Three stars for another CVS! Yes, I'm a long-time shopper! Where there is a CVS, Shayne will be there! Location/Ambiance: *Convenient downtown location, about a 14-minute walk from Cortez Hill and close to the trolley and Ross. *Be aware of your surroundings as there are many suspicious eyes, transients, and homeless people. *Prices are a little friendlier than 7-Eleven and some other neighborhood markets. *Larger, well-stocked, and reasonably priced especially when using your CVS coupons! *The outside is worn and not particularly inviting, but the inside is bigger than expected, and what I call "organized chaos." *Most items are locked up especially the snacks I frequently buy. Felt like a treasure hunt looking for my usuals. *There was a good selection of snacks, drinks, and CVS essentials, though the grocery section is limited and some of the aisles felt cramped. Customer service: *Staff were friendly (one cashier and one I saw on the floor). They were quick to assist me. *Self-checkout was easy (3 machines); stress-free and in/out in 10 minutes. It's the best option if you're in a rush. Overall: *Nothing special, but it's convenient, generally well-stocked, and gets the job done. I can only give 1 star. The pharmacy texting system is the most annoying thing in my life. The constant requests to refill non-monthly prescriptions is so ridiculous. Every week they text me about the same prescription. They need to add an option of No and don't ask again, instead of just Yes or No. read more

Came here looking for makeup removing wipes and false lash strips. This CVS is only a few minutes away from the hotel I am staying at and is super convenient. Most of their makeup products are locked up but staff is super friendly and will open for you if you ask. I was able to find both of the items I was looking for and opted for self checkout. read more

Urgent need to speak to pharmacist? Not CVS, their IVR ( auto phone operator) is useless, confusing and a waste of customers time. I need to speak to human pharmacist, not waste 15 minutes to get nowhere. Used to be great service, now it's useless. Hopefully I can switch pharmacy with my new insurance. read more

Easy walk from our hotel to pick up travel essentials that we missed packing. It is one level, on the smaller side of other CVS's, but all the essentials were there. The employees were helpful, and we were able to check out easily. read more

On Saturday, August 19th, l shopped for the essentials before the storm and ran into some challenges. DANIEL and JACKSON worked overtime to try to solve my problem. i went to cvs pharmacy this morning as i was going to work i scanned my item a pack of cookies for 2 dollars and something cents i went outside i noticed they had charged me 8 dollars for my item this was at the self checkout then i told the young cashier and she got a nasty attitude with me like it was my fault then she started telling other customers that she didnt know what was wrong with people. the manager alma came i explained to her they had over charged me she took the price of the cookies off gave me a reciept and left im like what wheres my cookies and my money she did not communicate with me. i went back in she said i thought you didnt want the cookies first off all does that sound like being overcharged? Then within a few seconds shes lost the receipt for the cookies which she had to go look for it meaning she probably threw it in the trash. i was 20 minutes late for work because of their unprofessionalism the young cashier was not only mad at me but at other customers as well. I have noticed in the past that thier have been angry customers coming out of there its them the crew there dont go here please i got yelled at because they took my work money omg read more

At this pharmacy when we first went, we asked where the makeup aisle was but the customer service lady was rude and horrible. She wouldn't show us and she was being extremely condescending and passive aggressive the whole time. Never coming here again!! read more

i never do yelp reviews but i felt this was necessary. The store is poorly stocked with anything the homeless are running wild it doesn't help that it by a train stop and the fact that you guys are locking more things up is ridiculous. The mangers would rather gossip and talk about their workers than actually help you. The only pleasant thing i encountered was the cashier she greeted with a smile when i came in and told me to have a beautiful day when i left and I appreciate how she took her time to help me i don't remember her name because i dont have my receipt anymore but i do remember she had braids. read more

It's a CVS so not really special however we went in during comic Con for some snacks, staff was super helpful, manager was on the floor helping and directly customers to the right area for what they needed. Downtown CVS open late - if you have a CVS card you can find some deals here (24 pack of water was just $4), though if you buy something heavy, they don't have bags/handles for it like a Target or similar. They have a liquor aisle which was half-closed off - I assume at some point it is closed at night/weekends for alcohol sales. Open late nights, so useful downtown if you need something quick. They were washing down the sidewalk outside, too, heavy smell of bleach. read more

The location is not pretty from the outside, close to the trolley and everything that comes along with that. However it's convenient for those of us that live in Cortez Hill, bigger, more stock and slightly cheaper than 7-11 and the markets that are closer by. This CVS is actually quite large inside, there's a pharmacy in the back, and lots of aisles of snacks and food, as well as all the normal CVS stuff. They have a bunch of self service check out counters and usually one person on a register. read more

Well laid out - and surprising large for a downtown location. Extremely friendly and helpful staff.

I went in for a few travel items and I went up to the checkout stand when the representative told me I could use the self checkout. When I said that I prefer to have someone check me out and that I didn't want to use a self checkout. She said that she could help me with it. I asked if that was my only option and she smiled and said yes. So I left my stuff on the counter. It was approximately $35 worth of items and I was very disappointed at this level of customer service. I know people like the convenience of self checkout at but I am not getting a discount or employee benefits to check myself out so I would much rather someone have a job to do it. I called customer service and they said they will get back to me in 24-48 hours... read more

When you need prescription to be filled don't use this pharmacy. The pharmacist/staff at the pharmacy are rude and not very helpful. Idk what is going on with this pharmacy, it used to be friendly and helpful ??! Transfered all prescriptions out of this pharmacy today and informed all my family members to do the same. read more

This is a rough location. A ton of homeless/transients and crazy stuff going on. If you are a tourist I'd recommend staying away- there are other less problematic locations than this one. I believe a big part of it has to do with its proximity to the trains. Staff here does their best and is always nice and helpful. I really feel for them because they deal with a ton of crap- I've seen some wild stuff go down before. Same goes for security they're all nice and have to deal with a lot of BS. It can get crowded at times and there's a whole situation going on with their alcohol in a certain aisle and idk what else that seems to upset a lot of people so be aware of that if you're coming in to purchase alcohol. If you're brave and can tough it out it's a decent location for quick errands but it's not for everyone. read more

I like this cvs location because it has more to offer than the rite aide across the street. There is a chase ATM, self checkout and large greeting card section. They have a great seasonal holiday section. They have frozen foods and lots of candy. A lot bigger than it looks from the outside. read more

Was visiting a friend downtown and happened to pick up some lubricant. Upon doing so, 2 guys in the isle stopped me to ask where I'm going and if they could come too. Ugh..men need to stop with that creepy thing. Felt actually a bit scared but they didn't follow. Upon exiting store a homeless that looked to be troublesome started walking with me asking for money. I'm sorry I can barely afford my room I stay but please don't demand with a threatening tone to give you money. Security guards just on phone nearby, doubt they would even save me if something happened. On a side note it was worth the trouble to get lube lol read more

CVS C Street is a guaranteed "I'm pretty sure I've never seen that" episode every time. With it being positioned right on the trolley tracks on C Street & 5th, you definitely get a bunch of characters that come into the store and loiter around outside. As for the store itself, it is a clean, well put together store for the small space that it has. If you need any last minute something or others, they have it and also a pharmacy if you need prescriptions filled. There staff is extremely helpful and accommodating, which is a nice change of pace from other locations overall. From what I hear, they are about to go through a remodel soon, which will present itself even better through a layout and cleanliness as well. They don't sell alcohol until 10am, so if you are interested in a vagrant free experience, anytime before then is optimal. read more

I come into the store on average 2-3 times a week. The store is always well clean, well stocked, and great selection. The employees are helpful without harassing you. The Pharmacy has always been on time for me and very well informed about any medication questions I may have Plus they have Vanilla Coke?! read more

I came in here looking to get a drink when I was approached by a person with blonde hair and painted nails, I believe his name may have been Francis. He made my night, he was super helpful and funny. I worked retail and there's no way I could have been that cool during a long shift. He helped me pick out exactly what I was looking for and talked to me about a few other items they had that could satisfy my palate, then at the end he helped me figure out the self check out haha. All in all one of the coolest experiences I'd had just going somewhere to get a drink. read more

Seriously i just came here cause i know they sell "free and clear" dye and fragrance free laundry detergent, well the one by my house does. I went into the down town location asked for help. I was looking for my normal detergent cause i didnt wanna make an extra trip to henry's when i knew cvs carried it. Hurrah it's a brand new CVS downtown! I love all the brand-new drug stores that have been coming in downtown! Longs... this one. I've been literally waiting a month and a half for this CVS to open (It's in the 525 C St shopping complex along with FedEx). You see, the nearest pharmacies/drugs stores to my office are the stinky hobo Rite Aid on Fifth (across the intersection from this new CVS) and the tourist nightmare Longs in the Horton Plaza Mall. That's hardly a choice at all. I have pretty much resigned myself to purchasing dry goods from faceless chains, but it pisses me off when they don't keep their store fronts in step with the people who partonize the store. Maybe the C st. corridor was "Hobos only" fifteen years ago, but now it's a pretty upscale place, and this enormous CVS is the drug store we all deserve. Clean and well-stocked (compared to the one on Market Street) but uptight to a comical degree. I'm a manual wheelchair user so I wear gloves while rolling around town to protect my hands. Shortly after entering, I slipped them off and stashed them in a net beneath my chair. Security was on me in twenty seconds making sure I hadn't just stolen something. To the female employee's credit, she asked me a in a respectful manner what it was I had just stuck in there but the expressionless it-rubs-the-lotion-on-it's-skin-then-it-places-it-in-the-basket..or-else-it-gets-the-hose-again-security guard was a little off putting. In addition, I was here a few years ago with my wife. It was a hot day and, after buying some water inside the store we waited for the trolley outside, basking in the shade. A CVS security guard came up and asked us to move closer to the trolley area to avoid confusion. Wasn't a big deal until he radioed HQ to inform that he had just removed two transients! This CVS pharmacy was very rude to me after they messed up my order. I normally use the CVS in PB, but because they were out of my medicine, I decided to use this CVS instead. First I called ahead and asked if they had the medication I needed. The person on the phone said yes they did, without going to check. I then transferred the prescription through the online refill system. Well, when I went to pick up the prescriptions, they were not filled. They told me that since my insurance didn't cover them, they didn't fill them. Well, I knew that my insurance didn't cover them; they are over the counter medications that I have prescriptions for so I can pay for them with flexible spending. (Also, they were refills and they had never been covered. But did they think to check that? Of course not.) So I was told I would have to wait. I went to sit down, and about fifteen minutes later, they call me up. Are my prescriptions ready? No! They are out of the medication. The same medication the person on the phone told me they had! Well, I am annoyed by this and I tell them about my phone call. Rather than simply apologize, and hopefully in the future learn to actually check to make sure they have something before assuming they do, they turned confrontational on me. The pharmacist told me that the only two people that had been there that morning were him and this one other woman. They both said they didn't talk to me. (And not nicely either, very snotty). Then they suggested that maybe I had not called the pharmacy, but the store. I told them that was only possible if pressing 4 to speak to a pharmacy employee didn't go to the pharmacy. (Somewhat snotty myself at this point). As I was leaving, I realized that I had said I called "this morning." But actually, I had called at around noon. So probably someone else was working then. But either way, all they had to do was say, oh I'm sorry about that instead of being jerks. In the future, I will not be going to this CVS pharmacy, although I will probably still go to the rest of the store, which I have never had any trouble with. There is a Rite Aid across the street where they have better service in the pharmacy. read more

Extra star for being opened earlier than normal for me (6am!). Allowed me to get my cough drops and Zicam before a big conference. Just like your typical CVS, clean, staff was immediately available at the front counter. I thought the liquor aisle with it's closing gates was neat! Maybe this is common in San Diego, but was new for me. Nice part of town too. Can't speak about the pharmacy, but for my needs, their shelves were stocked! read more

The staff at this Pharmacy are professional and nice. No complaints about staff. My issue today.. (This has happened more than a handful of time).. I have bad allergies. Always in that isle purchasing meds and Flonase. The mananger has the Flonase nasal sprays locked up in a case. No other brands. Just Flonase , the one I need of course. So I press that annoying button " help needed in the allergy Isle".... no one showed up. I pressed again. Nuthin. HELLO? Anybody? WTF!!!!!!! I. Look. I get why they do some things. The homeless population downtown is no joke but... if your paying customers can't get to the products needed due to lack of security. (Put the damn Isle away from the door), there's a thought. .. otherwise.. why sell it at all. This is., no joke.. the 7th time this has happened. No sales for you. AGAIN. Fix the issue. I'm sure your sells are down since you barricaded those products up. Frustrating as hell! read more

This downtown CVS location is perfect for those who work or live down here and don't want to drive for basic necessities. It's one of the cleaner stores around in the area too. They have everything from band-aids to ice cream. I've been known to buy the random things like Easter peeps and heartburn meds! I really like the refrigerated sections when I've forgotten to bring lunch. The pharmacy is also great! They are fast, friendly, and efficient! Check out lines are never long especially with the self checkout lines. I always am able to find a clerk to help find what I need. This location does have beer, wine and liquor just in case you are throwing a pre-party before going out downtown! read more

This is my favorite CVS. It's high traffic, so there is usually a line, but the helpful security guards (got my teeth whitening stuff out of the locked cabinet) and very friendly staff (a young lady named Cassandra provides EXCELLENT customer service) keep me coming back to this location. They help speed up the self service checkouts and keep the lines moving along. Very nice. read more
