The worst hair/makeup experience ever. Would highly highly recommend that you DONT BOOK formal hair and makeup here, as it will only waste your time and money and make you stressed out. My friend and I went before a wedding we were in and immediately had to shower after the leaving the salon to re-do it before the wedding. When I tell you it was bad, it was atrocious. We didn't ask for anything fancy, and left looking so bad that we were embarrassed to be seen in public. The hair was poorly blow dried, horribly styled, and took multiple stylists to attempt because no one knew how to do hair. The makeup was cakey and just a ton of powder on my face which only made every crease and wrinkle accentuated. There was barely anything on my eyes and that just looked awful. My friend asked for them to just wash her hair again and they said no. But also fought with us about refunds. To say that we both had spent $145 on hair and makeup and washed it off was the biggest waste of money. The appointments also ran long because they struggled to style us, which only left us less time to re-do it and get dressed for the wedding. I think they must post really old or fake photos on Yelp showing bridesmaid styles because mine was absolutely horrible. DO NOT GO HERE!!! read more

Came in with a friend for a spa treatment which included a massage, facial, and mini mani-pedi. We had the massage first, although it wasn't so much of a massage as it was just a rub down. Overall it was rather underwhelming. The room was freezing, which made it difficult to relax. The oils the masseuse used were cold as well; this was the first massage I've received which uses cold oils. I was also disappointed in the quality, or lack of, of the beds + sheets. The sheets were very thin and the beds were pretty hard. After the "massage" the estheticians came in to administer the facial. The girl who did mine was very nice, but the products used on my face were also very cold. A warmer room would have definitely helped make the experience more relaxing and Spa-like. After the facial, my friend and I moved on to our mani-pedis. The nail techs were a bit distracted? I had requested a neck warmer, but my tech forgot it. She was also very very rough pushing back my cuticles and filed my toes very unevenly ;( When it was time for the manicure, I was surprised that there was no bowl to dip my fingers in for cuticle softening. I'll admit I was scared. My major concern was the fact the tech did not open new a sterile pack equipment in front of me. I have never in my file seen a tech use just a jar of, what I hope to be sterile solution. EW. She again was very rough pushing back my cuticles, as they were not softened at all. My fingers were red and stung afterwards. I asked her to file them square-ish, which she did, but unevenly again. AND she filed them all the way down :{ I had spent forever growing them out. Sigh. After it wall all over, i synced up with my friend who had finished before me. Her tech had filed her nails way to short as well. We left very disappointed in the whole experience. read more

Went for a spa day with my 16 y/o daughter. We had a sizeable gift certifcate. Daughter had mani/pedi, I opted for facial and pedi. Daughter was pleased with her experience. Her tech was friendly and funny. If I could give her 5 stars, I would. My aesthestican may have been brand new. She kept coughing (I am hoping she wasn't coughing on me, but since my eyes were covered, I couldn't tell). She seemed very unsure of herself and what she should be doing next. I couldn't relax and enjoy the experience no matter how hard I tried. She kept apologizing (especailly when she dropped the lighted mag mirror on my forehead!) All the apologizing was more uncomfortable than the coughing and dropping things on me. My nail tech who did my pedi was good. Fresh out of school. I am pleased with the way my toes look, but my feet are still too calloused--and she didn't speak much. Even though I tried to engage her in conversation. Their prices are very high. I think they are trying to be something more sophisticated than they really are. Oh, my favorite part of the whole experience was when I was waiting for my pedi, and someone asked me if I would like some water. I said yes, and she brought me a DIXIE CUP full of water!!!! I almost laughed outloud. For the amount of money we paid for these services, the least they could do is offer us a bottle of Poland Spring Water. A case costs $3 at BJs! read more

I visited Rituals for a Brazilian wax and a haircut this month. The wax was great, Kelly kept me talking the entire time. And she was really good with the details! I saw Maria (I think) for a haircut yesterday and I really like what she did. The only thing I am frustrated with is that I can't style it as cute as she did yesterday...but isn't that always the problem? :o) Overall I'm really a fan! Their prices are very reasonable ($38 + tip for the haircut, $40 + tip for the wax) and they really put you at ease. They aren't all scary and intimidating like some salons. They just moved today to a new loction at 646 Central St. I can't wait to check it out! read more

I've been there a couple times before to get my hair done but this was the first time I got my makeup done there. It looked awful, the foundation was put on thick and didn't match my skin tone at all; I looked like a cakey ghost. The girl who did my makeup was very nice, but she didn't know how to do makeup and I felt like I was 10 years old playing with Mommy's makeup instead of getting it done by a professional. Definitely not worth the price, I can do my own makeup better for free. I'm giving it a three stars rating instead of one star because I really liked the people and the atmosphere there, I just think the makeup artists need more training in how to put makeup on different faces instead of having a general cookie cutter process used for everyone. read more

Yesterday was my 1st experience at Rituals and I had booked a long overdue facial and waxing and Kelly took unbelievably wonderful care of me. I had some surgery a few months ago and the professional she is, took the time before I arrived to make sure my requested treatment would not affect my post-surgery skin. That's being a professional, speaking as a professionally licensed person myself, just a different field. All procedures were reviewed, my medical issues addressed so Kelly could alter how some things were done as to not trigger a migraine. The salon is beautfiul, very clean and a serene atmosphere. The staff that I engaged with were attentive, courtious and pleasant. No one tried to force products on me and I did end up purchasing 1 item due to my love for Aveda. I have already set up a plan with Kelly and booked my next appointment for 6 weeks. Kelly is warm, friendly, professional and there's a soothing nature about her, important in her profession. There are a variety of treatments for anyone and anyone's price range. I am so fortunate I tried Rituals and even though it is quite a drive for me and I could go many places closer to my house, it's worth the drive for the satisfaction I felt yesterday and today. read more

Rituals is the only place, anywhere, that I will get my hair done! And I live just a few blocks from Newbury St in Boston, so that is really saying something! However, I have never dealt with anyone who works at the Salon except for Sarah. Maria has helped Sarah blow dry or wash my hair before and she is always friendly and kind. But Sarah is a true jem! She's a coloring expert and always cuts my hair perfectly, no matter what my youthful and adventurous mind comes up with! She, herself, always has different hair styles and colors and they always suit her beautifully. Sarah has given me a blonde ombré, a maroon ombré, dyed my whole head multiple times, and given me summer-y highlights. My mother and brother go to her regularly as well and are always more than satisfied. My friends constantly compliment on my hair colors and styles and ask for pictures to take to their stylets or recommendations for where to go, and I send them Sarah's way every time! The salon itself is beautiful and has a perfect set up. Most of the staff have been friendly and professional during the many years I have been coming here. First I want to mention how safe I felt with all the precautions being taken at the salon. Thank you for being so diligent during this time. I enjoyed the whole experience! Kaitlin seemed like she was just as excited about doing the haircut as I was to be getting it. She did an excellent job and let me take baby steps with having bangs by checking to see how I was with the length before we chopped further. I didn't feel rushed at all. The whole experience was very comfortable and I feel pretty for the first time in a long time. This was a big deal haircut for me. I recently lost my father after a 2 year battle with cancer and doing things for self care or pampering really took a backseat during that time. I hope Kaitlin is ready for a regular client! 10/10! Rituals is a hidden gem, It gives the feel of a high-end "city-salon" but with friendly, down to earth staff. There is an extensive selection of Aveda products for both Men and Women - and the staff uses them so they are super helpful in making recommendations when you are looking for something specific. I've had haircuts, eyebrow waxing, pedicures - and they are always top-notch. I hardly see any men getting services but they should be - if you want your hair to be at the next level, a simple barber shop won't do. They are also great at coloring (which isn't easy) so when you are feeling like a change they are ready to make you look amazing. The pedicures are fantastic, there are big, comfortable massage chairs, and they use Aveda products that make your feet look, smell, and feel like a million bucks. I even got an educational session one time on the effect of one distance running on my feet and toenails. I highly recommend Rituals for any of their services, you won't find a better salon around. read more

I've been coming to Rituals for many years for haircuts and highlights. I have a crazy schedule and almost always have to call on the same day that I want to come in. They're always gracious and accommodating of that kind of request. I ask for Kaycie, Katie or Jess - whichever one is free, because they are all wonderful. It's an Aveda salon, and that makes even a basic haircut feel like a treat. I'm confused by the negative reviews - I have never had anyone at Rituals be rude or discourteous to me. I love this salon! It smells so good and has a totally earthy feel being an Aveda salon. I gave Maria a a huge project (I went from blonde to brunette) and, although I was pretty nervous, she did an absolutely wonderful job. This is the only place I will go to get my nails done. I've tried getting Shellac manicures at other places in Leominster, but by day two they would already be chipping. This is the only place where it lasts at least two weeks and I think it's because of how much attention to detail they take when doing your nails. What a wonderful salon. I only patronize Aveda salons as I swear by their products. My son and I recently went here as they were able to squeeze us in right before the 4th of July. Our stylist cut my son's hair first and he was thrilled (he's 4) that it was the perfect length for a mohawk - which he fancies. I wear an undercut (shaved on the sides and back and long on top) which can be a very difficult cut to pull off exactly as I like it but she did it with ease. Excellent place - very happy. read more

My girlfriend and I had our second visit to Rituals today. We get pedicures here and we had the same two techs today that we had last time. They remembered us which was nice, and after today we will now request them every time we come in. They are so attentive and thorough. My feet and legs feel amazing! and they look great too! Normally I do not want to hear about the products and the sales pitch, but our conversations were so fluid and comfortable that were actually asking to hear more about the products. My girlfriend and I are making our wish list! The only thing that keeps this review at 4 stars and not 5 is the presence of the owner at the front counter. There was no "Good morning" greeting, no "how can we help you?' just a woman with a blank look and no expression waiting for us to walk up to her to tell her why we were there. I could have done without her rude dismissal of one of our nail techs at the front counter as we were leaving too. After our Pedis our techs walked us to the front counter (which I thought was awesome) and thanked us for coming. Maybe they knew if they hadn't no one would have thanks us for coming in at all. I'm sure they were right. The owner interrupted one of them as she was speaking to us and said "you have a client waiting" and shooed her away in front of us ... you know what Deb... she had a client standing in front of her too and she was saying goodbye, you interrupted both of us. The other client was not being neglected as she had just walked in with a friend and the other nail tech was getting their foot baths ready. Happens everywhere we go. Nothing wrong with that. I worked in high end gift retail for 17 years and good Customer Service is key!! When you charge $45 for your basic pedicure good Customer Service is not only key, it's mandatory! If it weren't for your employees Ashley and Kat, we would be moving on. You need to lighten up and enjoy your relaxing surroundings a bit. If you're having a bad morning, recognize that, and stay away from the front counter, until you can muster a smile for your customers. You're not even smiling in your profile picture. Maybe you have a condition that I don't know about, if so, I'm sorry for that. But you should still recognize that your unfriendly demeanor at the front counter is not inviting or welcoming. But your techs and their skills are, so we will be back. I look forward to seeing your smiling face on our next visit. :) read more

I have been going to SARAH for years and would never go anywhere else. She spends time with you if you bring in pictures and lets you know if you have the hair type for that type of photo. I was in a wedding party that visited Rituals and was mostly pleased with the services. The staff were very nice, friendly and helpful. The one suggestion I have is for the owner to be more pleasant. She was not very welcoming or friendly. She acted like we were intruding at her salon. There were 9 of us that received services and I know a large amount of money was spent that day. The younger girls in the wedding were very well behaved but the owner kept telling her staff to follow them to make sure they did not bother anyone. She also kept them away from the bathroom because it was too close to the massage room. If the owner wants customers to return she should really improve her customer service. read more

I have been going to Rituals for years whenever I come back to the area from travelling and living in other places. I always appreciated their serene environment and professional services. My experience last week was not so pleasant, and I must say that I will no longer use Rituals as my go-to salon in the Leominster area. I went for a package that included a manicure, pedicure, facial, massage, blow-dry and "natural make-up". When I called to book the appointment I was told that it woudl take at least 4 hours, so I booked my time accordingly. After my mani/pedi, they had me sitting their for 30 minutes waiting to go in for my facial, and I realized that this would cause me to be late for my evening plans. I asked if I could not get the massage done that day, and schedule it for another day; Maria told me that the owner (Deb) doesn't like when people do that; however, she came back 5 minutes later and said that I could schedule it for another day for an additional $5 dollars (really? $5?). I agreed because at that point I had no choice, and I went in for my facial. The woman was sweet, but like one of the other reviews, the room was cold and there was no heat pad in the bed. When I asked about this, the woman said that it was the only room without a heat pad. Why would they even think to give someone a facial in a bed without a heat pad? And not even ask about it? The facial was okay - it was obvious that the woman was inexperienced. I went for my hair blow-out and make-up after; again, the girls were nice and friendly but it just felt like they don't know what they're doing. The best part of the day came when it was time to pay. While the receptionist was tallying my services in the computer, Deb came over and made an adjustment without saying anything to me nor smiling nor being friendly (it was obvious she was angry about something). I was surprsied when the receptionist told me a price lower than the package amount - I thought that I'd be paying the whole price and I would book a massage later. When I asked about this, the receptionist called Deb over to explain. Deb came over and said to me very rudely that I had violated the "rules" of the package deal and therefore had to pay for everything a la carte. She was so unfriendly and not concerned about my experience that day. When I told her that I was confused because Maria had not told me this information before going in for my facial, she didn't seem to care. My mother was there with me, and we both agreed that she had acted completely inappropriately. And for $5!! So Rituals lost my business that day, as well as my mother's. Hopefully Deb will learn to be more friendly, welcoming and concerned about what happens in her salon. There is another Aveda salon in downtoan Leominster - I will try them next time. read more

If I could give this place zero stars for just the owner I would. I went in for a mani/pedi with a friend who has been going to Maria since they were at the old location. The employees were nice and friendly and did a great job. But the owner... she was so RUDE! Not even a smile to greet us. Just "pick out your polish and someone will be with you". I'm a paying customer there with a long time customer for crying out loud! You could at least put on a fake smile! My friend forewarned me that this would happen but I didn't believe her. She was also short with her employees and spoke to them in a condescending manner. I've always been one to speak my mind so my friend really had to stop me from doing so that day. The girls apologized but it wasn't their fault. When she was settling our bill I asked her if I could also put a tip on my credit card and she said that the girls preferred cash but one of the girls behind the counter spoke out and said "but it's ok if you do!". I don't know her name but you go girl!! I usually carry cash for tips but I didn't have any that day. If you are planning on spending your hard earned money here, think again. I believe they only get half of the cost of the service and that's not much. I will never go back there and my friend won't either. read more
