I had my 2 year old with me and I saw signs for mothers with young children to go up the stairs to mother's room. When I reached the top of the stairs, I see a group of men doing what seems to be a halaqah on the landing the stairs take us to. I was uncomfortable entering this space so I walked back down to the regular sister's area. I also kept trying to go to the restroom to change my son's diaper but it was closed the whole time I was there, so I texted my husband and he offered to change my son in the men's restroom. When we tried to do a handoff through the doors dividing the men and women's area, an older man who spoke Urdu and claimed to be the security guard starting yelling at me asking what I'm doing. He backed off a little bit when he saw my husband but we both asked him why he was yelling at me and in front of the children. He was upset I was letting my 2 year old come into the men's area and we tried to explain how the mother's area is blocked by men and how as the security guard, he should do something about that. He smiled and responded calmly that what the men are doing upstairs is fine. I immediately understood the kind of "man" I was speaking to and didn't want to waste my time further in this masjid so I left and my family all followed. many of the people who witnessed this were SUPER embarrassed by this guy's behavior. In Surah Baqarah we are told that his is one of the worst types of dhulm a person can do - make the masjid unwelcoming for worshippers. If you are associated with this masjid, please address this problem.

The worship through music/singing is contemporary and is consistently done with excellence in an acoustic format. The kids 3 yrs and up join the congregation in singing and go back to have their bible lesson when the preaching begins. We received a second survey several weeks ago about our thoughts on meeting in person (which just started two weeks ago at the Katy campus). We answered the questions in a similar fashion to the first survey from May including expressing disappointment in how the church has treated us during this time. I guess if you don't serve on the "Dream Team" or give a certain amount of money no one will help you when you go through a tough time. We as a family have made the decision to not attend services here any longer.
