I've been here twice using Class Pass and have loved it each time! It is one of my top yoga studios in the Wicker Park/Bucktown area. The staff and instructors are so welcoming and friendly, and they have such a calm and cool vibe. I like that they like to check in/chat with students before/after class, and they are just so nice. I've taken the Wednesday and Thursday evening Zen Vinyasa classes (unheated room), and it's exactly what I was hoping for! It also was populated but not crowded which was great (though I can't speak to other days/times). I had Angel as an instructor both times when they were subbing for someone else and I really enjoyed it! Angel has a simultaneously soothing and strong voice (in the best way for a yoga class) that is great for motivating students during class and I love their inspiring words and playlist that begin and end our classes. The studio itself is cozy yet spacious enough to have multiple rooms for various classes and a lounge area in the center with lots of comfy pillows and a coffee station. I see people hang out there and it makes it feel like a community vibe. I like that there are lots of hooks, hangers, benches, and lockers in the front and back of the studio and in the actual bathrooms/locker rooms so it feels like there's plenty of space to place your things. Pleasant and pretty studio, Asher is an excellent instructor. I enjoyed his Zen hot class as it was fun and challenging. The lockers and couches are nice. Unfortunately, both times I have come here there has been music playing throughout the entire session. Not ambient instrumentals but whole entires songs with lyrics and bridges and choruses and stuff. And not very good ones. I personally cannot focus on the words of the instructor or my breath and body with tacky lyrics being pumped into my ears. I come to the mat to cultivate focus and presence, and I find it impossible in this space. This place is definitely for someone, but not people who are sensitive to noise or enjoy a more traditional yoga practice. Much love. read more

The instructor was amazing, very calming voice and a great class for all levels (the zen yoga burn I believe). The energy in the room was great. The only issue was space. I'm not sure if it's like this on a typical week day but I went on a Saturday and the room was PACKED. Literally 2inches between each person. If there was more space, I would go back. read more

I've given it a try 4 times and two classes had music which was way too loud; one had peaceful music but was way too loud, the other was a HIIT type of class, but again, the music over-consumed the teacher's voice. Chicago, IL - In town for a conference- the conference sponsored morning yoga classes with Sierra (apologies on spelling). Such a luxury to have a class every morning right at our hotel. Both Sierra - who taught the classes- and the staff member who organized the equipment were warm and friendly. They even offered free one week passes back at the studio. The classes were held in a smallish hotel conference room. The team brought clean - and fresh smelling - yoga mats - and very chill music. This definitely set the atmosphere. The class was only 30 minutes but it seemed longer in some of the poses ha ha. Sierra also offered adjustments if necessary which was super helpful. I would definitely recommend attending a class and would return when I'm in town again. read more

But there are plenty of yoga studios in Chicago, and I found that whatever neighborhood I move to--I always drive to get to a class at Zen. A friend recommended me to zen yoga garage, and it has to be the number one yoga place in the city very edgy cool. Excellent at practicing social distancing and having a group fitness class. I went to a Buddha burn class, which was outside and about 10ft from another person that's a plus. The class is a mixture of high intensity and yoga, and I loved everything about it! Great yoga poses! Also, make sure to bring plenty of water because the course is a calorie-burning workout. The one thing I didn't like was the instructor played a couple of country songs, and I just thought it didn't fit well with a high energy pace! We finished the class with OM. Tried out a free class here...Buddha burn. The class was an amazing workout! I'd compare it to Yoga Sculpt at other studios, a very active yoga with weights and cardio in a warm room. While the instructor and class was great, the facilities were run down. Out of all the lockers in the women's locker room, maybe 2 or 3 worked and could be locked. The rest were off their hinges or missing the hardware to actually lock the locker. There were also signs on all the outlets saying they were out of order. My friends rented mats and said they smelled terrible. It was my first time there and I was asked to be there 15 minutes early for a tour and to sign a waiver. When I got there early I was told I don't need to sign anything since I registered online. There were two employees at the front desk and no one offered to provide a walk through or tour. I had taken a class at Lululemon Lakeview led by the owner Piper and it was beyond amazing...I had high hopes for this studio, but there wasn't anything that really stood out in a positive way that would make me want to go back. read more

Fortunately, I found ZYG through ClassPass. I've been to many yoga studios throughout Chicago and ZYG is by far the BEST. ZYG offers a variety of classes that appeal to all yogis. I really enjoy the Buddha Burn and Zen Hot classes, which are challenging and meditative all at the same time. The studio is clean and posh. I love this place. I've never done Yoga before, ever, and threw myself into Yoga Hot and lived! The team here, starting with the owner, are so great and so so welcoming. Absolutely darling studio with many options for all levels of yogis. Caitlin was a lovely instructor for the 6:30am class. She brought good, playful energy and we explored diverse poses with a smooth flow. I just love how the natural light pours in through the two big garage doors in the front studio. I can imagine them opening them on a warmer day and allowing the sounds of nature and the natural air in and having an even better experience. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. I am on business traveling and just after one visit believe to have found my "home away from home" studio. My soul did a little dance as I left and entered my day ahead of me. Ive been going to zen yoga garage on and off since I'm on Class Pass for half a year now. I love how welcoming all the teachers are and I've never felt like i don't belong - all levels are welcomed. I love the variety of classes they offer - yoga, hot yoga, barre and a cardio/yoga class (Buddha burn). I like it so much I'm considering getting their 6 month membership. The environment is friendly, motivating and energetic. I don't have kids but I like that they offer yoga for little kids I think this is not only socially responsible but it's a great way to bring a community together. The variety of classes make it easy to have a membership and not get bored of repetitiveness. Buddha burn definitely gets packed and I'll admit I get claustrophobic but once you are in the class it's great and you forget about it. Buddha Barre with Jane at 530 am is great - it always goes by so fast. I've taken traditional barre classes at a few barre studios and this class doesn't fall short of giving you that barre shake. The only yoga studio in the area that is capable of delivering COVID-safe in-class practice! I am so grateful that this studio can open up their garage doors to allow me to finally practice yoga in-person again. My temperature was taken upon arrival, masks are offered on the counter, and the rooms have strict spacing/limits on how many students are allowed inside. Classes at Zen Yoga Garage are live-giving. There's truly something for everyone - from gentle pre-natal classes to vinyasa and hot, to bootcamp classes that will kick your a**. It's evident that the staff cares (like, REALLY cares) about their craft and their yoga participants. The teachers do a phenomenal job explaining poses with metaphors and demos - I feel safe to learn, play, and challenge myself at ZYG. I live around the corner from Zen garage yoga. I also live right around the corner from core power yoga. Determined to incorporate yoga into my life, I have tried both now. Core power is super corporate and chatty for my taste. Melissa Talleda at ZYG is the best! Her class always helps me find intentional movement and reconnect to my practice. Even though I only manage one class a week, I also participate in the yoga for trade up program working two hours a week to pay off my classes. In a way it doesn't make sense as my life is supper busy, but the community is so delightful-- I enjoy my service to that community. read more

Really great studio that offers a wide variety of classes for all levels of experience. They are conveniently located in Milwaukee with parking available and a quick walk from wicker park residents. I've only attended the Buddha barre class, and have definitely enjoyed attending! It's a great balance of barre and yoga incorporating small motions for toning, intensive core workouts, and great relaxation and stretching methods as well. Love the amazing yoga vibe here. The smell of incense and the nice collection of strategically placed Buddhas is so relaxing. The friendly, open nature of all the instructors is great. There is a real sense of community here. I am semi new to yoga but getting back into it on a more regular basis. So, It is nice to feel welcome and not intimidated as more of a newcomer. They also have a great selection of classes. I love Hot Buddha Yoga. Though I am partial to the heat. So fair warning this class gets REALLY HOT. That's definitely a good thing! I came to the studio almost a year ago as a complete novice (never done yoga or attended a class) and was a bit nervous; however, ZYG provided such a welcoming and non-judgmental environment that I have since become a regular yogi! I attend several types of classes regularly (vinyasa, hot, burn) and they are all fantastic, not to mention the teachers and staff! I love Zen so much. I just completed my 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training and I feel so warm and fuzzy about my whole experience, I wish I could give it 6 stars. Zen offers more classes per day -- usually 16 -- than any other studio I'm aware of. I can almost always find a class that fits into my schedule. So bonus: Once I signed up for a Zen membership, I could finally quit the 4 other gyms I belonged to. :) The teachers are excellent, and with workout classes in addition to hot yoga, vinyasa, yin and even nidra classes, there's something for everyone. Zen offers a variety of workshops, too. Finally, the Zen Teacher Training was phenomenal. I felt so very guided and cared for throughout the ten week program, I deepened my practice tremendously, and I very much believe I picked up the skills and confidence I need to teach. Practicing Yoga is where I find my inner peace. It is what centers me. Not all Yoga studios are alike. I have been to many studios in my day and I have to admit that it takes a special studio, a studio with that certain je ne sais quoi to lure me in. And I'm hooked! The price is actually cheap compared to other studios I have been to. $99 for unlimited classes is a bargain! This yoga studio is very clean and beautiful. There is a total of 2 rooms. The staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. There are a wide variety of classes offered such as vinyasa, barre, burn, bikram, yin, and even yoga for the kiddos! Since stumbling upon an awesome outdoor yoga practice, the Zen Yoga Yard last year on Grand and Western Ave, during the peak of the pandemic (summer of 2020), I have fallen in love with my choice of place of the PRACTICE! I love Zen! I came here for the first time using Class Pass and felt welcome when I entered. I'm fairly new to yoga so naturally I felt shy and a little intimidated, but everyone at Zen was welcoming and accommodating. The two studios are spacious and all the instructors are great. I love the Burn classes the best, but I've checked out one of the barre classes and felt it to be fun and challenging. If I had to pick a favorite instructor for burn, it would be Reyna. She really pushes everyone to challenge themselves be it modifying an exercise or using a heavier set of weights. Sometimes we just need that extra little push to dig in a little deeper, and Reyna delivers. I always find the studio to be clean and well stocked on wipes, weights, and other necessities. read more

I really like this place and the annex location. They offer a wide range of classes. I took the hot yoga class and I wasn't impressed, maybe because the flow of the poses wasn't as similar to traditional bikram like I'm used to. However I loved the Buddha burn class! That was super intense and high energy, and I was dripping in sweat by the end. If you can take a class with Steve you definitely won't regret it! read more

Love this studio. I have built a community and second home here since June. I started here doing the Yoga Trade program and am still apart of this great program. I later decided to do my 200 RYS training here and could not have been happier with my decision. I made new friends and deepened my practice via the wonderful teachers here at this studio. The amenities, location, staff, and community here is all worth it! If you are looking to be apart of the Chicago yoga community without the large, corporate-like feel, this is the studio for you. Also, the variety in classes and the amount of classes offered each day are tremendous. I love the Burn/Barre classes for the days I want strength and cardio class (they kick your ass) and for the days I want more of a meditative practice - there are many vinyasa and hot yoga classes to sign up for. Love, love, love this studio! I wish I could give it a million stars!! I did a canvas of the neighborhood and did all the free week trials in the Bucktown, Wicker Park, Logan Square. I was welcomed right away and felt at home instantly! It always smells lovely, the locker rooms are clean, they offer free locks, and clean studio rooms between classes. I've been practicing at home for about a year and was ready to make a commitment to a membership at a studio. I started with Hot zen, vinyasa 1-2, then took barre, and burn. I love the variety of classes, teachers, and times of classes available throughout the day. I work a random schedule and this is the only studio I could find classes that weren't to early and late enough. All of the teachers are friendly, fun, and have offered modifications to most poses. Hands down my favorite yoga studio in the city. Every instructor I've taken a class with still finds a way to uniquely connect with students, despite the fact that it's a busy studio. I primarily stick to Vinyasa since I get my high impact workouts elsewhere, but they can still kick my ass if I need them to with extra heat added to the room or challenging options given (*and well explained*) for each pose. Bonus points for being right off the 606 and right next to Ipsento. Makes for an energizing start to my morning. read more

Zen Yoga Garage is top notch, my favorite in Chicago! I've been attending classes there for about 3 years and the instructors know what their talking about, offer a range of class styles from vinyasa flow to a little more fiery burn classes (yoga + weights) and have continued to provide great offerings online. I recently completed my 200 hour certification with Zen and would highly recommend this program. Our teachers, Piper, Melissa, Nicole, Bradshaw and Alison, are extremely knowledgeable and supportive. They do not simply give you a sequence to memorize it but they equipped you with the tools to built a smart sequence and hold space for your students. We started this program in the beginning of March and transitioned to online about 2 weeks in due to stay at home orders in Chicago. The team of teachers made the transition as smooth as possible and I am so grateful for their dedication to successfully adjusting what is typically a hands on experience remote. This 10 week program included practice teaching opportunities and lectures/workshops on human anatomy, energetic anatomy, yoga philosophy and a range of yoga styles. Thank you Zen! read more
