I signed up for my first class and had to walk out after 2 mins because I felt like my ears were being assaulted. It was like thinking you're going to a meditative space and ending up in a crowded loud nightclub Very sad about this because I love the aesthetic, the candles, the amenities. The person who checked me in was really nice and kindly gave me a refund. I understand that many people like the music: different strokes for different folks. I don't expect the world to adjust to my preferences. But I do appreciate clarity in advertising. The calm aesthetic - and the fact that it's YOGA - led me to expect music, yes, but gentle music. I wish studios would explain on the website that it's not a traditional yoga vibe but one that is meant for those who enjoy loud strong beats. Such an interesting concept for yoga/wellness. Love that they give you all the equipment, hair ties, water bottles, towels, lotions, everything that you need! So nice to be able to just head out the door and have everything already set up there. It's not really yoga but if you like a workout class with loud music and overall team/high energy this could be the spot for you! The Hot Yoga classes are really fast - a good workout if you can keep up but I always end up sliding around the mat. I really enjoy the Yin classes! I'm a big runner and they're great after a long run to stretch out! The instructors are great with the hands on assists to help correct my form and deepen my stretch. I use ClassPass when I go because I'll say the membership is really expensive for what it is. I think you can use your HSA to pay for it if you get permission - but it's still too much for my budget. Definitely worth it for me to go once in a while with my ClassPass credits tho. read more

Ritual has become a crucial part of my life. I started taking yoga this January as a novice and immediately felt welcome & supported. Now over 250 classes later, I've learned so much and my body feels stronger than ever. The classes truly are all-levels and the teachers are good at providing modifications and assists. Truly, it's almost a problem how good & kind the teachers are - I want to take classes from all of them every week! The student community is also excellent. I've learned a lot from watching more advanced students and they can also be really encouraging. If you're on the fence, try it! If hot yoga sounds scary either because you think you're out of shape or because you're new to yoga, you could always start with the Yin class. It's still hot, but it's more stretchy and meditative and slower paced. read more

Was hoping to join a class through class pass, but they were already at maximum, so I paid the $34 and attended with my friends. I was a little apprehensive because that is a pretty steep price for a drop-in rate. However, I am so glad I came here. I took a Sunday 6pm Ritual Yin with Jayde and her assistant (Anna, I think). This was an extremely relaxing experience. I loved being enveloped by the heat while I stretched. Plus, there are multiple adjustments/mini massages that help you melt into your poses more deeply. At the end, they place a cold towel with essential oils on your forehead for your final resting pose. Overall, I was very impressed with my experience and will return. read more

Ritual hot yoga changed my life! I joined back in February 2022 and I've never been to another studio who provides the same level of care, attention to detail, and variations of classes. I've raved about it since joining; I absolutely love all of the staff & began with Nicole, Alyx from River North, Frances in Lakeview and Steph. Taryn, Ana, Genevieve are all so amazing. You truly cannot go wrong between any of their classes. The hands on adjusts are KEY to my love for the studio ‍ grateful for their teachings and helping me connect with myself on a deeper level. I've been going here the last few weeks and it's awesome. Ridiculously hot, sort of like torture but in a good way. I feel good after every class. The instructors are so talented, best I've ever had, and I've been to many hot yoga studios. The studio is so clean and organized with all the amenities you could want, and it really does feel luxurious, plus the hands on assists and in-class massages are so good. I have been coming to Ritual since the year it opened. I was originally looking for something to cross train for my marathon training and my sister-in-law brought me here through Classpass and since that very first class I was HOOKED! I knew once I was done with the marathon I would start coming more often. Once the marathon was over I was going through Classpass and I quickly realized I wanted more more more so I became a member!! I've since ran 2 marathons using Ritual as my cross training but also falling more and more in love with yoga as a whole. So much so I signed up for my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training through Ritual! The community is so loving and warm and welcoming and kind. I've seen so many other members outside of class and it's like running into your bff. Every single teacher is above and beyond. I cannot say enough positive things about these teachers. Knowledgeable, passionate, kind, encouraging, enthusiastic to name a few. Since starting this yoga journey I have tried quite a few other studios wherever I travel and throughout Chicago. I would say the biggest difference is the studio is thee hottest I've ever been in. Also the pace tends to be faster than most. Then flowing to the beat of the music and curated playlists. These are huge factors that made me fall in love with it and what makes it such a unique experience every single class. Fresh and unique. Seriously a home away from home. The ritual yin is one of my favorite classes. It's an all around a wonderful experience from the hosts (who are always super sweet, welcoming, and accommodating) , space (perfectly dim and extremely clean with any toiletry you may need), yoga room (at the perfect warm temperature and candle lit with all mats already placed), and instructors (they always have such a relaxing tone, provide clear instructions, and offer modifications to accommodate all levels). read more

Tried ritual for the first time, and let me tell you it certainly is unique. Everyone in the facility is supper accommodating, and kind so you will not feel too frantic. I took the glute class at 6:30, and I was dripping. I literally had to walk out twice so be prepared. Thankfully everything in the studio is included so all I had to bring is myself. I started going to Ritual through my ClassPass membership, and I am so excited to come here at least weekly now! The first class I attended was one of their Ritual Yin classes, which I think is a great starting point for beginners as it is a lot slower paced, more stretching and meditation focused, and you can get used to the studio first. The ritual yoga class is a lot more challenging, and even though I am a relative beginner to yoga, I left this class feeling motivated to improve and learn more, which I think says a lot about the instructors in the class itself. There are instructions for each level, and because the lighting is dim and the class itself is challenging, I never felt shamed or like I wasn't getting a good work out if I needed to do modifications or take a breather. Again, I feel like for beginners some group fitness classes can be demoralizing, but I don't think many people leave Ritual feeling that way! The studio itself is beautiful. They have everything you need to feel prepared going into your workout, and things like very nice showers and changing rooms to get yourself ready for your day if you need. I will try to come as often as possible because I can't get enough of this space and practice! read more

I hate to write this review but ritual is just okay... just got done with a class where the teacher literally read every instruction off a piece of paper for an hour straight... think bad rapping "breath in level one touch your shins, breath out level two touch your toes, breath in listen to your body, breath out..." So monotone and impersonal. It made me feel that the teacher was never trained to teach yoga! I love the potential of this place so much... But the yoga instruction is just so poor. I usually go here for the hot room and adjustments but even those were so bad tonight. Truly pains me to write this review. Ritual please hire better teachers that can teach... they need to be able to look at their students and provide verbal adjustments based on what they see. Also, you don't need to go through level 1-4 instructions... It's an odd style of teaching and just confusing. read more

I always forget how much I hate Ritual's classes, then I go back and am reminded. I used to be a member, I stopped going because even as someone who is a hot yoga enthusiast (3-5 days a week, 90 min traditional "power" classes), it is frickin IMPOSSIBLE to keep up at these classes. It's just not a yoga class--it's an aerobic-yoga-pilates/fusion-SOMETHING, ANYTHING... but it's not yoga. There's zero to little room, time wise, to familiarize yourself with anything going on. It's too dark to see anyone around you to try to go off what they are doing, and the instructors are barely audible over the (annoyingly loud) pop remixes. They also add no humidity to the room, so it's unlike a regular hot yoga class, it's like a dry sauna. AND... I hate their overused mats, which have been used so many times there's no longer knee/ankle protection. Just go to CorePower if you want a gimmicky chain experience, this place isn't it. read more

The facility itself is very nice, and the instructor was nice enough. I liked the showers and bathrooms and the fact that they provided everything you need - mats, towels, straps, etc. The practice itself was not to my liking. In reality, "breathe to the beat" simply meant rushing through flows at a breakneck pace. This isn't what I think of as yoga - more like a workout class in a sauna. I didn't feel satisfied after leaving like I usually do from a yoga class. There's little opportunity to focus on the actual poses. Although I'm not a total beginner at yoga, the class isn't beginner friendly whatsoever. I'd suggest toning down the pace to accommodate for wider ranges and allow for more focus, rather than jumping from pose to pose at 100 bpm. EDIT: on second thought, my original rating was a bit too harsh. If you are looking for a sweaty movement class, this is a good option. Just not what I particularly like or was looking for. read more

There's something so special about this studio. I have been coming here for the last couple of years and I will admit, at first, I was intimidated by the class. The dark room, the loud music, people doing head stands... I was only really taking advantage of the yin classes and sound meditations they offer each month. Once I started going to the regular classes, its changed everything for me. To have an hour where I don't have to think, as much as listen to the instructor and to my body and move in sync with breath and rhythm to music is a real gift for me. Ive been to other studios before but at this studio, I have never felt stronger, I have never seen so much growth in my practice and I have never advanced in poses this far anywhere else. The instructors are incredible and so, so kind. Everything about the studio aesthetically is so intentional and easy to access, they literally provide everything you need which is so rare to find. I clearly can't say enough good things about this place, I feel so lucky to have a safe space like this in my life. read more

I've been to three hot yoga studios in chicago in the past 3-4 years and this one's easily the best in the city. I've been coming to this one for a year now. The instructors will push you pretty hard but never make you feel bad for taking a break or walking out. I recently moved to Chicago and was fortunate to have stumbled across Ritual and can't recommend it highly enough! Fantastic instructors, challenging classes (with 4 levels for the more complex poses which makes it more accessible if you are newer or just getting back to yoga), and a very welcoming + friendly environment. You don't need to worry about bringing a mat or towels because they are all supplied already which is super convenient! So I found this spot on ClassPass and fell in love. I picked up a 10 day pass from the studio and then decided to do an unlimited pass. Everyone is so friendly, from the people who work there to the people who take a class, it's a joy to show up. I won't lie--my initial impression before going seemed like maybe I'd be self conscious or wouldn't fit in but it's been such a game changer. I've seen such a swath of Chicago in the studio and it makes me so happy. I'm not one to be in just a sports bra and leggings but I feel comfortable in that while sweating my peach off in the heat. They turn the lights down and you can be in your own world and focus on your practice. They provide everything, you snap a fresh towel over a mat that lives in the room. You also pick up a sweat towel and sometimes props like blocks and straps. They also have reusable water bottles you can use if you didn't bring one and a filtered water dispenser if you did. The teachers always give the option at the start of class to opt out of massages/adjustments/touching by asking those to hold their hand to their heart during meditation or they can pick up a battery powered tealight before class when picking up props. They give a nice little massage at the start and end of class and then at the end a cold eucalyptus scented towel. I've done yoga for time to time so I know some stuff but I'm out of practice. The regular class is fast paced and I've had to take a beat every so often when it gets too intense. They do advanced poses and inversions but give you a 4 level option for most poses. I've never felt weird or conscious having to pause, the classes are intense. I also didn't/don't know all of the poses but they're easy enough to pick up by watching the teacher demonstrate or other people. I do like learning new stretches so it's fun when one surprises me and their yin class is my favorite. On Fridays they do kombucha and if you drink champagne after classes. Things to note: they burn incense, they use oil for the massage, the right side of the room seems to be the hottest, they have lockers where you can set a private code and big enough for a backpack, they have showers, towels and the shampoo/conditioner/soap isn't awful. Each teacher is unique but the classes follow a rhythm so you can start to tell where you are at which is useful when a class is particularly kicking your keester. read more
