Joe, is an very funny, fun and exceptional driver and kept us all very safe while navigating a very busy day on the river and even allowing us to have a little fun on the way down and see a little water on the windshield ;) All while always keeping safety in mind. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, and the guides shared so many historical interesting facts about the area's history, wildlife, and geology along the way, which made the trip even more enjoyable. Their passion for what they do really shows. They stopped to let us swim and picked a spot that we had all to ourselves! Later they provided a thoughtful box lunch which was very good! Sandwich, chips, carrots with ranch dip, cookie and a granola bar! Whether you're a first-time visitor or someone who just loves the outdoors, this is an experience that's well worth it. There were granola bars and coffee at the first stop, then a couple of mail stops, then we had sack lunches at Copper Creek Lodge. They all had an amazing general knowledge of botany, zoology, geography, and natural history. If an individual guide could not answer your question, they were quick to research it in their extensive library or consult other guides. This trip was a reunion for me in 17 of my West Point classmates. The guides did an amazing job of making it entertaining, enjoyable and memorable.

The best part? The company. The oars staff were friendly, highly-capable, and were the most entertaining part of the trip. I've never talked so much my whole life, but these guys were a hoot. We saw a few people get drunk, beligerant, and not wearing PFDs across the river one day. Some of the other river guide companies do not operate a tight ship. I'm so glad we went with OARS because my stress level was zero other than the rapids. The 5-day down the Snake River was perfect as you really get into the groove of rafting that 3rd day. I just wish I could have stayed on the river longer!
