The rooms were gorgeous with plenty of chairs and seating for family members and they were really as hands off as they could be with my son and his girlfriend and them having their baby. The cafeteria, while expensive, was really great. Hot foods, sandwiches, cold drinks, fruit, breakfast food. They had everything. There is also lots of food places very close if you don't want to eat there. Parking is plentiful, we always found a spot right near the hospital (and this place is big). Our whole family loved this place. I'm thrilled that this is where they had their baby!

I was sent directly to the emergency room by a clinic after being told I had a corneal abrasion, a suspected corneal ulcer, and a swollen eye. The clinic was concerned enough about my condition to send me to the emergency department for further evaluation. Upon arrival, I had to wait over three hours before I was taken to the back but then placed on a gurney in the hallway and told that I would be treated there because my condition was not considered an emergency. I was especially displeased to be the only patient treated in a high-traffic hallway where people continuously passed by, stared, and went on with their day, which made me feel exposed and uncomfortable during an already painful and stressful situation. All other patients were placed in rooms while I was awaiting treatment in the hall. They had the unmitigated gall to write in a marker a room number and taped it on the wall by my gurney with my wristband informauto. taped on the wall as well. I felt degraded and uncared for at the same time. I arrived around 5:00 p.m. and waited for hours without being examined by a physician or other provider. During that time, my symptoms became progressively worse. I repeatedly informed the nursing staff that I was experiencing severe eye pain, extreme sensitivity to light, increasing swelling, and worsening symptoms. Despite expressing my concerns and fear that my vision could be affected, no one came to reassess me or explain the plan for my care. After six hours, I still had no relief from my symptoms. Eventually, I was told that there was no ophthalmologist on call. While I understand that not every hospital has an eye specialist available at all times, I expected someone to examine my eye, explain the next steps, or discuss whether a consultation or transfer to another facility was necessary. Instead, I remained in the hallway feeling overlooked, frightened, and uncertain about whether my condition was being taken seriously. The most disappointing part of my experience was not simply the wait--it was the lack of communication, compassion, and follow-up. Being left in severe pain with worsening symptoms and no meaningful updates made me feel as though my concerns did not matter. Patients deserve to be treated with dignity, kept informed about their care, and reassessed when their condition changes. when the doctor did show up, she treated me, but gave me no insight for a referral. I hope St. Dominic Hospital reviews its emergency department processes, particularly regarding communication with patients, timely reassessment of worsening conditions, and ensuring that patients understand the plan for their care when specialty services are unavailable. No patient who is worried about losing their vision should feel forgotten while waiting for treatment. I sincerely hope my experience leads to improvements so that future patients receive the attentive, compassionate, and timely care they deserve. Sincerely, Shiquita M. Williams

Then the male doctor came and apologized after almost 6 hours .I think he was highly unprofessional came in the room and did not speak him or the nurse.Just to come back to say it's gonna be another 2 hours before she can have surgery so we waited look like over 8-9 hours before she even went to surgery. That is not acceptable and I think he thought that it was okay because they think they can do whatever you have options use them. They prepped her only to sit up for 11 hours waiting on surgery. And the doctor's assistant was named Caroline. She was rude unprofessional. She practically kicked me out of recovery room and gave me a green card. Didn't explain anything. People like you won't have any good luck and you have no business dealing with people with sequences or illnesses of any kind. Shame on you. Shame on this hospital. Y'all should have a better procedure than to make people wait for 11 hours for a 30-minute surgery. My daughter wasn't a priority

What can be fixed if the nurses were rude and apathetic? I can be more specific if that's what's needed. I called the number and got voicemail. In hindsight, I was told fussed at for not walking after delivery but I was in so much pain. I was in so much because I was not receiving pain medicine because I didn't know I was supposed to ask for it. I couldn't lift my right leg and needed help and only after I mentioned to one of the baby nurses did she say why that may be and confirmed I had received and injection in that leg. I was severely anemic prior to delivery so I was already weak. Was given a regular diet after a c-section (my first) so that caused more pain and problems yet just about everyone made me feel like I was the problem. No one thought to step back and say let's fix this and see what's going on? Hopefully, some changes have been made.

NO ONE told my wife and I this beforehand. My wife is only here two weeks before the expected due date due to her blood pressure. Our car seat is stuck in place inside the vehicle and isn't coming out even if Batman and Superman collaborated on it. The overall rating of this visit will depend mightily on how much help we get over the next 24-36 hours. Update: the deal with the car seat ended up not being that big a deal. That said, I'm not sure why it was made into a big deal in the first place. The bellhop-types who helped us wheel our rack of possessions to the car -- with our newborn son in his mother's arms -- were nice and cordial. Nurse Cheryl and Roshell in the nursery department were excellent with us, as was the lactation adviser whose name escapes me. They're the reasons my rating is as high as it is. The checkout process was painfully slow like it is for everyone. Sometimes you have to help folk do their jobs faster, that's all. The customer is always king, not red tape!

I wore it around my neck for 18.5 years from the moment I decided to become a physician to the moment that I finished my training... WITH UMMC. They claim my husband received the heirlooms in a denture box which never occurred. This is a LIE. And so they have rejected my claim. They refuse to produce evidence - no chain-of-custody form, no signature from my husband saying he received the items, no security footage of proof. If you go to this hospital, DO NOT wear any valuables. There is NO chain of custody to monitor anything. I will not drop this. My father's wedding band and my mother's necklace are gone forever because of UMMC and their negligence and they refuse to admit any of it. A damn lie. I served this hospital for years as a physician, I served the patients and the people with excellence in quality of care. And this is how I am treated after my years of service. Where is the chain of custody documentation of hand off? Where is the security footage? Where is the proof? Absolutely unprofessional, unacceptable, and disgusting behavior. I have proudly reported them to Joint Commission and the Mississippi Department of Health. I, as a physician, have seen TOO MANY PATIENTS lose valuables at the hands of UMMC's negligence and lack of chain-of-custody system. I even met with the CMO to discuss this and nothing has changed. UMMC should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for this disgusting behavior and blaming the ANETHETIZED patient and his spouse for losing their family heirlooms. A chain of custody is only as strong as its weakest link, and an investigation built on hearsay has no foundation at all. I am more than ready to battle this corruption in court. My dead father's wedding band is gone forever at the hands of UMMC.
