I've read horror stories of other experiences post extraction so i'm very happy that I went with Dr. Ekarat for this procedure as he knows what he's doing. It saddens me to write this review due to my very short interaction with Dr. Erakat. I brought my…read more15-year-old daughter into Dr. Erakat's office to remove her wisdom teeth for a consultation. I did a lot of research on dental surgeons in NJ, and we were impressed with his reviews and expertise. Unfortunately, Dr. Erakat's lack of bedside manner and professionalism has deterred my daughter and me from moving forward with the surgery with his practice. Dr. Erakat walked into the room and immediately started to talk about my daughter's dental images. This was our first time at the office, we'd never met him before, and a preschooler would've known to walk in and at least say, "Hi, how are you? I'm Dr. Erakat" then lead into your spiel. So he came in and started talking at us, talking as if my daughter was an adult like I wasn't in the room, and he never checked to see if we had any knowledge about anesthesia or the procedure in general. After he finished talking at us, I looked at him and said, "Hello, nice to meet you," to give him a hint that he was shrewd and rude. Dr. Erakat spent maybe 5 minutes with us in total. He was very short, especially when I informed him that my daughter would be having a deviated septum surgery and asked him if there was a preference to have one of the surgeries before the other and the waiting period between surgeries. I've worked with and have seen an array of doctors, and unfortunately, Dr. Erakat was one of the rudest I've encountered. If the person going to perform surgery on my child can't give her the time and attention she deserves to make her feel comfortable, I don't want them anywhere near her. We will NOT return nor recommend this dental office. I don't know if Dr. Erakat is just really busy or if he didn't want to work with us. Either way, we will find a dentist that greets us, takes the time to explain the procedure, and someone who actually wants to work with us.

I got charged $300 for someone to look at my tongue for literally 5 minutes. I was never told they do not participate with any Healthcare providers. I know their response will be that they made me aware of this at the time of making the appointment but that is a complete lie. Also there is nothing in the paperwork saying that I would be responsible for any out of network costs. I have great insurance that has $35 specialist co pays, why would I waste my time out of network? Very poor business practice on their part. As I was clearly upset about this ridiculous charge I was met with a young lady talking to me with a smirk on her face like I was a moron and they were completely aware they got one over on me. If you value honesty and upfront business practices look elsewhere.

Dr. Levine is unethical and does not care about the well being of his patients. If he did, he would…read morehave suggested I keep my wisdom teeth embedded in my jaw when my incompetent and careless orthodontist referred me to him again for wisdom teeth removal. Not everyone needs their wisdom teeth removed. For some, the risks don't outweigh the benefits. I had a rare and complicated orthodontic case with 4 premolars removed and then when I was 14, Dr. Levine did surgery to expose my 4 impacted canine teeth. At age 18, I questioned Dr. Levine about whether I should get my wisdom teeth removed - shouldn't I try to keep them? Finally he doubtfully said I could try but that I'd definitely need braces again. He is not an orthodontist, and if he were being honest, he would have told me either way I would need braces again. After feeling ashamed about my teeth for my entire adolescence there was nothing I wanted less than to have braces again. That convinced me. That was stupid, they're called wisdom teeth for a reason. I now have gaps in my upper teeth that opened shortly after my wisdom teeth was removed. I remember the last time I saw my pediatric dentist, which was a few months after I got my wisdom teeth removed, he said he was EXCITED about my wisdom teeth. I said quietly I got them removed. Later, I was in the chair and he was looking at my mouth, almost looking to see if my wisdom teeth were growing in when I complained about the gap that had opened up between my two front teeth. He said OH, that will close up when your wisdom teeth grow in. Well, then I made it clear they were gone and he had a horrified look on his face. He was clearly upset this was done to me. My upper 2nd molar is now twisted out toward my cheek on one side because there is so much space behind it where my wisdom teeth would have likely grown in fine. When I go to the dentist, they lament "you poor thing" "what happened to you" and pity me. Thanks to Doctor Levine who did not care enough to give me good advice and instead chose to line his own pockets. Dr. Levine was trained as a dentist was and he knew this along with jaw issues would happen to me. Now that my brain and jaws are fully developed, I realize I was treated like I was done growing at 12 years old and this gave me the false idea that I could never be enough. He loves ripping peoples teeth out a bit too much. He chooses money over the health of his patients. Doctors will lie and give unsound medical advice for money and to make their jobs easier. Dr. Levine is in on this corruption. I suggest avoiding this place on principle.

I was in search of a surgeon who would remove it and scheduled an appointment with Dr. O. (as the office staff refer to him). I have never been treated so disrespectfully by a professional in all of my 66 years of life on this earth! Every statement he made was a direct insult in response to my telling him that the bone loss was causing the implant failure. He told me 'you are just repeating what you heard. We all have bone loss. You have no idea why you are in pain and it shows a lack of intelligence for you to say you know what it is! It could be something else'. He was cold and callous and expressed no compassion for the fact that I have been experiencing intermittent pain for 10 months. I walked out of that office humiliated and dejected. I cried on my way to the car and needed 10 minutes before I could compose myself to drive home. I have since gone to a periodontist who told me the answer was simple. As I already knew, the implant needs to be removed and a bone graft done. I believe I was a victim of sexism and ageism by this 'so called professional'. Also, Jaret, his assistant who was very kind to me prior to the doctor arriving, just stood by and seemed unphased by his behavior. I have taken the time to write this as the public needs to know. Thank you for reading.
