I live in Little Italy and am so happy that we've transferred our Rx's over to this pharmacy from CVS. The pharmacist is always kind, helpful and happy, as are anyone else at the counters. Way better than than previous pharmacies we've used. This store gets a bad rap because of all the homeless looting the store - emptying its shelves. It's a daily battle, they've tried security at the doors, but for whatever reason they don't have it anymore. They should permanently close off the door on Kettner and create a booze only counter with the liquor behind it, not accessible to the customer unless they are buying it at the booze counter. read more

While in San Diego this was the first place I went to gather supplies for my room. I did stop in here again at least once before departing, so this review will be a combination of the both visits. Coming here I expected more of a selection. It appeared that the wide variety of selection was set for libations rather than other items in the store. For the footprint of the store it seems that there just wasn't enough room in house to accommodate that. Like I said, because the libations took up a solid two aisles. That meant that the rest of the aisles were left to have items fight for counter space. Unfortunately on both of my visits here I did not find what I needed and had to venture elsewhere to get those items. Customer service wasn't too bad here, they were attentive to the needs of those in the store, but at some points they appeared to be bothered to help you at first. It is what it is. I view this more as a community convenience store than a Rite Aid. I suppose if you live in the neighborhood it is better than trekking to wherever to get a quick item. read more

Typical drugstore located in Little Italy San Diego that has all your needs and wants including alcohol! The store is located off Kettner BLVD right before heading into the Columbia district. The employees and customer service are great and provide service with a smile and sometimes even hold the door for you while walking in. The store has your everyday needs including snacks, drinks, and of course your pharmacy. I find myself coming here daily to buy milk for the kids and a nice alcoholic beverage for myself. They have a wide range of liquor and beer at a second to none price for you. In order to get the liquor you desire you must browse through a glass case that the liquor is locked up. Then when you made up what you wanted head to the cashier with all your goodies and tell them what you need. Within seconds the cashier is back with your bottle or 2 and your ready to check out! Make sure you get a Rite Aid card to save on all the perks and benefits they offer and freebies they give out. You can always provide your phone number on the card payment if you lost your card or dont have it on you to get all the great deals! Overall great and convenient place to pick up milk, some snacks and a bottle if your in the area. Customer service is great and I'm looking forward to visit the store again soon. read more

This is a nice location just down the street from the Cruise Ship Dock, the Hampton or the Wyndham. They carry a good variety of last minute things if you are going on a cruise and you forgot something or you want to pick up the allowed wine you can carry on the ship. Prices seem very reasonable especially if you look for sale items. If you ask the cashier nicely and tell her/him you are from out of town they might give you the sale price. I come here often on my lunch break and sometimes on my way home from work. I am always kindly greeted upon entering the store by a member of staff. The store is always in a pristine shape, very neatly organized and clean and I can find what I need easily and in no time at all. I live 2 blocks away from this Rite Aid and I go here for all of my prescription medications, as well as miscellaneous items from time-to-time (such as ibuprofen or Tylenol, printer paper, baking soda, vinegar, etc.). I've always received prompt and courteous service. The pharmacy staff are the best and they had memorized my name and began greeting me personally when I arrived after just my first few visits. I've never had to wait more than a few minutes as I usually go mid-afternoon, when it's not too busy. The same goes for the entire store staff. They're very courteous and efficient at the checkout counters and always call for additional help if the line starts to get long. One last point: They maintain excellent security in this store. The managers and/or security personnel promptly address the occasional out-of-the-ordinary situation (typically an individual acting inappropriately), being respectful to all of those involved, while focusing on ensuring the safety of customers and staff and minimizing any disruption of service. Lately the pharmacy section has been nonchalant about getting my prescriptions in when they don't have them in stock. I purposefully call a day or two before the refill date so if it's not in stock they can order it . The most inefficient store experience ever. Every time I go in there. They have the slowest internet, the most outdated check out equipment and those poor workers deal with a ton of foot traffic. Shame on you rite aid. Give your workers some better tech or more efficient check out processes. They're overloaded. I was in the ER and got out at 830pm, while MY pharmacy CVS were ALL closed due to Covid, even though they are supposed to be 24 hours. I ended up calling Walgreen and ALL their 24 hour pharmacies were closed to. Really, wtf! Who is treating the sick?? Everyone is scared to do their job in the and shutting down shop! Not even curbside pickup?! I finally found a Rite Aid opened until 9pm and it was 840pm and God Bless His Soul, he referred me to a 24 hour Rite Aid! I was out of town and would have slept in my car til they opened in the morning, if I had to, I was in THAT MUCH PAIN! I loved CVS and have been very loyal for the past 12 years and this is how they treat loyal customers. I am taking my business to RITE AID NOW! Just walked out and had the worst customer service. The first cashier never acknowledged me waiting after her last customer. I had to walk up to the counter. No hello. No nothing. She was to busy showing the second cashier a text message. Apparently someone was not coming into work. The second cashier waited on me. Again, no hello or creating. I brought my own bad and she just left my items on the counter and put the receipt on the counter. I had to bag my own items and no"thank you" or anything. I would rather drive to Hillcrest than walk to my neighborhood Rite. Not a fan. I'm a Walgreens or CVS shopper usually because the stores are cleaner, more organized, and typically staff friendlier employees than most Rite Aid locations, including this one. Due to convenience of being the only store of its kind in Little Italy I have found myself here on occasion picking up necessities. I also filled a prescription once but the pharmacy staff is mostly slow, rude, and a bit incompetent. Due to this I have made the trek to any other CVS or Walgreens for my medicine needs. I like this Rite Aid! Most of the team here are cool to me. And they have the best price on candy in San Diego. A quick thing to remember: they card EVERYBODY for liquor and cigarettes; so make sure you have your ID or you'll get denied, even if you have all white hair. Ha ha. Also, liquor sales at this location are only allowed between 10 AM and 10 PM, by law. They usually have a line but move it efficiently and call other staff to help ring, promptly. Yea...living above a Rite Aid isn't conducive to bargain shopping, but wow...is it convenient. Don't expect to find everything you need, but you're sure to find the most random necessities you can imagine. Booze? Yes. Soda water? Sometimes. Snackies? Totally. Questionable clientele? Only the best. The pharmacy closes early and the store is never open past 10pm, since liquor turns into a pumpkin at 10pm in Little Italy. The Pharmacy at Rite Aid is the best. I have had excellent service from the entire staff in Pharmacy. I have had to get several shots there and it was a very positive experience. I was very nervous and I never felt a thing. Very gentle and caring. I also forgot my meds on a weekend getaway and they made sure I could get what I needed at another Pharmacy. The pharmacists and assistant are fabulous. My only problem is they block the aisles when they get deliveries and u can't get to what you need. Also they never get enough of the sale items. Best pharmacy customer service ever. They make it so effortless. I never have to call in my refills and get a text whenever they are ready. And when I run out they will contact my doctor for me. I have never "liked" a pharmacy experience in my life. This pharmacy gets 6 stars from me. They even filled my dog's prescription and gave him a treat when I picked it up. This is hands down the worst Rite-Aid in the nation. Entering this store is a time sponge of loser-ville. Avoid this store at all cost. Visit the CVS down on C street, head to Ralph's or use a 7-11. Do not patronize this store. It's garbage. This joke of a store has the worst customer service in the land. Actually THERE IS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. Disgusting lines wrap clear around the store with zero chance of them ever moving, because the poor management won't load the check-stand. If you've landed here, you have found shits-boro, where you can experience thee absolute worst employees that California has to offer, and that I've personally ever come into contact within the industry, nationwide. The store is always in some sort of disarray or unorganized posture, if you want a crappy store experience go here, I only wish this store didn't have a roof; so I could be tan once I finally left. The lines are always asshole to belly button with people with their gross dogs, pissing, drooling, shitting, growling and snarling at one another, it's like a fucked up pet-store or dog fight with an endless line. It's such a pathetic excuse for a store in every sense, it never has what you need, and if it does it'll take a 1/2 hour to checkout. Half the year they don't run their A/C to save money, an employee told me this. They always refuse to fill the check-stand counter with more than 1 person, this is policy here. It's always been this way since day 1. When the line wraps around the store & runs clear out the door they finally reluctantly and fucking lazily call for backup, it's already way too late. I can't count the times I've just dropped my shit right there and walked out, sometimes I set off a chain reaction and end up walking to 7-11 with 2-3 other people. This place is a no joke clown-fest. It's not like they have a parking lot of people pulling up to use their store! It's locals, vacationeers and foot traffic. The other pathetic thing they do is refuse to have an employee at the ice cream counter, which ALSO has a resister that they refuse to use! Instead they tell you to get in a line of 20+ people to order your ice cream, pay, then walk back to the ice cream counter and have to repeat the order to someone they call over that's hanging around stocking that should've already been behind the register in the first place. Dumbasses. Here's the thing, 8/10 times the employee that actually rings you up at the main counter, then ends up walking around the main fucking checking counter back over to the ice-cream counter, they then have to wash their hands, put gloves on; then they ask you what you ordered AGAIN! They lose so much money by doing this for so many reasons I don't feel like listing, I'm really sure everyone tells them 1 scoop, instead of what they ordered. This is San Diego, it's warm here 325+ days a year, it's an ice cream kinda place, it's a vacation destination. When a customer wants an ice cream, they want to walk inside order a cone, pay and leave! Not be sent into a line with 20 more people doing their weekly shopping with their EBT card. Or the urine soaked bum buying the Popov vodka, that they for some reason still decide to carry. If you want less transients, stop with plastic hospital-grade rubbing alcohol vodka, thanks. I watch bums steal wine non-stop here, all day long they just rip it off, the employees don't give a shit, they should have a corking machine outside for 1 dollar to recoup Lost profits. And while I'm on the topic of alcohol, it used to be behind the counter where you could see it, choose it, and the employee could simply grab it and you could pay and go. Now the liquor is much like the ice-cream, you have to wait in a line for 30 minutes to finally arrive and tell the employee that you need a bottle of whatever and then they let out a sigh of displeasure, have to search for liquor-keys and then walk with you like you're about to buy something perverse, choose it, have them unlock the freedom case and make the walk back, it's about as efficient as an ejection seat on a helicopter. Good job Rite aid. Of course everyone was excited years ago when we all found out that we were going to get a rite-aid, it simply hasn't been worth a shit since it's opened. I plan on calling corporate again and again and again because I detest mediocrity. However this place isn't even mediocre, it's straight ass. I live less than a block away and been forced to shop here since they've opened their doors, only for emergencies or the pharmacy when I need to pick up meds. First I was told what I was looking for is not available in the store - without even checking himself or in the computer. After sending me around different isles to find something similar I started to look for what I need myself for several minutes I went back and the pharmacist was busy making coffee rather then helping me out after I had questions to a couple products I found. Very bad customer service! Please be a little more encouraged and helpful to customers who are looking for stuff. After all I found exactly what I needed since it was on a shelve after all, took only 30 minutes. It wouldn't hurt to come out of the pharmacy in the back and actually walk to the isle with a customer. By far the worst pharmacy I have ever used. The store itself isn't half bad, it seems realtivly clean every time I go in. My issue (and many others here) are with the staff. I use this pharmacy (should I say, used) because they are within walking distance of my doctors office. I have been to this location about 4-5 times to get perscriptions and I have literally NEVER had a good experience. Between the completely incompetent staff, the misplacing of documents, and literally giving me SOMEONE ELSE'S PRESCRIPTION (I have the persons name who did this) they are completely sub-par in every way. I have never gotten any of my prescriptions filled the day they were called in (usually way before 12PM and always make me wait till the next day). Avoid this pharmacy at all costs. read more
