We visited because they had Cousins Mai e Lobster Food truck at an event, so glad we did. I asked for the lightest beer and she recommended the Light Rock, it was light but still had a great flavor. Location is family friendly with casual seating and even a foosball table. Great place!!! read more

I was there when Maine lobster was there. Female bartender was nice and friendly. Knew the beers made suggestions. i was expecting more beers on tap, they were out of what felt like a lot. Beer was good. Need to go back to see if it is consistent. The brewery area needs to be cleaned up and organized. I should not see stuff just laying around. Place needs a good cleaning, dust on the stuff around the seating area. Seemed cluttered and things need to be put away. will go back, to see if things improve. read more

River Rock is pretty easy to find with ample parking shared with other businesses in that lot. We were greeted nicely. My first impression was that it was a bit messy inside. Mix and matches of tables and chairs not in any order and refrigerators and assorted paraphernalia on the walls and against the walls...I get that things (furniture etc) cost a lot so not obsessed with the ambience as there looked to be plenty of seating for patrons. They had a pool table and foos ball table. All the beers we had were good and fairly priced. Bathrooms weren't highly clean. If we pass through town again, we'd probably stop for a quick cold one again. Looked like they sell beer making equipment too. read more

Brilliant! :-D My first visit here and Ed was able to serve me up an IPA that pleased my picky taste buds. Rarely do I find one of these I actually like, but River Rock had one. It was a triple, too. Hop Ahead Sam Triple, to be precise. It's like the mastermind behind River Rock read my mind. Not only that, the Mossy Rock Scotch Ale sealed the deal for me as to whether this Brewer's Garage of a place is as good as the locals have told me. Bravo! It was strong, but not overbearing, flavorful, but not in the way that curls nose hairs. If you drink a lot of Scotch Ales you know what I mean. Everyone else probably thinks I'm a nutter, and who am I to disagree? Colleen W. and I had planned to meet up here with the menfolk and kick it in the best way we know how. It became a surprise UYE when who should walk in the door but David M. and his lovely wife! River Rock will get a mention the next time someone asks me which beer spots are great in the Lodi area. I appreciated the simple, laidback vibe of this place from the moment I pulled up a bar stool at the tiled countertop space. The space is really nothing fancy, and that's alright with me. It was clean, smelled nice, everyone was friendly, and the beer is good. Needless complaints are tiresome. As the taps are always rotating with experiments, future visits are necessary. So as you can tell I have been here a LOT, it shows 27 check ins but I've definitely been here more or had my husband run down to fill up our growlers. Seriously, Ed brews some of the best beers I've ever had and he continues to excite me with new 'experiments'. He definitely is not shy about taking risks and somehow it always seems to work out. I also appreciate that he welcomes feedback/input from his patrons. I love that the beer is all so good, the quality is obviously there. l love that its not your average beer, these are not your run of the mill beer styles. So if you want average beers you can get everywhere else then go somewhere else. If you want to try something new, come to River Rock, you won't be disappointed. What can I say... this place is awesome. Although I don't get to frequent River Rock as often as I would like, it's always such a fun time when I can swing by on my visits to Galt. Ed always has a great variety of beers available for anyone's beer pallet (and this is coming from a gal who LOVES her wine). I even took my mom there (and she enjoys coors light as her beer of choice) and she found a few beers that she really enjoyed. I love following River Rock on Instagram because they always have some fun food vendor that floats by. Just about every Tuesday, they have "taco Tuesday" as well. Because I live in Idaho, I unfortunately have not been able to attend a taco Tuesday, but it always makes me drool a little. If you're around the Galt area, I highly recommend stopping by river rock and grabbing a beer. You won't be disappointed or bit! read more

What do you get when you mix five star beer in a three star location? You get River Rock Brewery in Galt. One of the newer locations in Sacramento County serving fresh beer is located in downtown Galt on C Street. Limited parking is on the side of the building. Just look for the cartoon face with the hop beard. The interior of the building has ghosts of facilities past, possibly a Mexican restaurant or five and dime at some point. It is now a funky brewery with a small selection of home brewing equipment for sale. The beer is the star here with some legit brew. My rye Irish ale was on point with a great taste and balance. Selection may be limited due to limited production and having a popular beer! Like many taprooms these days, River Rock lacks central air conditioning making summer days a bit tough. The limited seating is basic, but the main serving bar looks great and keeps you closer to the taps. I am glad to see Galt get some decent beer and wish them the best! read more

This place is great for anyone who wants a good beer, and it's even better for the local brewer. I went in here for the first time looking for just a good beer extract kit. Most brew stores don't sell the ready to go boxes, and snub their noses at anyone who isn't doing all grain, but for the brew I just wanted a quick and easy kit to make on Superbowl Sunday. I went in there and he had a great selection of extract kits at amazing prices. I looked at some of the other equipment prices and he is the same or cheaper than many of the online brewing stores and Amazon, and you don't have to pay the exorbitant shipping that a lot of the online brewing stores charge. I also tried two of his beers that night and saw he had 4-5 more beers coming up on tap in the next few weeks. My wife and I came back a week later and had his chocolate milk stout and his cream ale and they were both really well made and complex flavor. As for the interior I appreciate the DIY feel of the store. Most brewing stores are set up the same way, buy an empty storefront or warehouse front, put up some shelving and make it work. Brewing stores aren't about the homely feel, they are about that DIY feel and the beer brewing smell, and this place gives that to you. We will definitely be back often and I will be buying a lot of my brewing supplies from here. read more

Great jewel in the town of galt. The beer had a wonderful selection from your red to ipas to the spicy sekection. I had the November fest which was bomb. However, my go too for the IPA fans is the the double IPA. Everyone there was super friendly and made my visit super memorable. Just moving to north cali I haven't had the privilege to meet some nice people here but after coming here I changed my perspective on northern cali. The beer is epic! And the locals who visit were upmost kind and very informative. The owner is very funny. Been in galt for over 60 years, very funny guy. The bartender. What can I say is hard not to take your eyes off. Very appealing and has a great smile. Great excuse to come back. People of galt please come to this brewery, you wont regret. Disappointed.. Our first time her was amazing, the couple that was working were super friendly, they stayed open for us so we could have a second pint and get to go cans filled to enjoy the fabulous beer they serve here on our camping trip. Today we went there and the guy said we close at 8. We would have loved to have a couple pints between the 4 of us and cans of the hazy to go, but he wouldn't let us. We sucked down a pint and took our pizza that we got delivered to go. We live in southern california and would have loved to have taken several to go cans to share with all our friends. read more

I love this place! ED is truly amazing! This is one of the best breweries in the area. They also partner with food vendors and have a really good BBQ. My favorite is the chocolate milk stout. The owner knows how to brew good beer he is still trying to get things going as far as atmosphere so I may go back once the kinks are worked out. Been there a few times and the last 4 beers I had were flat. Two of them I was charged for two of them I wasn't charged for? Beer cannot be rushed and to have beer on-tap that was keg'd the same day means there is no carbonation. Maybe I am the only one who notices this? Like I said I may go back but for now I'll stick to the breweries who don't try to rush things.....Like Beer! read more
