So better be on time and make a line if this happens. This year was different. We got tickets but there was just another family. Maybe because we got there at midday. Beach was crowded. We had to walk just a little bit to get a spot and set everything. People come and go with every ferry so there's always space. Just a dew benches but everyone wants to be at the beach near the dry sand. Water will come later on, but the rest is wet. You have to walk for a few minutes to get to the water. It is pretty shallow. This year we had to run because it was shrimp season and they make sand unstable. At first everyone wants to dodge algae, but you end up stepping on it. Getting into the water was the same. It felt like quicksand. It didn't feel quite relaxing. 10 years ago it we would stay for hours in water. Kids would play easily. We'll, at least animals hace set a home! Jetty is a small island just a quarter of mile from Port of Everett. But i don't think you will be able to swim with all your stuff back and forth after a day there :D You ca always kayak if there's no more room in the Ferry. By the way, it is a small passengers only. Strollers won't move on sand so leave it in your car. Do bring everything you need like water, towels, a tent that can resist wind (it gets pretty windy and can blow umbrellas), etc. If you bring food, take all you garbage with you. Don't leave anything. I saw some kids stuff laying there waiting for the water to come over and take it to the sea. So sad. I carried most of it because there are no garbage bins in sight. Also, there is just one floating restroom. It tends to smell. Take it into consideration when drinking lots of water. We usually go to the one in the parking lot first and when coming back. It is very clean. Lots of stalls. Parking lot is big if you extend it to the grass area. There is always someone checking you paid for it.

This past Thursday, the 22nd of April and Earth Day 2021, I decided to celebrate the Earth by doing some exploring on foot in Mount Vernon. I parked my car at Mount Vernon Lions Club Roadside Park because I couldn't easily spot if/where the parking lot was for North Lions Park. After parking my car I explored south on the Skagit Riverwalk to the River Jam Memorial and the Skagit Riverwalk Park. After exploring south I made my way north and to the North Lions Park. Walking to the park I noticed a couple of sandy stretches along the Skagit River at the base of a treed area. I got all excited and hopeful that I would find access to the beach in the park. The paths I encountered in the park were dirt paths and relatively flat except at the junction with the beach patches. It took me a few tries to find the right paths that led to the beach, but I eventually found two different beach spots. I sat and relaxed at each spot for a little bit. The sun was out and the trees provided speckled shade. Flowers were starting to bloom and the Song Sparrows had fun watching me from the side of the trail and singing. The water was relatively quiet, no boaters nor big birds in the water here. Tiny minnows did swim in the shallows close to shore. I only encountered one other person while I was here (a little under an hour). The noise from the highway does carry so it is not absolutely quiet. The trails were well maintained and cleanly. Nice place to take in some nature while in Mount Vernon.

I enjoyed the well maintained trail and the tiny sightings of wild life (bird, squirrels, chipmunks and rabbits lots of little rabbits) a peaceful adventure. This is a great trail alone or with a partner but definitely a trail that should be on your bucket list.

Hiked this trail 7-26-2014 with a group of friends. We started out at 9:00am and came across very…read morefew people on our way up. On our way down we encountered families with small children and their dogs and a couple elderly groups. Love that. Data per our Fit Bit: 9+ miles, 23K+ steps and 2400+ calories burned. Every terrain was encountered on this hike: dry wide/narrow paths, mud, river rock, and bridges. Giant moss-covered trees make great shade from the sun or rains. Twin waterfalls near the beginning of the hike will impress you. The gurgling river sounds will keep you company while pressing on. Trailhead: From I-5take exit 208/Silvana/Arlington and drive east on Hwy 530 for about 19.5 miles. Turn right on French Creek Road (FS 2010) ***gravel road that can easily be missed*** Drive 3.8 miles to the end of the road and the trailhead parking lot. Lot is small and was packed when we were leaving. No passes were required at this time but be sure to do your due diligence and check before hiking to avoid any tickets.

Located along the Swinomish Channel in La Conner, Pioneer Park isn't the fancy-pantsiest park I've…read moreever been to, but it's a nice place to sit with a friend on a sunny day and watch the boats go by. Marked by the aptly-named Rainbow Bridge, the waterfront portion of the park includes a playground (closed during our visit, due to covid restrictions), a few picnic tables, and easy-to-stroll paved paths along the channel. Besides photographing the impressive bridge from below, the park's best feature are the many boats, trawlers and sailboats navigating past. I'm not sure I'd make this a destination park, but it was a great place to stop while already enjoying an afternoon in La Conner.

If you are visiting the town of La Conner make sure you don't forget to stop here. It is a must-see…read morein my opinion. Amazing views of the beautiful rainbow bridge and Swinomish channel. Picnic tables and even a fun trail that takes you up and underneath the bridge for a fun unique view. They had a huge picnic shelter and what looked like an amphitheater area with rows of benched seating in the upper park area. So they must rent that out or have events.

It was really a waste of my time it's a lovely location. If only we got to view it there was no for warning on any social media or websites that the trails were closed so that was unfortunate. Probably will not return back there since they don't communicate with the public well wind trails are closed.
