Throughout the years I have enjoyed this CPA immensely she is honest, frank and doesn't make me feel like I have to go to her every year, which I have been. Some years, I don't even talk to her I just drop off my paperwork for my taxes if I don't have any questions. When I gather my paperwork together, it is all nice and neat and in order, and I complete all the applicable other paperwork. I have a couple of rentals so my taxes probably aren't the simplest that there is. For the past 2 years I have been looking around to see what other Tax services may have to offer. I always come back to her regarding costs, reliability and convenience. Last year, during tax time I was noticing chatter on our neighborhood social site and they were talking about tax accountants, it made me cringe looking at what people were saying regarding prices and the service that they were receiving. I even did a couple of online searches looking for a Tax Accountants but to no avail. They either couldn't do it, or the prices were so much more than what I currently pay.

Kirk Merrill and his team have been helping me and my family with our taxes since 1995 when we first moved to Seattle. When I started my own business in 2005, Kirk was very instrumental in providing valuable guidance and support. Since that time i have recommended them to other firms as well and everyone has had nothing but good things to say about them. Kirk and his team are very knowledgeable and are able to work with both private individuals as well as Corporations. So the diversity of expertise is phenomenal. We have had no issues with invoices and when we need clarification on anything the response is very prompt. The team is always proactive and very responsive when needed. Like any firm in the services business, collection is paramount to be able to pay your employees and be solvent. So if they make efforts to collect from individuals or companies who are not prompt in their payments, I cannot blame them for it. Our experience has been very contrary to the other posting on here. Due to a forced 401k distribution/rollover/tax withholding, etc, I was a little unsure about how to handle it. I had an idea through research on the internet (and multiple LLM conversations), but I wanted to talk to a CPA or Tax person to confirm. I sent out a bunch of requests on Yelp to get quotes for a conversation that I estimated would take no more than 15-30 minutes just to make sure my understanding is correct. I got a bunch of replies ranging from $100-$385. Somebody even said I needed to complete an engagement letter to have the conversation! CBX CPA sent me a message in the middle of the night with a very detailed list of what I needed to file on my taxes and my son's and what to rollover. He also gave me his number and said, "Give me a call any time tomorrow..." No quote. Just good and clear advice on what to do. He even followed up with a second, "Sorry Mike, I forgot to add..." email and an example of what he meant. I currently do not need any other accounting/tax assistance, but if I did, I would call out to Cristian -- not because he's necessarily "any more right" than any other CPA -- that's why they are Certified: so there is consistency across the industry and a minimum knowledge about the rules so any good CPA will give you more or less the same answers, conservatively, even though they may differ depending upon how "creative" they are in interpreting those rules. I would call out to Cristian because he clearly values *MY* time and money -- not just his. I like to do business with good human beings who, to some degree, treat business like it's part of a community and not just a capitalist market. Recognizing that my need "wasn't a big deal," and taking a few minutes to type out the solution (*with detailed instructions and even sending a follow up email because he thought of something after he finished the 1st message*!) with no request for compensation speaks more volumes about him as a person than people who have paid for the service, in my mind. He's giving his expertise to answer what he felt was a simple question (but it wasn't so simple to me) out of the goodness of his own heart after evaluating whether or not he needed to charge for that expertise. This isn't common place -- I sent out 15-20 requests via Yelp describing my problem in detail and 60% of responses said "I'm too busy," and all but 2 of them said, "here's a quote for $100-$380." Two CPAs took time to write me actionable information, and CBX CPA's was the more detailed (though both were thoughtful and good). If he can be this complete in answers for a person who isn't paying him a dime when he has a CPA and it's tax season where he could for every minute, then how complete, thorough and diligent do you think they will be for a paying client? He didn't take my money so the least I could do is take the time write a truthful review and make this recommendation: If you're like me who wants even business relationships to be more than transactional but also with a person with grace who will help you out when the only self benefit being that he knows he did a nice thing for another human being when he could have charged for it and willingly been paid, then if you need a CPA, take the time to give Cristian a call to win your business.

I currently do not need any other accounting/tax assistance, but if I did, I would go to Apex -- not because they are "any more right" than any other CPA firm, but because they clearly value *YOUR* time and money -- not just theirs. Recognizing that my need "wasn't a big deal" for their level of expertise and taking a few minutes to type out a solution with no request for compensation speaks more volumes about the business than people who have paid for the service, in my mind.
