They acted as they was going to help my father because he had two mini strokes high blood sugar in 2024 and he was living alone doing ok but I needed more help as in putting him in a nursing home to help with cooking hygiene etc... I didn't want him to decline more with his dementia.. he got to this place around 3:30 Saturday morning and went to sleep as they say and of course all acted as they was so helpful and all this was lie lies and more lies... my daddy woke up confused and wanted to go home of course any dementia patient would but instead of helping him understand and making him comfortable they jumped at him and cursed at him and again my daddy is aware of other behavior so he reacted out of scared and apparently grabbed a nurse but still being refused all videos and documents of this incident I still gave them the benefit of the doubt and was super nice to everyone there then the social worker was on top of calling me where to put him and the stuff she needed then when I had concerns of keeping my daddy on serquiol 200 mg three times a day and so doped up to where he is taking zero insulin bc of course he wasn't eating he was sedated all the time and was strapped down.. my dads Nero stated for him to not take serquiol for one he's over 65 second he's had two strokes and third he's high risk of strokes so i called concerned about this and asked can he be given another medication and then this is when no phone calls was being answered the rest of the day we call that afternoon to talk at 2:30 and was told he's asleep so called back at 5:30 and was told again he was also asleep in day room in the Jerry chair I said he's been asleep since 1 are y'all gonna feed him she said laughed and said yes they bringing trays now to feed him so I had my sister call back around 6:10 and they wouldn't even pick up phone for her so we used another phone and answered right away and of course she was told he's alseep already and she asked when does he eat supper she was told he ate at 4 and she told them well you lied to my sister and she said idk I just got here and she said my daddy's a diabetic And again nurses was left message to call back and of course nothing so we slept this off woke up bright and early and called. And said we are coming to get him do not give him any medicines the serquiol for sure she said ok as we arrived the nurse was sooooo rude I asked where is my dads clothes she said he don't have any I said yes he does I brought some Tuesday and tbh he has someone's else's clothes on so she walked away grabbed two yellow bags and threw them down at the door left him sitting still in the Jerry chair all this was done right in front of the supervisor and she was apologizing for her behavior super sweet lady the nurse even told the supervisor since we done a ama we wasn't allowed a wheel chair to even roll him down to the car i spoke up and said you have had this man sedated for a week he can't even walk are u kidding me then the supervisor told her go get some other lady's name and get a wheelchair and she was super sweet also. My daddy's is pure out his mind worse then he's ever been. Next day and he's still in a wheelchair and he walked into this place from south central regional medical center! y'all should be ashamed to keep these patients this sedated! He still can't walk! Last picture is next day we got him Saturday morning after telling them we are coming and do not give him serquiol nurse was very rude and stated she didn't give it to him but if she didn't he would be not this doped up still... rolling him out in a Jerry chair is illegal When this man came in with upper and lower strength all this over him waking up lost and you guys could've been more caring and not approached a dementia patient with hateful attitudes

I am extremely disappointed with the care I received in the Emergency Department at St. Dominic…read moreHospital. I was sent directly to the emergency room by a clinic after being told I had a corneal abrasion, a suspected corneal ulcer, and a swollen eye. The clinic was concerned enough about my condition to send me to the emergency department for further evaluation. Upon arrival, I had to wait over three hours before I was taken to the back but then placed on a gurney in the hallway and told that I would be treated there because my condition was not considered an emergency. I was especially displeased to be the only patient treated in a high-traffic hallway where people continuously passed by, stared, and went on with their day, which made me feel exposed and uncomfortable during an already painful and stressful situation. All other patients were placed in rooms while I was awaiting treatment in the hall. They had the unmitigated gall to write in a marker a room number and taped it on the wall by my gurney with my wristband informauto. taped on the wall as well. I felt degraded and uncared for at the same time. I arrived around 5:00 p.m. and waited for hours without being examined by a physician or other provider. During that time, my symptoms became progressively worse. I repeatedly informed the nursing staff that I was experiencing severe eye pain, extreme sensitivity to light, increasing swelling, and worsening symptoms. Despite expressing my concerns and fear that my vision could be affected, no one came to reassess me or explain the plan for my care. After six hours, I still had no relief from my symptoms. Eventually, I was told that there was no ophthalmologist on call. While I understand that not every hospital has an eye specialist available at all times, I expected someone to examine my eye, explain the next steps, or discuss whether a consultation or transfer to another facility was necessary. Instead, I remained in the hallway feeling overlooked, frightened, and uncertain about whether my condition was being taken seriously. The most disappointing part of my experience was not simply the wait--it was the lack of communication, compassion, and follow-up. Being left in severe pain with worsening symptoms and no meaningful updates made me feel as though my concerns did not matter. Patients deserve to be treated with dignity, kept informed about their care, and reassessed when their condition changes. when the doctor did show up, she treated me, but gave me no insight for a referral. I hope St. Dominic Hospital reviews its emergency department processes, particularly regarding communication with patients, timely reassessment of worsening conditions, and ensuring that patients understand the plan for their care when specialty services are unavailable. No patient who is worried about losing their vision should feel forgotten while waiting for treatment. I sincerely hope my experience leads to improvements so that future patients receive the attentive, compassionate, and timely care they deserve. Sincerely, Shiquita M. Williams

I rarely leave reviews, but after my mother's recent stay, I feel compelled to share our…read moreexperience. From the beginning, there were serious concerns about her care. On May 5, she was in visible distress--crying and shaking from IV pain--yet her discomfort was not addressed with urgency. Instead of removing the painful IV when requested, a nurse proceeded to place another one while she was still in pain. The same nurse also rushed her through discharge paperwork without ensuring she understood what she was signing, which felt dismissive and inappropriate. Medication management was another major issue. At discharge, medications that had already been discontinued were still listed and even administered. The discharge paperwork contained inaccurate information, which could have led to serious harm if my mother hadn't caught it herself. This points to breakdowns in communication and patient safety protocols. When I asked to speak with a patient advocate, the situation was escalated unnecessarily instead of being handled appropriately. It did not seem like staff were prepared to respond to patient concerns in a supportive or informed way. What was especially troubling was overhearing staff refuse to assist another elderly patient who needed help using the bathroom, leaving them in an unacceptable condition. Witnessing that contributed to our growing concern about the level of care being provided. We also had issues with discharge planning. Despite ongoing symptoms, our request for an additional night of observation was denied. Prescriptions were sent to a pharmacy two hours away instead of the hospital pharmacy as requested, creating unnecessary stress at discharge. Basic care needs were difficult to meet throughout the stay. Assistance with bathing was delayed, and we often had to request cleaning for the bathroom. The environment did not feel consistently maintained, and the layout made it difficult for someone with mobility challenges to use safely. Case management support was also lacking. When we asked for help with medical equipment and supplies, we were told to coordinate everything ourselves. The response felt dismissive and did not reflect the level of support we expected during discharge planning. Overall, this experience resulted in a complete loss of confidence in the facility. My mother now feels unsafe returning due to concerns about communication, care quality, and patient safety. I hope this feedback leads to meaningful improvements, because no patient or family should have to go through an experience like this.

I came with him to his doctor visits and the hospital was laid out very well and nice. Everything was sanitary and clean. Such a beautiful facility. Top of the line nurses and doctors are employed here. Also, I had attended a summer program for health professions here, it was called SHP (School of Health Professions), I learned a lot about what careers they had to offer and honestly I wish I would have stay in the sip to pursue my nursing career. Anywho, all of the staff is friendly and down to earth.

I wore it around my neck for 18.5 years from the moment I decided to become a physician to the moment that I finished my training... WITH UMMC. They claim my husband received the heirlooms in a denture box which never occurred. This is a LIE. And so they have rejected my claim. They refuse to produce evidence - no chain-of-custody form, no signature from my husband saying he received the items, no security footage of proof. If you go to this hospital, DO NOT wear any valuables. There is NO chain of custody to monitor anything. I will not drop this. My father's wedding band and my mother's necklace are gone forever because of UMMC and their negligence and they refuse to admit any of it. A damn lie. I served this hospital for years as a physician, I served the patients and the people with excellence in quality of care. And this is how I am treated after my years of service. Where is the chain of custody documentation of hand off? Where is the security footage? Where is the proof? Absolutely unprofessional, unacceptable, and disgusting behavior. I have proudly reported them to Joint Commission and the Mississippi Department of Health. I, as a physician, have seen TOO MANY PATIENTS lose valuables at the hands of UMMC's negligence and lack of chain-of-custody system. I even met with the CMO to discuss this and nothing has changed. UMMC should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for this disgusting behavior and blaming the ANETHETIZED patient and his spouse for losing their family heirlooms. A chain of custody is only as strong as its weakest link, and an investigation built on hearsay has no foundation at all. I am more than ready to battle this corruption in court. My dead father's wedding band is gone forever at the hands of UMMC.

That is not acceptable and I think he thought that it was okay because they think they can do whatever you have options use them. They prepped her only to sit up for 11 hours waiting on surgery. Dr Nash walked in the door, very pleasant. I told her my history, and she actually had information on me! We discussed my issues, she was knowledgeable, understanding and personality plus. I was shocked with her, I finally found an excellent Doctor. She is so personable and understood what tests I needed. She was conservative regarding the amount of tests. Usually you get a Doctor that wants you to take tests, x-rays, etc. Not her!! She is the opposite. I have been feeling awful. But, she invigorated me. I had the best day. People said "what did you take today", nothing!! I felt so good today, because I found hope!! It's December 15, 2020. I went to the office and met "Dr" Scott!! I was greeted by Maddi, RN student. I went to the window and was greeted by Sarah, office manager, and Grace, office assistant. They were friendly and helpful. Carrie, LPN took my vitals. She is knowledgeable and pleasant! I only waited for 10 minutes! When Scott came in the room, he was vivacious, researched my problem. He is truly amazing. I finally was able to come inside, as I had Covid for 5-6 weeks. I tested positive in the parking lot. I felt so comfortable, as he has an unbelievable bed side manner. We discussed my issue and he wanted me to see a specialist. He called them, and they called me, in a few hours!! I'm going to the specialist on Monday. This was unbelievable?! I felt so respected and it was an excellent consult. Thank you guys!! I went to Dr Nash's office last week. They diagnosed my Covid. After 4 months, I still have symptoms. We are called long haulers. I couldn't wait to see Dr" Scott. I was still was exhausted from Covid. When he comes into your room, you are greeted with a huge smile! I actually started to feel better. He is hilarious, empathetic, clever and the best bedside manner. He ordered blood test, and spent so much time with me. He has the best referrals. The doctors he sends me to are wonderful, and sends the results to 'DR" Scott. I want to thank Carrie, she is amazing. She also has a great bedside manner. She is thoughtful, caring, always an upper! The office staff is wonderful, as well. Thanks to Sarah, Ashley, Julie, Jill and Grace!

What can be fixed if the nurses were rude and apathetic? I can be more specific if that's what's needed. I called the number and got voicemail. In hindsight, I was told fussed at for not walking after delivery but I was in so much pain. I was in so much because I was not receiving pain medicine because I didn't know I was supposed to ask for it. I couldn't lift my right leg and needed help and only after I mentioned to one of the baby nurses did she say why that may be and confirmed I had received and injection in that leg. I was severely anemic prior to delivery so I was already weak. Was given a regular diet after a c-section (my first) so that caused more pain and problems yet just about everyone made me feel like I was the problem. No one thought to step back and say let's fix this and see what's going on? Hopefully, some changes have been made.

NO ONE told my wife and I this beforehand. My wife is only here two weeks before the expected due date due to her blood pressure. Our car seat is stuck in place inside the vehicle and isn't coming out even if Batman and Superman collaborated on it. The overall rating of this visit will depend mightily on how much help we get over the next 24-36 hours. Update: the deal with the car seat ended up not being that big a deal. That said, I'm not sure why it was made into a big deal in the first place. The bellhop-types who helped us wheel our rack of possessions to the car -- with our newborn son in his mother's arms -- were nice and cordial. Nurse Cheryl and Roshell in the nursery department were excellent with us, as was the lactation adviser whose name escapes me. They're the reasons my rating is as high as it is. The checkout process was painfully slow like it is for everyone. Sometimes you have to help folk do their jobs faster, that's all. The customer is always king, not red tape!
