I did all the research and discovered the door needs to be calibrated for the extra weight. I spoke with a number of companies and they all said the same thing. Complete a test to see if a tuneup would be needed before installing the insulation. Well fast-forward and a tuneup was needed. I contacted several companies and Gabe not only had the best price but he was among the most responsive. We setup a game plan per his advice and he showed up when he said he would. Our daughter bought a new/old house in Folsom a few months ago. House was built in 1989, 3 car garage. While visiting from Las Vegas I noticed the double door seemed to struggle and bind. Fixed not just the garage to our apartment, (someone hit it/the reason he was called out) but he also helped us push our 96 SS Chevy Impala (which happened to be dead in the garage) in the heat every time someone needed to drive by. Which if your unfamiliar is one heavy ass car +no power steering.. he put a piece of wood under neither our car battery we unknowingly just plopped down on the concrete to "charge" and before leaving installed our battery and pushed our car back in the garage because we didn't know up from down. At 3:30 p.m., on 12/13/12, I had a garage door pop off track and the retention cable come unspooled from the lift spring, due to a broom getting caught in the side track. I attempted to fix it myself, but decide after 1/2 an hour that I was in over my head and decided that I didn't want to lose fingers trying to rewind the lift spring. I called a few businesses prior to River City, with no luck. Betty at River City stated that Larry would be at my house in 40 minutes. He showed up in 30, which was a nice surprise. I was immediately at ease with Larry, and felt very comfortable with him having full view and access of everything in my garage. None of the vibe of being cased, as can sometimes happen with unknown people. Larry ended up being the owner of the company, and stated that he had been working in the field for nearly 35 years. He spent nearly an hour and a half working on the door. He got everything back in working order, lubed everything and told me that my opener should continue to work for years. Absolutely no "up-sell". The icing on the cake was that he only charged me $75.00. I was expecting it to be much more, and ended up tipping him another $25.00, because I felt like he hadn't charged enough for the amount of time and quality of work he had performed. Long story short, I ended up asking for a stack of business cards to pass out to friends and neighbors. I would recommend this company to anyone, and plan on having him install the new garage door opener for us, when the time comes. read more
