Cool, comfortable shop w a bunch of good artists. Everyone is professional but treats you like a friend at the same time. I've gotten multiple pieces from billy and will keep coming back to him. I have one that was my concept and 2 that were his, and my favorites are the ones he had total freedom on. Last visit, I got a piece that took about 3 hours and he made sure to check in that I was ok to keep going once the line work was done and that I was cool with the shading color he used. He's a good dude and is comfortable to be around. There is a lot of art to look at while you're getting yatted and a bunch of plants. Five stars for Rochelle. I got a tattoo when I was 19 (I'm 23) that wasn't done all that well and didn't heal all that well. At our consultation, Rochelle offered to fix it for me, which was very sweet. But we went forward with the coverup. The soonest the appointment could be made was about two months out. Rochelle was sweet, gentle, and efficient. And holy crap, my orange slice coverup is beautiful. Rochelle's style is like the perfect point between realism and a sketch. I completely trusted her to do a perfect job, and I was not disappointed. I can't say enough good things about her or her work. The shop is clean, open, and minimalist in decor. Relaxed. Good energy. No sense of pretentiousness. The lady I spoke to over the phone both times was very nice and easy to talk to. read more

I am going to preface this by saying I reached out to the owner first because I hate leaving online reviews, but he basically shunned everything I had to say about my experience, so here I am. I had already gotten a piece done by the owner and tattoo artist a few years ago and the experience was A+ from start to finish and I wanted to complete the final portion of the lower sleeve so I went back to Billy and thats when things went down hill. They scheduled me for memorial day for my consult and then called me 2 days before to reschedule it because the owner had forgotten he had a bike race that weekend. I just let it slide because I can be forgetful too. I get my consult rescheduled and give Billy a rough idea of what I want done with no real guidance by me, but was hoping he could be creative and fill in a mountain scene (which he really excels at BTW) Then they scheduled me to get tattooed for July 5th and Billy texts me an hour before I'm supposed that he's running late. so I show up and sit for 90 min in the lobby before he even comes out and greets me. He then shows me a design that I wasn't happy with and so he goes back for another hour and comes up with another design we couldn't agree on so we decide to move the tattoo back to a different date. In total I spent 2.5 hours in his waiting room after he was an hour late. Flash forward to September and I was also a little worried about not agreeing on the new design so I messaged him a week before my date and asked to see some designs he had for me but got ZERO response from him. Then I finally go back in on September 9th, an entire 8 months from the start, and he not only shows up an hour late again but he doesn't even have the curtosey to text me this time (thankfully the receptionists was apologetic) so he finally shows up BUT doesn't greet me. I sit in the lobby for another hour before he comes out and shows me his design, which I loved but wanted a different floral design, so he goes back and comes up with the new design and finally we sit down to start tattooing THREE hours after I got there. Mind you, everyone that came in after me had already been getting tattooed by their artists at that point. We sat down and 1 person was getting ready to leave and the girl next to me was about 80% done already. So we are tattooing and he decides to take a smoke break, which ok, i'm cool with but then he takes another smoke break an hour later but decides to also give a consult to someone all while i'm sitting on his bench with my arm swelling up. Never in my life had I had a tattoo artist leave a tattoo to go give a consult to someone during a tattoo session. So we are getting ready to wrap up because I have to go to work but the tattoo isn't finished because I sat in the lobby for 3 hours before we even started tattooing. I probably have another 2 hours of work I need done, but now I have to schedule another appointment to get it done. So I go up to pay and he tried to charge me $800 for my tattoo. I asked him for what and he tried to charge me for his time that I was sitting in his lobby which is comical. I just spent over 6 hours in this dudes lobby and he tried to charge me for that time. He then agreed to only charge me for the time he spent tattooing which was 3 hours but 30 min of that was him smoking/doing a consult. This is where it gets fun...I texted him the next day explaining I wasn't happy with my experience and he basically texts me back that I was a difficult client because I didn't know what I wanted but no acknowledgment of ANYTHING I was saying to him. No apology for the total lack of professionalism. No "hey come back in and lets make this right" I am only leaving two stars because the girl at the front desk is really nice, and billy is a really great tattoo artists but he's a terrible business owner and really lacks any skill that has to do with customer service. I work in customer service and I would never tell someone they are a hard person to work with because they don't know what they want to eat. It was basically a slap in my face to waste so much time and try to over charge me and then not even apologize. I would never in my life recommend going to Billy for a tattoo. I am really disheartened because this shop is so well known and this tattoo is in memory of my day but unfortunately bill decided to make it about himself. Tattoos should be more than just the ink on your body. Your artist should make you feel like you're a priority and not money toward their rent. read more

ANTI-FEMINIST SHOP. Never felt so disenfranchised or insulted. After years of wanting a tattoo and finally months of trying to find the right artist for my first, I finally decided on Austyn Cody at Ritual. My boyfriend (soon fiancé) and I went to the consult together and we all discussed ideas back and forth with Austyn until we talked through the art. I already had the general theme I wanted but I'm not very artistic so I needed the advice of my boyfriend (who is) and Austyn for some help with the specific details. I was beyond excited to finally be getting it. Two days before my appointment I get an email from Jamie, saying they "are not comfortable moving forward with my tattoo " and wanted to refund my deposit and cancel my appointment. I was immediately disappointed, but mostly confused. My boyfriend suggested I call to see what happened, since the email was unexpected and cryptic. I'm a naturally shy person and embarrassed about why it could have been cancelled, so was uncomfortable calling myself. I asked my boyfriend if he could call to see what happened. He called and Jamie, the manager of the shop, said to him "yea, this is exactly why, it seems like you're too involved in this process and it seems like getting this tattoo is not what she wants". She said he scheduled the appointment for me (he didn't) and that he SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN AT MY CONSULT. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Since when are you not allowed to bring your significant other to an appointment as serious as this? My boyfriend at this point got rightfully livid. Jamie then started to say "I'm just a middle man don't yell at me, I'm just relaying what Austyn wants". The ridiculous irony of Austyn not tattooing me because my boyfriend was advocating for me and then hiding behind his manager and refusing to speak to me himself (when I called back, calmly) was not lost on us. I've been crying for the last hour. Not because I can't get my tattoo now, but because I have never felt so judged or infantilized. In their effort to "protect me" they completely insulted me and acted like I have no agency of my own. Its a level of disrespect I have not ever experienced. Their art is good (my boyfriend and his friends are all past customers for the better part of 10 years in fact), but I would never have anything associated with them anywhere near my body. Please, please, find a shop that doesn't BELITTLE women to this extent. Austyn, Jamie, and Ritual should be ashamed. read more

I don't leave a ton of reviews, but I saw some negative ones on here prior to get work done and want to chime in with my own experience. I ended up working with Billy on a mountain scene over the past couple months. During my consult, everything went smooth. I was as general as possible while explaining what I wanted. Following that I was able to book two sessions to actually get the work done. When I showed up for the first, Billy was on time and greeted me with his design, which I approved. Within 15-20 minutes he was setup and we were tattooing. Very similar experience with the second session. I also saw someone complains about taking breaks, honestly when Billy did take a break I was glad! Give myself a little break from being poked. When it came time to pay, I felt like he rounded down both times honestly. I did not feel overcharged in the least. Final thing I will add is that Billy's bedside manor was awesome. He is an interesting dude, has lived some cool places and has the stories to show for it. I would not hesitate to go to Billy or any of the artists at Ritual again. read more

I just got done with my second session with David R. Every experience I've had with this shop has been awesome. Seriously, awesome. David was recommended to me for a cover up I wanted done on my arm and he has been nothing but helpful and kind. This is my first major piece, so new to this and being nervous... he walks me through every step so I know what I'm gearing up for. His work is literally amazing and from what I'm told a unique style that hasn't hit Colorado yet (or just did). I went in to my consult with him saying do what ever you need to do to cover this up, fully trusting him, and he delivered! It's safe to say I finally found my tattoo artist! I cannot stress how friendly everyone is at the shop. Who ever I dealt with calling from the start was amazing. She really made me feel comfortable asking all the dumb questions and was a HUGE help. Each artist has such a unique style, they really round the bases no matter what you're looking for. The artists all like to see what the others are doing and make casual conversation. It really makes the whole experience. The store is so cool and really unique. You can tell how much work was put into designing it. Highly, highly recommend. They might be good artists- but their table side manner and face to face communication were disappointing. I just got a tattoo at ritual today- it is an incredibly beautiful piece however the customer service and pricing are kind of janky. I walked in and booked the appointment about a month out, emailed the artist a photo of the exact design I wanted, so this was certainly not a custom piece, but he emailed me back that he wanted to do the piece and he charges $150 per hour and all was good. I showed up for my appointment at eleven, and we got started with the stencil at 11:35 after they got all set up and were talking shop without engaging with the customers at all. We spent about one minute placing and sizing the piece- which ended up being slightly smaller than he originally lined it out. I got on the table at 11:42 and the tattoo was finished at 12:17- so he was super fast. The end price was $165, which means that I paid for the time that he spent chatting with his coworker and getting set up. Drawing time was probably 15 minutes since it followed the design I sent exactly. My gripe is that, I know he had to get set up, but does he charge every client 35 extra minutes for setup or did that happen because I was the first client at eleven this morning? His hands were also super shaky, and this was my first chest tattoo (right under my clavicle) but he kept putting his hand over my neck to keep everything steady, which was super uncomfortable especially since he didn't ask if I was bothered by it. He actually didn't say much to me at all while I was there. I am grateful for the tattoo- but for the rest of the experience I won't be returning or recommending to anyone. read more

I really like Rochelle. She reminds me of a small tattooed female Australian version of Ice Cube. She doesn't talk much, just kinda silently works. She's also a bit nicer than Ice Cube, and better looking. But the best part about her is how good of an artist she is. She drew my tattoo by hand, so awesome. On the recommendation of a friend, sought out Sal Tino to draw up and tattoo this new piece in celebration of my 20th wedding anniversary. I told him I always wanted a dragon and wanted it twisted into an infinity symbol. Sal did a couple designs and settled into this one. It was perfect. Shop is cool albeit in an odd location. Day of, he was awesome (it had been several years since I had anything done) - friendly, engaging and professional. And a freakin' great tattoo artist. Came out perfect and better than anything I could have imagined. Not too bad when a 44 year old gets a "Dad, that is DOPE" from his 15 year old son. Would recommend Sal to anyone. read more

I personally get tattooed by Missy (who unfortunately isn't taking anymore clients). Do yourself a favor and get an amazing tattoo at a great shop with awesome people. Your skin won't regret it. A couple years ago Rochelle did a tattoo for me and it is perfect. Last November I called to get my second tattoo from Rochelle. She was booked and the soonest I could get in was March for a consultation. The day before my consultation I called to confirm my appointment. The receptionist asked what design I wanted and promptly replied with "Rochelle doesn't want to do tattoos like that anymore".
