This review is for the pay for parking area. Walgreens has public parking but for a fee and a hefty one too. Its 20$ for 2 hours and 26$ for 5 hours. This is very expensive! To be fair, I feel safe parking ny car here and there are parking spots available. I got tired of looking for parking for 45m during lunch hours. Its impossible to find one on orange or nearby. I was visiting Coronado and walking with a friend along Orange. Since it was summertime, it was quite hot, and at one point, I needed to grab a cold bottle of water. Then, I happened upon Walgreens! I was delighted to find regular Walgreens prices right on Coronado, where I expected a cold bottle of water to be $5 or more. I ended up getting two large bottles for $3 using a Walgreens deal. I just used some W Cash Rewards that had been saved for quite some time, and now, when checking out, I have to start earning my W Cash Rewards from scratch again. I enjoy the occasional visit to Walgreens, where I typically see it as a good excuse to stock up on paper goods, such as Kleenex or facial tissues, which I often run out of at home. I found multiple options for brands, box sizes, ply count, and whether they were soft or had lotion on them. I do enjoy just walking around the store as you never know what you will find. While walking around this time, I noted that this store regularly keeps the aisles looking good and the items in stock, though I also saw employees restocking items and changing price tags in various aisles. When I was checking out, there was one person ahead of me, but the line moved quickly, and once I entered my phone number for my rewards program, my transaction went through quickly, too. The W Cash Rewards program is free to sign up for and easy to use. You earn back 1% in Walgreens Cash rewards storewide, even at the pharmacy, and 5% in rewards on Walgreens branded products. There are also sales prices automatically unlocked and other savings coupons, where you can earn reward dollars by making a purchase after selecting a given coupon. Sometimes the coupons are on a receipt from your most recent purchase. You can also find other coupons on the app or the website (or in a booklet or ad when you arrive at the store). While I do not frequent Walgreens as often as other drug stores, I often wonder why, when I happen to visit a Walgreens store, as it's so easy to shop there, and my experiences are often very pleasant. This morning at 7:30 I came to the Walgreens to get some items and both doors were closed. This store opens at 7, so I was confused as to why the lights were on inside but the doors were not opening. I made eye contact with one of the store associates at the register and instead of acknowledging me, he looked back down. I knocked on the door and he just shook his head at me, indicating he wouldn't be opening the doors. I took a picture of the hours on the window and that prompted him to come outside. He informed me they had had a power outage and were attempting to get the registers back up and working. Understandable. I said thanks and walked back to my car, only to watch more customers do exactly what I had just done and stand by the doors that didn't open. What does it take to write on a piece of paper that the store is currently closed due to a power outage and put it up on the doors? Lights are on, employees are in there staring at you through closed doors.... This place is mismanaged and the employees are SO lazy. I've been in the store many times waiting in a line to check out where one employee is at a register and the other employees are hanging around. Keep in mind they have 4 registers. It might be time to start thinking about implementing self check outs. This store is always very stocked and has a lot of options which makes it a good choice, but I would avoid it if I could. SUITABLE LITTLE WALGREENS w/ limited stock. The Walgreens on Coronado Island has a good amount of over-the-counter items but not near as much as a regular sized Walgreens given the size of the store. The store seems a little messy and needs a revamp in parts of it.. It's weird because some parts of the store (especially the outside) seem very modern and others don't. I was thankfully able to find what I needed and the staff were pleasant. There's a grab-n-go lunch area, pharmacy and teeny Photo Booth with limited access. I think this Walgreens is great for a quick visit but I'd drive to the mainland for anything extra. The charming size of the store makes its an enjoyable stop, I really liked visiting! read more

This pharmacy is in desperate need of new management. I've been a customer since Rite Aid closed, and every experience has been consistently poor. When my physician submits a prescription--or when I request a refill--I receive a text message saying it's ready for pickup. Yet every single time I arrive, the prescription is not ready. Not once. I can understand the reason this store is overwhelmed by the closing of a competitor across the street. Maybe some additional help, if only part time, would make an improvement. Lines are always long & at times. I waited for 30 minutes on 2 consecutive days to order a prescription & then was told it would be ready on the next day. What makes matters worse is that if you attempt to phone in, you are put on hold for a long time. then a message comes up that two callers are ahead of you. Wait again. Message now says 1 caller is ahead of you. Another long wait. Finally a human says "please hold" and promptly hangs up. 30 minutes of my day lost. Half hour later I go through the same procedure. Another half hour lost. Finally I go into the store. Wait 30 minutes in line - was told my prescription will be ready in 25 minutes. However, I could not wait and clerk said it will be ready tomorrow. That never happened. After another long wait of 25 or 30 minutes or so I complained and believe it or not the medication was delivered in 10 minutes. I think I'd rather drive to San Diego and get another pharmacist or go to Optum or Amazon and do everything by mail. Walgreens management: Take a good look at your customers' comments and do something about it. At least improve the phone issue. It's insulting to the caller. read more

Needed 3 months of prescriptions before leaving to study abroad. Went in 5 times over the course of the month before leaving to ask about the status of my prescriptions and every time they told me they were working on them and they would be ready on xyz date (kept pushing fill dates back). Went in on a busy Saturday night to pick up some cosmetics along with my photo order. My husband was with me and dropped a $100 bill by mistake while we were checking out. The manager Rene, and employees Melissa and Reuben checked the cameras, saw him drop it and called us back to ensure it made its way back to us. if i could give it 0 i would. after the pharmacy messed up my perscription twice and made me and my boyfriend wait for 30+ minutes (I had gotten a confirmation a day before that it was ready). The pharmacist then told me they didn't have the full amount. I asked if they still expected me to pay the full amount and she reassured me that I wouldn't. They rung up my prescription and tried to charge me an extra 70$ dollars for a reason that the pharmacist refused to explain other than "that's what we charge" dispite me getting my meds a MONTH earlier for 70$ less. I'm not sure who they're letting work here but she's obviously ripping people off. I hope she is fired ASP for the safety of the customers. read more

This is a great store that has a wide variety of items. Since they are located in Coronado they have all kind of items you don't typically find at a drug store. From snacks, beverages to household aapliances they are worth checkingn out. One bonus is that they have a parking lot on the side of a store which is much easier than looking for street parking. Another bonus is the Navy Federal Credit Union ATM located just inside the entrance. read more

This Walgreens will get the job done - but it's actually pretty run-down inside and was dated. I was surprised for such a nice and wealthy island. They have some touristy items in the back in a nook near the stairway to the customer bathrooms upstairs. Don't worry, plenty of signs to tell you bathrooms are for customers only, I have no idea where anyone uses the restroom here if they don't live here bc no one has bathrooms you can use. Anyway.... they have the usual items and have a pharmacy inside so if you are in need of something during a trip you'll be able to come in here and find something. I came to Walgreens to get some snacks. I ended up finding some Hi Chews which are mostly found in Asian markets but these were one of my favorites. I'm surprised at how small this Walgreens is compared to the one in Chula Vista. I definitely come to Walgreens for snacks or drinks. They carried a wide variety of drinks, snacks ranging from chocolates to chips. My daughter found a pez dispenser of the Jasmine character which came with the candy you put inside. It was on sale for $2.47. If you have a membership with them, you just type in your phone number in the keypad and you get the discounts on the items they have. The more points you earn the more towards your cash reward. I have a lot of points to redeem to get $5.00. This location is more of a convenient store because it's so small. It's descent and has what you need if you're on the go. They have their own parking lot in front. I'd definitely come back if I was in the area. read more

The pharmacy is a mess and is managed in a very amateur way, especially when contrasted with the professional and efficient team across the street at Rite Aid. I went in at 9:15 AM to pick up a prescription that had been transferred at 3 PM the previous afternoon. In the small, dumpy pharmacy there was only a pharmacy technician on duty and available to the public. She proceeded to tell me a variety of excuses that the prescription was not yet prepared. I truly expected to hear "the dog ate it". Given the small, dingy and dated renovation of the previous location (a pet store), perhaps this poorly managed pharmacy experience is to be expected. read more

This pharmacy might be the worst I've ever experienced. It's always something. Today I went in at 12:18 for a script that was called in around 8:30 AM. It wasn't ready. The fork said 10-15 minutes. Keep in mind it's a lotion that needs to be plucked off the shelf. We arnt counting pills. Finally after 18 minutes I say if it's not ready I need to leave for work. They say they had to change the manufacturer? Then. I see the girl just waive the script at the girl at the counter with kind of am annoyed manner. Like they are annoyed I'm annoyed I waited 20 minutes. So I left without the script. These people move like snails. Zero sense of urgency. Nothing is ready. If you want brand name you get generic. I've told them a dozen times there's one brand of a script want and every time I get another. No attention to detail. The manger needs to light a fire under these people's asses. read more

A convenience store on the island, located on the main street, Orange Avenue. In the front are: gift cards, ready-made foods, a v-day/seasonal section in the next few lanes, pharmacy on the left side of the store, and all the typical items you find in a walgreen's store- snacks, souvenirs, greeting cards, convenience items like toiletries, etc. I had a last-minute gift to buy here, but I was with my husband (and yes, you guessed it, the very person, I was buying something for) and son so I shooed him away while I was in line for the checkout. Quick process as there were few customers inside. There are few chains here on the island, so this is a convenient place to visit. There are no 7-11's here. For as long as I remember Walgreen's was a regular shopping trip when we were kids growing up. Back then, there was also Thrifty's (ice cream was so cheap too). There was no Target or Wal-Mart during those times (1980s). K-mart was the store that you were embarassed to be caught shopping in, by your friends. Nowadays, only get things that are on sale or that are on special with store coupons, for trips to Walgreens. read more

This Walgreens Pharmacy, located on Orange Avenue in Coronado is usually communicative, organized and well stocked. The staff are friendly and always helpful. That's when the regular staff is there. Unfortunately, Walgreens rotates staff around sometimes for a reason I don't understand and at those times it is very frustrating. Mistakes are made. Efficiency slides along with friendliness and then my comfort level along with it. All tolled though, it's still my go to pharmacy. read more

Very nice staff, the lady behind the calendar Julia was extremely helpful, got my kiddos water bottles for school, 2 nice ones for only ten bucks on sale. Walgreens is my favorite go-to neighborhood drugstore, so I was really excited when a new store opened up here in Coronado... just a block away from home! It is much smaller and limited in some available products than the Point Loma store where I usually shop at, but they carry enough of the basics to get by with: paper products, water, OTC meds, snacks, etc. It's especially convenient to have their full-service pharmacy and one-hour photo department nearby that both offer such friendly and competent customer service too :)) Their generic brands are also comparable to the pricier name brands. And, finally your purchases even earn points and can easily add up to reward you with $5 for every 5000 pts earned! read more

I really only go to drug stores for one reason: drug store makeup. This Walgreens was quiet, clean, and the workers were friendly, but most drug stores have a large selection of newly released makeup and this Walgreens did not. It was a very small section and although well stocked, unlike some other stores, there wasn't much to choose from in terms of what brands they had new releases for. Probably won't stop by here again, unless I'm in the neighborhood and need something other than makeup. read more
