No consent was given for this exam, nor the cost disclosed until after the visit. It seems that their standard of care is more about obtaining money than it is for the care of the patient.

I arrived today, drove a long way , time off etc. the receptionist said my appointment had been cancelled , and that they had left me a message. THERE WAS NO MESSAGE. I checked my phone log. I made an appointment because I have a jagged crumbling molar that is causing me a lot of pain, including a sharp broken tooth that keeps catching my tongue. On my first visit, the (grumpy) dentist basically looked at the xrays, said "you'll need several fillings, possibly an extraction, and I can't file that broken tooth today because "I don't have the right instruments". They wanted to do a cleaning next, before doing any work, but the next cleaning appointment was over two months in the future, and my mouth is in bad shape, so I talked them into booking an office visit only a month out to address the worst issues, and then a cleaning when available. Today was that office visit appointment, so I took time off again and went in, not thrilled about the grumpy dentist, but thankful for the low-income dental help. I paid in advance. But when I got in the chair, Dr. Grumpy refused to do any of the work we had previously discussed, insisting again that I would have to do a deep cleaning first. I feel like this is a scam. I'm going to file the damned broken tooth myself, before I tear my poor tongue to shreds, and see if I can find a dental school somewhere to do the fillings. I can't afford to take more time off to get NO WORK done and deal with some grumpy argumentative dentist with a bad attitude. Avoid this place like the plague. There's something not right.

Dr. Rodriguez-McCann is highly skilled and has a great personality. He actually makes dental appointments fun somehow. He was in terrible pain and this was the only place that could get him in. He had very good insurance but was pressured into paying for the procedure in full. Ok, whatever. Dr. Tam kept him waiting for hours and after using high pressure scare tactics somehow pressured him into opening a credit account for future work to be performed. She even charged thousands on this account for work that had not been done yet. He repeatedly told her he didn't need the account and just wanted to get the procedure done that he came in for. He was desperate and went ahead with his root canal because he was in so much pain. After the procedure she allowed him to drive himself home which was crazy since he had been heavily medicated. However she never bothered to give him a prescription for antibiotics which he absolutely needed. Mind you she was aware that most pharmacies would be closed on Christmas day. I spoke to her the next day and found her to be disingenuous and condescending. Although she seems to have many seemingly positive reviews I recommend running away from this place as fast as possible. Please take time to read all of the negative reviews because they are certainly more accurate to our experience and many other trusting people unfortunately.

However, the office didn't give me much information at all about what the recovery would look like. When a problem arose post-surgery, Dr. Tom saw me right away. During the appointment, though, he was unkind and unprofessional. We spent only a few minutes together, and he seemed angry throughout. I pointed out that he was yelling at me, but he didn't change his manner. I asked a few questions and he barked his response at me each time. The door was open and my husband was able to hear much of the exchange and his impression was that Dr. Tom seemed impatient and unsympathetic. Dr. Tom went as far as to say that he only cared about whether my husband made his doctor's appointment in Santa Rosa, (which we'd scheduled around) and didn't care about me. I can't imagine Dr. Tom would treat a male patient this way. Please choose another provider if you want to be treated with respect.
