I have always wanted to visit River North Brewing. They specialize in Barrel Aged Stouts, one of my favorites, but also have some other solid offerings. Founded in 2012 by Matt and Jessica Hess. A small operation in Denver, Colorado that has been collecting awards left and right. I pulled a chair up and got myself a flight. Festbier (2024): A Festbier style Oktoberfest beer that really hit the spot. Nice and drinkable with good balance. Double Barrel Aged Shadowman: A Barrel Aged Imperial Stout that was first aged in Kentucky Bourbon Barrels and then in Colorado Single Malt Barrels. Big, bold, and bodacious as a double barrel aged stout should be. Plenty of barrel character! Whiskey Barrel Aged Quandary: A Belgian Quadrupel that was aged in Whiskey Barrels. Well balanced with nice caramel and molasses notes. Pumpkin Spice Bucket of Bolts A Barleywine with adjuncts of Pumpkin, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Ginger, Vanilla, and Cloves. An award winning beer for good reason - PSL in the perfect vessel, Barleywine. _____

To us, this was an okay place as the selection of the beers is/was quite small and two of the beers we tasted were not extraordinary. Service was okay-ish. The two workers upfront were not very welcoming or friendly although they seemed to be that way to others especially those who sat at the bar. What we liked about the place were... 1) the location. It's located in north RiNo only several block from the 38th & Blake RTD station. It's away from the major businesses where you can enjoy a quiet atmosphere especially you sit outside in the patio (although the sound-proofing inside is not great inside. There was a customer at the bar who was conversing with one of the workers and he (customer) was quite loud when he laughed. Although we sat all the way to the left of the building his loud laughter echoed through the room where my bf and I couldn't hear each other from time to time.) 2) the spaciousness of the brewery. The inside is simple and plain. Whereas some might think that they could use more decors to "color" the interior, I like the way it is. They have a backroom which you go through to get to the bathroom which leads to the patio area (the patio area is also accessible from the main bar area so you can walk around the entire place by going to both directions; it's efficiently designed in my opinion.) When we were here yesterday (March 9, 2025), the weather was absolutely beautiful (in mid 60's). There was a food truck (some Latin American cuisine) right (on 34th) outside (not sure if it's always that vendor or they switch it up.) You got to have good food that pairs well with what you're drinking, right? Well, at this time, 3 stars is a fair rating I can give to this place. Like I said, we weren't impressed and yet it's also not a bad place either.

Stopped in for a quick beer to use the Hop Pass for a BOGO deal. My husband got the Mountain Haze and I got the barrel-aged Father Time. We enjoyed our beers and it was cool to see their wide selection of barrel-aged brews. It's definitely more of a no fuss, no frills kind of place. Would come back to try more of their barrel-aged beers.

What a great taproom! There's a lot of space/seats around the bar, as well as various tables around the main room. Then there's a whole secondary room with tables/plenty of space. All the current beers that are on tap are on the screen to the left of the bar. Our bartender was great - we throughly enjoyed our beers (peach and a barrel aged), and picked up quite a few bottles to go! We will absolutely be back!

We did a walking tour of the city so we were kinda tired at the end of the evening. We decided to check out this brewery as our car was parked very close to this place. Nice ambiance and service staff were good too. They have a food truck with Mexican food as an option if you're hungry. I just ordered American lager. They have some board games and other bar games to play with friends and family. Nice seating area and pretty comfortable too.

This is my new favorite Colorado brewery. Absolutely killer stouts. Not just standard barrel aged stuff; truly unique strong stouts with complex flavors and huge variety. Any fans of Oskar blues, Avery, the bruery (California) would be wise to scope this place out. Bonus: there is a rad climbing gym a block away

Such good service and good drink selection. I had to take a meeting and the bar tender was nice enough to turn down the music in the room we were in so I could attend on zoom. They don't really serve food but they had a taco truck today which was great .

Very friendly staff at this place. This location is a lot smaller than the other. They have events like trivia night and most important they're dog friendly.

This brewery has a great location. Love the neighborhood and that it's close to other breweries. The bartender was nice and welcoming. I ordered a flight of four beers. The beers were okay but nothing extraordinary. I'm glad I came and tasted what I did.

River North's darks are phenomenal. It's really their specialty. This location of theirs has a decent sized patio with a big garage door that opens to it. They always have some funky beers as well. The vibe is more chill than the rest of Rino and the outdoor tables are all picnic tables so I don't love that but appreciate the size of the space.

Loved listening to the bands, and exploring the huge space. They have olllllld school pinball game, giant jenga, gigantic cornhole, trash can sized beer pong, and ladder ball (normal size). They also have an original Nintendo with Mario. Seating a little tricky, be careful sitting on the benches, they move in odd ways. But loved the tables and chairs upstairs with the perfect view of the stage! Service was my only complaint- I think the first guy at the bar was having a hard time because they were so busy. I waited at the bar for a while without being acknowledged, then by the time he did finally notice me he just held up a finger. Finally a chick came over and took my order, but it took a while. She was perfectly nice, however, and it wouldn't stop me from returning or recommending them. The helles was a decent German beer with a good depth of flavor- I would come back and try their other beers for sure. Highly highly recommend and will absolutely be back for other events! Bring back emo night please!

They had a section with some large games like beer, pong and cornhole as well as a separate side that had a stage. The upstairs location had some tables and a ton of plants. You could overlook everything from the upstairs. The night was fun, but the place seemed dead for the most part. Kind of surprising for a nice weekend night. There is also a loud rowdy group that was kind of monopolizing all of the large games so we didn't get a chance to play those. Beer was decent although they do add a 20% charge. Might come back in the summer when the weather gets nicer.

We were greeted and served by the bartender Junebug and although it seemed like he was the only staff, he was friendly and attentive with us and all the patrons. The beer was great, there were so many great options to choose from and so we had some of the IPAs, lagers and ales. Staying true to the name, the decor has a woodsy feel and the handles are made of various wood shapes. It was nice to see that they also offer some mixed drink options, margaritas, and a slushy option. There were some salty snacks available for purchase which was also a nice option to have. Happy Hour M-F 3-6pm with $5 pints. The place and restrooms were clean (two singles), there were some canned beers and merch items available for purchase, an outdoor patio and plenty of street parking. Overall the service and place were great! Some things to mention, having the live band was great and the place is dog and kid friendly which are also a nice option to have at any venue. But the volume of the jazz band was just a bit too loud for the space and together with the many small kids playing and running around took away from this being a relaxing day. Nonetheless, the bartender Junebug made it an overall enjoyable evening after the kids left and we closed off the evening with another great brewery find that we'll be sure to visit again.

Only in Colorado, home of The Great American Beer Festival, right? That said, this place has always been one of our favorite places. The staff is friendly and has even remembered me, though I'm the rarest of regulars with my group. There always seems to be multiple meetups happening, but the space is big enough to accommodate, especially when it's warm for the little front patio. Even with the noise of people, it's still comfortable to talk and have a great time. For a party of two or a get down and party to raise good cheer, this is a terrific and TASTY place to tip one back!

The vibe is cool with music playing, garage doors that open up to the outdoor patio & a friendly staff. We arrived mid afternoon on a sunny Sunday for pizza. As the owner(s) say, why the name Black Shirt, "it's my symbol of rebellion- Johnny Cash". " Black shirts stand for rebellion, independence, and the courage to stand apart." And their pizzas do stand apart from others! We ordered the War Pig Pizza and a small Caesar Salad. The pizza was topped with a red sauce & a cheese blend, with cotija, pepperoni, prosciutto, bacon, sun-dried tomatoes & a chipotle-maple glaze - it was outstanding! The combination with these ingredients made for a delicious craveable pizza. I especially liked the glaze, more sweet than spicy. However, the salad was just okay, the dressing didn't have a lot of flavor & the lettuce could have been more fresh. Overall a great lunch & I look forward to trying some of their other pizzas as well as their beer.

I love their style crust! Thin and crispy but not TOO thin. More NY style which is my fave. The garlic bread was also superior. Get an extra side of marinara if you're saucy like me. I will say, the specialty pizzas get pretty pricey, but I felt ok when ordering the customizable. This is def going to be my goto when I am wanting to order pizza in. YUM!
