I have shopped here for many years. The staff has always been attentive to me as a customer and knowledgeable about the machines they sell while not hovering while I looked around. Their selection of machines is unparalleled, and they have seasonal sales that are downright irresistible! Their selection of fabrics is fantastic, and their repair, and their repair staff is top notch. I recommend this store highly! Update: I have been taking Millie's drop-in garment class in Eugene for several months, and I can't say enough good about it. Millie is a deeply knowlegeable, patient and fun instructor who has walked me through the most basic information (how to cut out a pattern!) through every step of each project I brought to class. in the past I would have given a better review however the last time, end of the year 2025, I took my machine in for service and it came back with the gold front, Bernina 765, bunged up. They deny this happened while in their care. I know it's a he said she said sort of a situation but I know without a doubt it was not like that when I took it in. I have been in this store twice in the last week, and my experience has been mediocre. I stopped in last week because it was so close to Toxic and I wanted to find out if they did sewing machine repair. They do. So today I brought my machine in. Both times there was an older lady in there who makes it abundantly clear if she feels like you don't belong. I guess people with tattoos shouldn't sew? She's that kind of a judgmental woman. Like I've been judged less harshly attending a Southern Baptist church with visible tattoos than what I was by this woman. She was that bad. Today when I took my machine in, she was livid because I brought it in still in the desk that holds it. I had no clue it came out, or that I was supposed to remove it before coming in. She failed to mention that last week. Besides her, I dealt with a machine repair employee named Jesse. Who was actually useful. He couldn't do the repair I needed, but pointed me in the right direction. Jesse is the only reason this is a 3 star review instead of a 1 star. Both times I went in, it felt intrusive. The older woman was sitting at a machine sewing, and she made it feel like I was interrupting. Would I return? No, I can't say I would. I found a far better and more welcoming business just down the road, and I'll become a repeat customer there instead. Which kind of annoys me, honestly. Do not take your Bernina sewing machine in for service. I took mine in for a repair of a specific problem. My receipt said service, runs great, problem fixed. Went home and problem still there. Went back and after sitting there trying the machine for a hour, it still had a problem. I was told it was just an old machine and couldn't be fixed. Tried to come up with a reasonable settlement like reduce the charge but the owner refused. He is the one who told me it was old and couldn't be fixed. Took it to a different service person and amazingly enough it now works great. read more

I am a long time Paramount customer and can recommend Paramount without reservation. I've bought 3 Janome machines (trading up each time) and a Meile vacuum. Each has been a great investment! Additionally, maintenance and repairs are readily available, though delays may occur due to the high volume of the store's business and popularity. I'm familiar with both current owners and nearly all employees at both the Eugene store and at Salem's. Help is always available - whether how to use a new machine or advice on colors or sewing supplies, etc. This is my go-to store for quilting supplies, fabric and vacuum bags! read more

I bought a Bernina. I went to Paramount to purchase but they would not give me trade in credit for 3 year old Baby Lock that had embroidery. Went back to Mary Ann in Eugene but she sold shop to Rich's Vac and Sew. He gave me $1000 credit for Baby Baby Lock. I never got lessons, they were too busy. Shortly after that they closed shop. Went to Paramount for help. They will not give me lessons since I did not buy from them. I offered to pay for lessons. Was told again same thing. I have never used embroidery components as I do not know how. Cut to problem with Paramount. Bernina 780E quit working. Took to Paramount for repair on January 24, 2023. Was told $200 shop fee. I agreed, got receipt for turning machine in for repair. Then sales person came up and told me they made mistake. Fee was $250. I said I was told $200. Anyway they held fast. Went home, called store. Was told $250, final! So, never heard anything re repair update. Over the months I have called "Jessie" repair person. Seldom have I received updates, other than current repair would consist of a part costing $400, which I okayed. Then I called, told wrong part, wanted permission for another part. This went on 3 times! Then advised they were going to send to factory. I had to pay $200 for shipping. Still no info. I have left negative comments on their Facebook. Every time (twice) they call to explain, apologized! Today, Sept 15, 2023 the manager of their 2 stores (Eugene and Salem) called in response to my comment on how long it's been (Jan 2023)! He was matter of fact, it is my problem since I didn't buy from them. I explained why and he said, "too bad, you made the wrong choice"! I told him I was keeping my Quilt and sister Guilds updating on my Bernina. He accused me of threatening him, got very nasty and hung up on me! WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT GO TO PARAMOUNT VAC AND SEW IN EUGENE, OREGON!!! They are NOT nice folks!!! read more

Update on my 8/16 review: A couple of days after my review, I got a call from the owner of the business. He told me that he reported my review, because he had "no idea who I was," but I find that funny, since he knew which phone number to call to speak with me. Considering I don't think my phone number is sitting publicly on my Yelp profile, I'm not sure where else he would've gotten it. He proceeded to go on for about 20 minutes about why my review was wrong. He completely brushed off my experience with a rude employee, because he knows who she is, and that she just has a "dry sense of humor." He went on and on about how he doesn't use those $9 Amazon bobbin cases, because they don't have the correct tension. However, not only can I not find these magical $36 bobbin cases online, the $36 bobbin case I did receive has... wait for it... crappy tension. The way he spoke to me was like a parent scolding a child. I could not believe it and I wish I had just hung up on him. Pro tip, dude: if someone has a complaint about your business practices, try hearing them out next time instead of lecturing them on why they're wrong. read more

The service here is horrible especially Susan the one who dose the ordering. They ordered the wrong foot plate for my serger which took a month to get in. Then the right plate was ordered, after two month of waiting for the right plate it never came. I called multiple times through out the two months, experiencing rudeness and no return calls. They are issuing me a check because i still have no plate for my serger. I have lost business and money due to they're lack of professionalism. read more

I've been going to this shop for over a year for vacuum repair and sawing needs (yes, I love to sew & I am only in my 20's) and I still have mixed feeling about them. The problem isn't there items for sale. (Whatever I need, they have!) The problem is the people working there. Everyone working their can be friendly & helpful with one BIG exception. There is this one lady that works there (shit she may even own the place) who has a serious case of the evil eye!! She will follow you around the store and stare @ you like you're about to toss something in your purse and make a run for it. She has this way of making you feel guilty for asking her to help you find the right needle or even walking in the door. She talks down to you and constantly interrupts you when you're trying to answer a questions she just asked you. I avoid her like she is a rabbi infected raccoon that is after my brains! Besides her everyone else seems to be very friendly and kind. They never try to up sale you, are always willing to share their personal sawing secrets/ tips and never lay on any pressure to buy anything. I would encourage people to go & try it for them self. But if you see a lady in her 70's with short salt & pepper hair- make a run for it!!! She's mean! read more

Soooo...my first time visiting the store! Yikes...so rude made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable!. They tried to sell me a cord for 30.00 that I can purchase on line for 5.99....they had sooo many beautiful fabrics and sewing machines.....but they lack kindness/hospitality and not so trusting with pricing! I stopped in today with 2 of my daughters. Just bought my 11 year old an old machine as she wants to learn how to sew. Mikki grabbed the matching and threw a few used parts on it to get us rolling. Very impressed with the customer service and kindness to fix a CHEAP sewing machine. So often people see a "throw away" machine as garbage and she was quite the opposite. I brought in an old Pfaff machine with a stuck hand wheel that I bought off eBay expecting to get it serviced. The two people I met were both very friendly, and the repairman who took a look at my machine got it working within minutes! He was very good with the machine and didn't charge anything for his fantastic work. He even gave me an old manual for it from the back. I had a great experience in this shop and will definitely be back if I need more help with my machine. read more

This place ROCKS! I read other reviews but my experience was so totally different. I brought in my Janome sewing machine and was so sure I was going to have to leave it for repair. I live in Coos Bay so the trip there isn't very convenient for me. A gal named Banner greeted me and was so friendly. She checked my machine and quickly found the problem. Easy fix. No charge. She was very informative and so helpful. The store has so much to offer in the way of machine accessories, threads and helpful info. I'd make the trip just to browse. I brought in my mothers singer featherweight about a year ago. The gentleman who repairs them was very knowledgeable and fair. He explained the problem in Clear and friendly communication. I was very happy with the repair he did right there in the store and with the amount he charged. I remember thinking , that's how it used to be in the " old days". The people working in this store are amazingly helpful! They will work with you until you are happy. I purchased my first high end sewing machine from them. After 2 months I was having so much trouble with it. I brought it back 4 times, they tried something new, worked with me but finally they switched me out for a new and different machine. I am very pleased with the conditions of my Pfaff sewing machine and Baby Lock serger after taking them in for servicing at Paramount. We moved here from Colorado four years ago and, while I used to get them serviced every year, I hadn't gotten around to finding a place in Oregon yet, as we live on the coast. The difference in sewing on my Pfaff today and before I took it in is like how I felt when I first got glasses and could read again! I hadn't realized how much I was fighting my machine. It's smooth as glass now, with perfect tension. The people at Paramount were pleasant and efficient and the turn-around was just a few days. Went to Paramount today (Saturday) to get my Miele upright vac fixed. They are certified to work on Miele vacuum cleaners, which lent to my decision in going here. In addition, I had poor experiences with several other sewing-vac businesses in the area (see my other reviews if interested). Paramount, however, rose to the occasion providing superb customer service. I was immediately assisted by the person who repairs vacuum cleaners. They happened to have the needed part on-hand. It took about 5 minutes for them to repair my vacuum cleaner. They were very professional and generous, only charging me for the part, not labor. In addition, they gave me a free airbag. Paramount is clearly not just merely interested in selling items to customers but are invested in providing top-notch service. The store is also very well organized. They have a computer system in which they log your purchases and repairs, so as to keep track of warranties for you. Go here for your Miele vacuum cleaner needs. read more
