My best friend and I love to get together and check out the wineries in Lodi. For this week's trip we wanted to visit Van Ruiten! We found out about Van Ruiten while attending the 2026 Lodi Grape Festival. The owner was so friendly and was pouring their new Sparkling Rose and Blanc De Blanc. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we arrived at the winery, they had a good amount of people inside and outside but there was still plenty of seating for either option.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior is lovely with a beautiful scenic painting on the left wall.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They sell cute Knickknacks for your home as well. We ordered a bottle of the sparkling Rose and set out on the patio to enjoy some bubbles under the shade. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love the way they have the vines growing above you in the patio area, it was so beautiful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was a family having a picnic, so it appears to be perfect for large groups as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall It was a nice experience and will for sure be back again. But he did accommodate us and we made conversation with him. This place was great. Very dog friendly. Able to bring the dog inside and they have a grassy area and a dog a dog waste station. $15 for a flight of wine and it was a good pour. Enough to share even. We got 4 bottles of rh Blanc De Blancs. It's so crisp and refreshing. My boyfriend doesn't really like bubbles but loved this!!! Staff super friendly and nice. Nice outside patio and seating area. Nice winery with a gorgeous outdoor space. Very good wines. We liked the sideways Zinfandel and the late harvest Zinfandel. Calli Grace was singing and playing guitar, beautiful voice. We bought 6 bottles of wine. They covered one of our tasting fees...probably should have covered two but the gal was new and not very knowledgeable. This was our second stop in our wine tasting day as we were sending my nephew off to his deployment. We were excited because when we made the reservation for 12 people they said we would be in the barrel room and it made us feel as if we were going to get an amazing meal experience. We couldn't be more wrong! We were taken back to the room which was set up nicely and told that we were told there was a list of wines and that we needed to pick 5 wines for the group to taste. This is where is started to go downhill. The person never came back we waited 15 minutes and finally we went to take our paper with our selection in to the employees. Another 15 minutes passed and the gentleman came out with the first bottle and told us our first selection and poured 2 glasses and we told him it was the incorrect wine he realized it was and went to get the correct wine. He told us what wine we chose poured everyone a glass and left. We were expecting for him to explain to us a little something about the wine we knew nothing about this winery, the brand, or the wine. I had my son in law chose the wines because his family owns a well know wine company. 20 minutes passed the gentleman came back with the second wine and the same thing no explanation nothing just poured it and left. Now remember we are wine tasting so if didn't like the wine we are supposed to pour it into a spit bucket. We had nothing so we poured what we didn't like into an empty glass. So let's go on with our wine tasting experience.... For the next 1 1/2 hour the gentleman would bring out the wines in order as we chose them and would just say... the next wine you chose is this then he would pour it and leave us alone. I had to go find them to pour our best couple of wines. When I went into the tasting room the employees were chit chatting with what appeared regulars. Remember we have no idea about this wine or winery and we still Haven't gotten any information or explanations. We asked to have the final wines brought out back to back with only 5 minutes in between and that still didn't happen. This winery may be ok for small groups but definitely not accommodating for large groups it's almost as if they were put out that they had a large group. It's unfortunate because you would with it being a small family owned winery they would want to educate visitors about the winery and the wine. The wine unfortunately was mediocre to us but the whole experience factored in on our thoughts on the actual wine. I always give a place a second try so I may do that but in a small group. read more

This winery gets top points for their patio. The wines are good, don't get me wrong, but the patio is the best part. The wines are served on a nice board in plastic cups and you are given a glass wine glass to pour into when tasting. This is an excellent idea! The patio is no C19 afterthought, for sure. The age of the vines growing up the columns to create the pergola shows that this space for the customers was planned long ago. There is copious amounts of space and all under pergola and shade-sails. Tastings fees are charged whether you buy wine or not. I see positives and negatives to that. I think they are waived only if you join the club. In my case, I just wanted to taste and had no intention of buying so it was nice to not be suggestive-sold into buying wine or even joining the club. Just pay my tasting fee and I'm out. read more

We hard a larger group visit for a tasting, which they were able to accommodate us perfectly. They have a variety of wines to choose from at different price points ($10 or $15). There is plenty of space, amazing customer service, and ample parking. If I'm not mistaken they also comped the wine tasting for our bride to be that we were celebrating. read more

Came on a Sunday. Apparently no wine tasting on Sunday's (makes no sense) when their website clearly states daily wine tasting from 11AM to 5PM (vrwinery.com). To add a "cherry"on top, they were out of charcuterie boxes at 1pm. Additionally, the live music was questionable to say the least. Thus we hopped on our bicycles and went elsewhere. This was my husbands first time wine tasting. You have the option to taste 5 wines. Surprisingly my husband enjoyed most of his wines and he purchased a bottle of Chardonnay. We showed up right at opening time, the 3 ladies in the front were very friendly and we were served promptly. And throughout the time there they kept checking if we were doing ok. I rate Van Ruiten as 5 Star because they deserve it! (I, in fact, 'hate' Star rating systems because invariably too much attention is placed there.) I wish that I had known about their winery earlier rather then just happening onto it one time. It is truly a 'destination'! There are times that we think about stopping there just for the ambiance or because it is very pleasant to sit on the patio with our dogs (well behaved, plus we consider other patrons). The tasting experience and service are superb and such that it is always wonderful (even tho' they can become quite busy, minor delays appear to be interludes providing opportunity to 'drink' in the savoir-faire - pun awareness certainly appropriate!)!! It was pouring so I didn't get to experience the patio or music that everyone raves about. There were several people inside so the tasting area was a bit crowded. They took a large group to the back, but there were still several people in the front. The staff is friendly and the place looked lovely decorated for Christmas. They have a bunch of cute items for sale. My aunt and I both got a pair of socks that say "I think my guardian angel drinks" we thought it was funny. We also walked out with a strawberry rhubarb pie because wine not (bad pun, move on). They were having a really good Black Friday sale going on which I think contributed to the amount of people who were inside. I'm looking forward to coming back when the weather is better. We enjoy the music on the patio on Sundays during September and October. They have barre and bubbles classes a few times throughout the year. They have a sip and sparkle ladies event once a year in November. They have great wines, at great prices. Our favorites are the old vine zin $19.99, Pinot noir $19.99, the cab, 17.99. All very reasonable, they also have a great everyday wine called glory days- they have a cab or a zin. $10 each. We buy these by the case. They also have a great wine club. Discount is 20% on all wine purchases, 30% off all cases. Member only invited to special events Complimentary tastings and tours. Quarterly 2 bottle shipments. We often bring a picnic and our dogs, then enjoy a nice afternoon on the patio. Plenty of parking, and great family feel. read more

Spend a day wine tasting in Lodi, first stop harney lane, excellent wines across the board. Tasting fee waved if you buy a bottle. After an underwhelming tasting at van ruiten we bought two bottles, tasting fee not waved which they should tell you prior. Wouldn't have bought any wine here. You have to buy 4 bottles to wave the fee. There weren't 4 wines worth buying. $30 tasting fee & 2 bottles $100. So many great wineries in Lodi, I'd skip this one. Lesson learned! This place doesn't warrant tasting fees that aren't waved when purchasing wine. read more

This winery deserves all five of these stars! My family and I came here wine tasting yesterday and wow was I amazed. The lady greeted us outside of our limo and brought us inside for our wine tasting. The two young ladies that helped us were wonderful, there customer service was phenomenal! They were very knowledgeable and answered any questions we had with ease! The winery itself was beautiful and they had lots of Knick knacks to look at and buy! Part of our Harvest Host program but wasn't able to stay the night due to an issue I'm having with my batteries. Sooo frustrating! This winery is awesome! Pet friendly!
