Hanne was knowledgeable, creative, friendly, and patient. She was collaborative throughout the planning process and helped the board members of our condo articulate what we were hoping for as we were treading into a territory we had know prior knowledge of. Hanne was able to calibrate her plan based on our budget, our capacity to collectively maintain the yard, and the aesthetic we were hoping for. She kept in mind how prices for plants and materials would change, and worked quickly to save us from paying more than we had to. On the work day, she was willing to guide 6 landscaping newbies through updating our yard. Even though it was raining, she made the entire landscaping day enjoyable. Since then, Hanne has been more than willing to provide us direction on how best to maintain our new yard and even provided us useful recommendations for building a fence to accompany our yard update. I had initially become aware of Hanne because of one my sisters had an amazing experience with her previously, and after the similarly great time we had with her, my other sister hired Hanne for her yard! Needless to say, all three of us siblings could not be happier with the work she has done. All three of us would hire her again in a second. What we love about Barclay: --Barclay's crew is meticulous. We needed a carefully-crafted slope on the patio and some steps, to direct water flow away from the house and down the driveway instead. His crew did it, solving a water issue that we'd dealt with for many years. --Barclay's crew is careful of existing infrastructure. We experienced no damage to our plants, house, driveway, etc. --Barclay is flexible. After his crew began the project, we realized that we wanted to go "all in" and do pavers over our entire backyard, instead of just over part of it. I feel really bad about upsetting him so much but at the same time I feel like he lacked the patience to see past an initial misunderstanding, followed up by an earnest attempt by me trying to understand the logistics of the project that I was asking about. He even went on to say I was disrespecting him for stating that it may just have been a large undertaking. I meant no disrespect I just meant to express my ignorance in the field and I was trying to make light of the fact that I'm no expert and I don't know the feasibility of what I'm asking for. 1 star for making me feel 2 inches tall and storming off on me for having trouble understanding Braden his inability to remain patient and walk me through it or just put it on the back burner and say I can show you what I mean later in the design if you wish to proceed. What do I like about this business? Everything! This is a phenomenal company, from top to bottom…read more Five stars just isn't enough credit for what they do. They are truly service-oriented from the moment you reach out to them, and it starts with Dan. He's friendly, responsive and provides detailed estimates immediately for whatever work is needed. We have a 5-zone sprinkler system with a combination of drip lines and sprinklers in the front and backyard. It's a funky arrangement that needed a serious upgrade. His crew (Marvin and Jose) are miracle workers! They are real problem solvers who managed to reroute some existing sprinkler lines, fix several hidden leaks and provide more water coverage in several zones. Marvin and Jose are a joy to watch. They really enjoy their work and it shows. Marvin will even sing while he's putting in new drip lines or tying off others, and nothing seems to faze him. Both men are polite, courteous and appreciative of drinks and snacks while they work. They say "Thank you, so much" every time. After spending the entire day at our home, we tested the system and everything worked well, but there were a few dry spots I noticed the next day. Dan came by today to collect payment and I showed him the areas where water wasn't quite reaching and he said, "No problem." Marvin and Jose will come back to make a few adjustments -- at no extra charge. Best of all, the new parts they install are guaranteed for 5 years instead of one. Who does that? All in all, this was a terrific experience and I wish I had hired this company 13 years ago when we landscaped our yard. I'm so impressed with them and you will be, too.
