I was at this church even before I was born and once I started in pre-k classes there I met my lifelong best friends and has been an amazing experience for me being at this church. It's a really great and kind community that always helps when you need.Has an amazing youth program and is amazing for any age to learn about Christ and worship him every Sunday, Wednesday and Monday. I love this church! River City has been a place where my wife and I have been able to serve and grow every week. The size was pretty intimidating at first but the congregation truly treats you like family. The worship is Christocentric and the teaching is biblical. Pastor Sean is the senior founding pastor and a very gifted communicator. But, this church doesn't stay inside the church doors. They have a food pantry that serves the community, monthly projects for in need neighborhoods, and consistently show what it means to be the hands and feet of Christ. read more

Great worship, nice people. It's a long walk from the parking lot, but they have little golf carts to pick people up and drive them up to the door. P.S. Sean needs to update the service times listed here. My mom, who has Alzheimer's tries to get me to take her to church every Saturday night because this Yelp listing show up in Yahoo search results and incorrectly reports service times. The church services are good. But I recently had a horrifying experience with a Pastor. I'm going through a life crisis & asked for help & was told "sorry I'm too busy." I explained I was in an extremely emotionally abusive marriage & he said well there's not much we can do in one session & asked "if we can get your husband to be a little nicer would that be enough for you?". Sir I don't know how to answer such an insensitive question. But thank you for showing that the heart of the body of Christ does not exist in that place when pastors are allowed to speak to victims of domestic abuse this way. I'm sure it's a place full of amazing people. But this was my unfortunate experience. Church is supposed to look like a hospital for the souls, this place is not. read more

Sean Azzaro is the lead pastor. He is gifted IMO but struggles with what he wants verses what God wants. A few people remain from when I attended there but many of us left. There are many other church in this area of town to visit, go seek those. read more

Unfortunately this church is not a church for the REAL LIFE. I was excited when I saw their slogan that it might be possible. And although I really liked most everything about our Sunday experience, I was deeply saddened to find out that not only are they not open to welcoming the LGBT community. They actually sent someone into our home to communicate that they are not willing to allow us to attend a family small groups or consider us for being members of the church. Our family (including our six year old daughter) would not be recognized as being in a family. Im not sure where that puts us... I guess this is only a church for the "real life" if your "real life" looks like theirs. If you are LGBT or an ally, find a church that will love you and meet you where you are in your walk, don't waste your time trying to see if this church would be a fit for you. Find a church that is willing to emulate the love of Christ. Find a church that is going to love you with an overwhelming, never-ending reckless kind of love. A love you cant earn, a love you don't deserve from a God who loves you like crazy. read more

This church has been real from the start. They have welcomed us and loved us. My Kids have grown comfortable and love going to class. They are well organized and planed for the kids classes. Service is always applicable to life and weighed next to the Bible. The Azzaro family is very open, gracious, humble, and true servant leaders. The fruit in their life reflects that as well. read more

We began attending this church about a year ago and joined as members in November. We were looking for a church with a very active child and youth ministry where we could become part of a community and my son could also attend school K-12. We wanted to know some of his teachers and wanted him to have a Christ-centered education. The first time we went we were impressed with how clean and modern the facility is, yet it is still welcoming and comfortable. I didn't realize it was on the old Verizon amphitheater grounds (the amphitheater is still there and they own it, but there are indoor church facilities). My son immediately loved riding the golf carts from the parking lot to the church building. When we walked in one of the pastors noticed us immediately and welcomed us but we didn't feel singled out (it was easy to blend in). The praise and worship time was contemporary and excellent. I felt right away that God is powerfully present with that church body. We heard one of the pastors (Willy Mayfield) speak because the teaching/senior pastor was out of town. He was great and we felt challenged. We hoped the regular guy was just as good as him. We came back the next week and were not disappointed. Sean Azarro is a gifted preacher. He does not sugar coat it for you; this is Biblical and challenging. We have enjoyed his sermons immensely. We checked out the school (River City Believers Academy) and were very pleased with that too and decided to become church members. God willing, our son will attend the school in the fall. They have an active adult discipleship and AWANA (child) program (lots of classes to choose from on Wednesday nights). They also have family groups by neighborhood, both of which we have been involved in. One feature we really love are the huge and beautiful grounds. We walk there on Wednesday nights when my son is in AWANA on the occasions when there is no adult discipleship (between semesters). They have an outdoor pavilion and we get there early to have a picnic while our son rides his bike or plays on the playground. They have tons of space for church events. read more

As many of you know being a mom can be a stressful situation but imagine now being a mom with two children under three, working part time, on a tight budget, with a husband who is serving in the military and not able to be around much due to his obligations. If that isn't stressful enough you also find out that your child has a speech delay and his therapist and doctors recommend that he be around other children, perhaps a Mothers Day out program so he is with children his own age to help him better express himself and pick up words and interactions from peers. You search and search, and finally find an affordable part time day care at a local church, and think this is the perfect solution; after all churches should be understanding, and loving, right? A church environment should teach equality, understanding, and patience. My little one started going to the Mothers day out program at the start of last year,twice a week without any issues other than just needing to work on his speech and be more social. In October all of the sudden my little one started picking up biting habits which he had never had before. My son would come home with bites and bruises on him, from other kids and eventually my son started biting as well. We talked with his teacher on numerous occasions about being worried that since he is delayed in his speech that biting would become his go to, to express himself if he was frustrated at a situation and we were assured multiple times that kids are kids, its not a big deal, we will work with him, maybe he still is teething, and that we should try a tether or reading books on biting to help, however they informed us hat they were not able to watch him "all the time." That they weren't entirely sure what was going on, most of the time when "seen" bitting occurred it would be over a toy, or kids rough housing to hard. I at the time had no cause for concern and was even assured that he would NOT be kicked out of the program, that it was a phase all kids go through and he as well would grow out of it, which eased my mind. Except now, today, all of the sudden, at the drop of a hat,without any formal warning, without a probation period, at the end of the school day, I get a phone call from the Head of the mothers day out program that my child is being kicked out for having a biting issue and not being able to "watch him at all times." Being kicked out of a church program, even though my child has been bitten and hit by other kids..... even though there is not any sort of "biting policies in place." I am left high and dry with out any formal warning..... and even though in the past i have talked with his teachers about his issues, even though I had been told that they would never kick a child out for that reason, and that biting is just a part of kids being kids. I even tried to offer the solution of moving him up to the next sized class with more developed and understanding kids, and was told "that that class is too full as it is, that it is in fact over in the class size." (I have a voice recording telling me this information on class size) But then on top of this already upsetting phone call they then tell me that another parent is threatening to call CPS if my child continues to go to the school and that the Mother's Day out program would much rather "lose my child than the other child." That my child is not as important and as the other moms child. They not only told me this, but they also called and told my husband this as well! And that effective immediately my child is no longer welcomed at the Churchs Mothers day out program ....and there is nothing I can do about it. I sit here with tearful eyes, and a hurt heart, not for me, but for my child who was abandoned by a Church, a place where he was supposed to be loved, accepted, and understood.
