Every now and then you find a business that really has their act together, and for sewing and vacuum repair, this is it. I have a great Shark vacuum that needed a replacement power cord. I must have called every other vacuum repair shop in the valley, and as soon as they heard "Shark" they all told me that they didn't work on that brand. This place said "sure, $49". And they did it in record time. Typically a vacuum repair would mean leaving the appliance in the shop for a week or two; this place was done in 2 days. Another time I had lost suction on a vac, and I couldn't figure out what went wrong. I took it to River Road Sew & Vac, and before I had finished describing the problem the repair guy had taken the vacuum apart, fixed the problem, and put it back together. When you find somebody like this, who really KNOWS their business, you keep them. My niece has recently gotten interested in sewing, and was excited that she found a Singer machine at Goodwill for a bargain price. Of course the machine had problems and needed work. We took this -- probably 50-year old -- machine to this place, and in 3 days it was running like new, for a fraction of what some of the other places had quoted us for a simple cleaning and lube. And yes, the owner has a very sweet dog that hangs out in the back of the shop. Puts a smile on my face every time I visit. Sewing machine or vacuum need work? This is the place to go. read more

I called a week ago to check price and availability on a Sebo Felix, the owner told me that they had it in stock for $799.00 (the same price as Amazon) and if I found it cheaper, he would match it. I went in today and showed him a sale price from an authorized dealer for $699.00, he shook his head and said no, that has to be old stock that they didn't have to pay tariffs on. I don't need excuses, if he wasn't prepared to match a lower price, he shouldn't have said so. So I apologize for taking up his time and left, he was quick to comment before I got to the door that if I had any problems with it, find another place to take it. Five minutes later, I was at Paramount sewing and vacuum just 3 miles down the road. They had the same model on sale for 749.00 and when I asked about a price match, the manager was kind enough to call the owner and they agreed to give me a box of eight bags for free which came out to $43.00. I brought my Shark Vacuum in because it was sucking up no more. The gentleman was cranky and rude. It took him 1 min to fix it, and he snapped at me for not paying attention to how to do it myself. He showed me again, and I thanked him. He told me I owed him $20 for the learning lesson. The whole time, he was grumbling at me. Another man was present, and he reprimanded him for providing incorrect information. Most places I have been for help with fixing something, and it is an easy fix, do it and smile, and they say "No Charge", thanks for coming in. After a useless visit to Paramount Sewing, I was pretty much in tears because they couldn't help me, and I was literally afraid no one could. So I called here and spoke to the owner. He was so kind, helpful, and patient. Asked questions, told me what prices were upfront, super knowledgeable and welcoming. I told him I was literally 5 minutes away at Paramount, and I'd be in. He was waiting at the back door for me to arrive. He even had parts ready and waiting on the counter for me. After my less than stellar visit to Paramount Sewing, the owner here was like a breath of fresh air! He has the sweetest puppy, so I got my puppy fix while I was in. The whole experience made my day. His welcoming attitude, knowledge, loving the sweetest puppy. It totally made my day a bit brighter, and I appreciated that. The shop is small, and if you aren't looking for it, you'll drive right by it without even realizing it. But once you know, you know. Prices here are definitely cheaper for sewing machine repair, compared to Paramount on the same street. But more importantly than prices being cheaper, the experience level of the owner simply can't be compared. He's also significantly more efficient (hence the experience level) with repair times. He quoted me a week, where Paramount quoted 2-3 weeks and at least $50 more. Fast forward a week... I came to pick up my machine, and it looks brand new! It's a 1948 Singer, and Dane brought it back to life for me with the TLC it needed. That sewing machine brings me so much joy to use, and having it working again is simply amazing. I could not be any happier with Dane's work. Would I return here? For life! Like, no joke. This is the kind of business I want to get behind and tell everyone about. Because on top of doing such high quality work, the owner is just a genuinely kind person you will enjoy talking to. read more

My husband bought a vacuum cleaner without me being there. (Helpful hint: husbands do not do this!) I did NOT like it! I took it back and the man worked patiently with me to help me find the vacuum cleaner I liked and wanted. He went out of his way to make sure I was happy with the purchase. I made the mistake of bringing my sewing machine in for a cleaning and tuneup. Not only did they not clean it, they broke the lid on my $3,000 + machine, they didn't fix the 2 things I requested be fixed. I was thinking I wanted to buy a Juki as a second machine. I still will buy one, just not from this place. Save yourself money and frustration and go somewhere else. read more

It's been a long while since I've busted out the old Singer but trying recently to get back into sewing. I thought there was something wrong with my machine so I took it in. The man who was working (possibly the owner?) took a look at it and turns out it was just user error (face palm). I felt so silly, but he was so non-judgmental and gave mini-tutorial on some of the functions I had forgotten about. I was so worried that I ruined my sewing machine from a rookie mistake but I brought it in to river road sew and vac and he was able to fix it so quickly and without judgment! My 15-year old Kenmore upright vacuum seemed to have seen its last days until I took it to River Road Sew & Vac. For a fraction of the cost of buying a new vacuum (which I'll have to do eventually) they cleaned my old vac inside and out including the light spray of paint that resulted from my house painter not taking care to cover things! The Hepa filter was replaced as was the brush roller. Now my old vac is performing like it did when it was new! I would definitely recommend this business and, when my trusty vacuum finally bites the dust (pun intended), I'll buy my new vacuum from them, too. read more

I brought in a lamp we purchased 20 years ago for repair . Unfortunately as I suspected the lamp was not repairable. I do appreciate the efforts & time trying to repair it. No charge he said because he wasn't able to repair it. The customer service really is great & the folks there very friendly . My wife's old Singer sewing machine pedal finally died. Rather than ordering a dozen wrong parts online we decided to try a couple local shops to see if they could help. On our second call Dane offered to look at it on the spot if we brought it over. 40 mins later we have a new hard wired foot pedal and Dane carried replacement LED COB bulbs to replace the aging incandescent bulb in the machine.
