens soap inside the store, and it wasn't too outlandishly priced. A cashier who was "helping" me (even though she seemed to have no idea what I meant when I asked about the product) smiled when I found the bottle, said "Did you find it? Good!", then gave me a look like she expected me to follow her to the front of the store so she could ring me up. (Fair enough.) So I explained, "I'll be right back... my mom's outside with the dog, and I just need to get some money from her." Well... I guess the cashier misheard me and thought I said that I had to go get the dog from my mother? (You'll find out why I thought that in a second.) Her response, however, was simply a cheerful, "Okay!" She walked away; I hurried outside the store, got the money from my mom, and hurried back in. Upon entering the second time, I grabbed the bottle of soap and headed for the checkout line. There was no one else in the "line" so I went right on through, and the cashier -- a different woman from the one who'd "helped" me -- went through her "Did you find everything you need?" spiel. I'd barely finished my "Yes" when the cashier eyed my jacket suspiciously. She then asked me (of all things): "Do you have a small dog in there?" "Umm...no," I replied, surprised, glancing down at my jacket to see what might prompt her to ask such a question. Again, this wasn't even the same cashier whom I'd mentioned my mother's dog to in passing. Okay, my jacket was zipped all the way up but -- we live in Washington state! It was about 7 at night, rainy and cold outside! It's not like this was tank top season. I would've forgotten about it a second later if the cashier did. However, instead of accepting my honest answer of "No", she asked me AGAIN, "Do you have a small animal in there?" (Just what did she think I had hidden inside my jacket if not a dog -- which I didn't even have one of?) "Because we don't allow that in here!" she added, continuing to peer at my jacket for... signs of movement? A glimpse of bedraggled fur? A frog to leap out at her? Who knows. I offered to unzip my jacket to show her that I was indeed the only living thing it covered -- and proceeded to do just that. The cashier didn't bother to respond; she just silently finished ringing up my Hibiclens, and told me to "have a nice day." She might have given me one last suspicious glance but I can't say for sure; I was too busy thinking WTF? and wondering if *every* customer gets randomly grilled about smuggling in small animals, or if I was just lucky that day. All in all, it wasn't the worst experience in the world -- but it was definitely awkward enough to merit a one-star rating and to prevent me from wanting to return. Really. Other than my mere mention of my mom's dog to the first cashier, I still can't figure out why the second cashier felt compelled to A.) accuse me of breaking their "no pets" rule, and B.) continue to push the issue when I told her that I hadn't? Go here if you want -- just be prepared for rude questions and DON'T BRING FIDO. read more

Small town family owned Pharmacy. Great service and fast turnaround. The staff works hard. If you just sit and watch, it's really amazing. Like a well oiled machine. They seem to know everyone by name and take special care with the older folks. The owner has supported many less fortunate in the community and does everything he can to ensure those in need receive Thier lifesaving medications. He is humble kind and down to earth. For the other ridiculously defamatory reviews. Your stories don't add up. I will recommend this pharmacy wholeheartedly. Walk up services and efficient mail services. Did I mention how awesome the shop is? Great gifts, collectibles and fishing gear. An eclectic mix of cool stuff. So I do not take pleasure in writing this. Have been a loyal client for over 15years, always had great service that is until the last couple of months (I realize Ian has left ) but no excuse for "misplaceing" faxes and then telling me we don't have it (these were not meds that I could miss.) thankfully I had extra but that was just the beginning. I called in another prescription ( this one was for antivirals hiv) these can not be missed and instead of letting me know they were out of this particular drug once again let it slide with out a call or other form of communication. So now I am without my life saving medication for not one day but three. Nice to know how much you care. Run do not walk away. I AM SWITCHING PHARMACY (might i suggest Pillpack) And new ownership does not work as an excuse. I used to take my residents here from Gig Harbor Senior communities. The prices were fair and they knew some of the residents by first name. When I needed insulin for my dog and was near this pharmacy I stopped and asked for Humiin N. They bagged it, I paid and went home. When I took the insulin out I noticed it was Novolin not Humulin. They had switched the brand without informing me. Since it was cheaper I thought, OK. Then I thought I'd better check with my vet who said it was not the same and that there were known severe issues with switching between the two brands. When I returned the insulin and told them I needed Humulin they said they would have to order it. I feel I should have been informed that what they gave me was not what I asked for and allowed to make an informed decision as to whether I wanted to risk switching brands. The two are NOT the same. I feel an obligation to warn others of what is going in currently in this pharmacy. Rarely do I leave a poor review of a small business, To keep it brief, over three occasions I was overcharged for my medications though I have insurance that does indeed cover the medications. Before reading more, understand the pharmacy knows they charged me more, but they refuse to give the money back. Costless employees stated to me, some very rudely when I asked why I wasn't paying my copay that 1. They are unable to honor people's co-pays, that this is happening to many patrons and not just me, because the insurance companies are 'not paying for' prescriptions. Then, they said multiple times they are family-owned and not some big pharmacy, so they can't afford to 'take hits' like other pharmacies. For other customers being told this, this is the normal cost of business with a pharmacy, so it's rubbish regardless of any sympathy I'd feel were they not practicing questionable billing. Furthermore, they several times stated they were suing the big insurance companies for this, Sadly for them, this will come to nothing if it's true. The insurance company will not reimburse a pharmacy for a medication that cost LESS THAN the co-pay. The pharmacy recoups this by getting your co-pay in their pockets. What Costless is saying makes no sense, though for many who do not understand the intricacies of insurance companies, Costless employees' statements seem harmless. This is why I am leaving a review. Sometimes pharmacies do indeed not get paid in full by insurance, but again, this is not the burden of you, the customer to pay for when you have insurance. More to the point, you should be told you are paying more and have the option to go elsewhere. When you go to your doctor, will you pay above your co-pay because your doctor claims they are having an insurance problem suddenly? No, the doctor's office must absorb this cost or you go somewhere else. At Costless, they now are claiming your 'prescription is not covered without telling you it's not covered for them, not you. I could only speculate ignorance or willful intent. They charge you $20.00 in this hypothetical scenario for a $5 cost for them ultimately making a $15.00 profit . Maybe they charge you less than the co-pay on another prescription like happened to me so it seems like it's evening out. However, in my case, the second prescription cost $2.00 for the pharmacy. Them charging even $5.00 leaves them with still... a net-profit. I am not stating why I think this pharmacy is doing this, but I am informing others to carefully look at their prescriptions if they are paying more. It is not your burden to pay more for your prescriptions even if the pharmacy's business is unwell. The pharmacy staff claimed to me they are informing all customers of their 'insurance contracts problem,' however, I was not told once over three occasions until I came in and had to ask. My attempts to talk to their pharmacy staff were met with some hostility for some reason from several staff even though I was very calm and just trying to understand. They refused to reimburse me. One staff member even waved the book with customer's private prescription information at me to show it was happening to 'tons of people.' It was unprofessional and happened while trying to speak with another staff member. In her defense, she looked very young. I do not recommend this pharmacy. read more

My dentist in Gig Harbor, Dr. Michael Flatley, recommended I fill his prescription at the Cost Less Prescriptions store in Purdy, which was a few minutes from my home in Lakebay. What a find this store has become! The Pharmacy delivers top notch customer service at the counter. Whether or not you have insurance, they will not gouge you on prescription prices. This store reminds me why I patronize local stores ... and that feeling reminds me of back home on Da Island. Went to pick up my moms medication last night to find out that they would not fill, because they were not making enough money on us. They charged full price on one and over charged on the other. Our insurance called and they still refused and told us to go some where else they did not want or need our business. Horrible customer service and rude. Love Purdy Cost Less! My family has been coming here for years. The staff and pharmacist's are Always very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. We have also found them to have the best prices around. They take their time, no matter how busy, to explain how to take our medications,If a medication is new to one of us. They have always answer our questions fully. This pharmacy is also a great place to pick up a gift for yourself or a friend, (really cute selection, about any and everything you can imagine.) Purdy Cost Less is also a great spot to pick up fishing tackle. We come here a lot. Don't know what the other negative reviews are talking about. read more

HORRIBLE customer service!! I stopped by to fill a prescription for my child. The pharmacy tech had immediately treated me rudely for no apparent reason other than she was having a bad day due to a shortage in staffing. She acted like she was put-out for having to help me. As I was standing off to the side, waiting, her co-worker came out and told me that I should complain to the manager regarding how rude and disrespected I was treated. The owner came out to hear my complaint and ended up telling me that I had nothing to complain about and his staff would never treat someone like that. I could not believe how he also disrespected me. I was so pissed I took back my prescriptions and went somewhere else. It's one thing to have poor customer service but worse than that is having the owner of an establishment not hear you out and immediately take sides with his rude staff and treat the customer like crap. My vet recommended this pharmacy when I needed a recurring prescription for my dog but it was located 45 minutes away from my home. So I chose to go to a Walgreens because it was closer. Wrong choice! After paying $85+ for more than three months, I finally called Cost Less. They will charge $45 for the same drug and mail it to my home! Shipping is free the first month, then only $1.80 per month - less than a bridge toll (I'm in Tacoma). Their customer service was excellent and I definitely recommend them! read more
