This is the first negative review I have written on any club where I have been a member. The food is average. The clubhouse facilities are average. The golf staff is outstanding. However, the golf course is always wet due to very poor drainage design. In fact, the driving range, which is one of the big reasons I joined, is closed as often as it is open. The wait staff, with only a few exceptions, is inattentive. My biggest disappointment was that management treated everyone as customers rather than "members." If you love golf, RR may not be the best choice. read more

My wife and I are those folks who never write a review. But this was such a great experience, and in unexpected ways, that I thought you should all know. We had a Bat Mitzvah reception for our daughter and booked the space several months in advance. In fact, we didn't plan on using River Run, but they were the only ones with the date open. So just luck I guess. However, this turned out to be the best choice we could have made. We spoke to many other providers trying to get a date, or figure out the cost and many were either wildly expensive or didn't have a date available. We looked from Charlotte through Troutman, NC. All up and down the I-77 corridor. In addition, we have very specific and unique requirements. Our son has severe food allergies, no dairy and no nuts.. which rules out lots of different foods, unless the provider is willing to figure it out with us. River Run was surprisingly flexible and creative with all of our requests. They would scratch their head and say ".. Of course, we can figure that out". We were skeptical. The main event was the food. We did not have entertainment or even music. This was primarily a luncheon to honor our daughter's accomplishment. The day before the reception, we wanted to add an arch of balloons, something to make it look even nicer. That same day, the coordinator called us and said ".. We can't do it but I found someone who can and they will have it setup in a couple of hours." They, incredibly, made this happen. Bottom line is that everyone at the reception thought the food was the best they ever had. Many of our guests, know their food. It looked incredible and tasted even better. Somehow, they figured out how to make amazing food with no dairy or nuts. Our son had no problem eating it. Apparently, some of the foods they provided were things they figured out how to do, especially the cupcakes. The point is they were willing, and the food was incredible. In fact, several of our guests, who had never considered River Run, were asking "How did you figure this out?" We were blown away and would go back in a minute, and especially for any further events we have. No reservation about that. read more

I would give this place zero stars if I could. My friend got married here and I was one of the brides maids. The events coordinator double booked the locker room where the brides maids were to get ready. So she came in and yelled at us to get out. It was a big party of brides maids asked to leave immediately while she was cursing at us under our breath. Then in the next room, she pulls out a trash can and says 'this is a trash can, do you know how to use it? Because obviously you don't!' Again, we were rushed out and yelled at. She never even introduced herself to us. As soon as we came in (my friend is black by the way) she started cursing under her breath. My friends family paid in advance for this space and the events coordinator did nothing but humiliate and dehumanize us. read more

We had a wedding on Saturday. The food was wonderful. They have new chefs. The buffet was wonderful as well as the wedding cake. The problem we experienced though was this: 1. The wedding coordinator had promised that the bride and her group would have lockers to lock away their personal possessions. That didn't happen. As a result $200 in cash that was going to be a gift was stolen.The grooms locker area was also checked as well when one of the groomsmen found his phone in the stall and not with his belongings. The F&B manager was consulted because the wedding coordinator went home early. The F&B mgr didn't care and informed my daughter who was matron of honor to call the cops because he refused to. My husband and I attempted to discuss the matter and the F& B manager automatically got defensive and stated we were accusing the staff of theft. We never said a word, but considering he automatically got defensive it made us wonder. Cops were summoned and he informs the F&B manager to look for an empty envelope. The manager was reluctant to do anything. He became belligerent and rude to us; although we were nothing but polite to him and his staff. The wedding coordinator promised we would have someone to drive our elderly guests (88, 89 and 92) to the area where the wedding will take place. No one was designated and the guests were escorted down the stairs cautiously with family members helping. We didn't some of the beer and wine requested. We were suppose to be there until 10:30 to 11:00 to dance and have a good time. The staff started to clean off the tables with the decorations at 9:30. The attitude we got from the staff was they were happy the event was over with and was rushing us out of there. Nobody asked if there was anything else they could do for us or offer us assistance. They just walked off to get their stuff done. The events coordinator is a nice guy but he is overwhelmed with his work. We attempted to contact him via email and phone calls. Most of the time neither was returned until days (and I mean days later when an answer was needed immediately). For example, my daughter who was the bride called and left several messages in order to set up a time with the pastry chef to make a decision on the flavor of her wedding cake. He never returned the call. She had to call the pastry chef herself and have a phone discussion with him. There was no tasting. The end result of the cake was a happy one. It was beautiful and it tasted delicious as well. There was suppose to be a send off with the sparklers. That never happened. Our event planner left early, no attempt to tell me he was leaving, no attempt to tell any of us what was going on. He just disappeared. Because of the theft, because of the rudeness of the F&B manager and the lethargic abilities of the event coordinator, my daughter feels that her wedding was ruined. I might add, the price we paid for the inclusive for alcohol, hor d'overs, a buffet, all the linens, chairs, tables, and staff was reasonable. But, the customer service attitude of some of the staff was considerable substandard. On Monday, I sent an email to the General Manager and explained to him in great detail as to had happened. He was a new general manager who had come on board. He was disappointed with his staff and management team as well as then just being told that the Tennis club there had been broken into the week before and the cash register had $350 stolen from it. The General Manager was very responsive to my email as well as personally (I insisted) calling my daughter to talk with her. She requested the club reimburse me for some of the money for services we didn't get. As of this writing he is suppose to look at the contract and suppose to call me to discuss further of the situation. It is a lovely venue and it is a nice reasonably price for a wedding for a group less than 100 people. As I said in the previous paragraph, the food is awesome. The chefs are top rated. read more

River Run Country Club goes through food and beverage directors perhaps once a month and it shows. From someone who owns a small business customer service is the most important part of your business. Because we have four children we generally just get take-out from the dining room. I don't know if we have ever had an order prepared correctly. The expediting portion of the dining room is horrendous. We have had portions of the order left out, prepared incorrectly and the managers have had to drive food to our house three times. Overall the food is overpriced, the orders are frequently wrong, tonight I waited 90 minutes for a take out order and to top it off, the manager argued with me(never argue with the person that pays your salary) Food and Beverage at River Run sucks. Big time. Never go there. read more

I was here for a business client lunch meeting and found everything to be very well organized. The event manager was easy to communicate with and made sure everything we needed was in place. The food and banquet servers were very pleasant and friendly. The space was clean and set up nicely, and there is a great deck view on the golfcourse. All of the workers were very helpful. Our event was successful and many of us agreed that we would come back to this venue! read more

We eat at River Run CC or have carry out dinner 2-3 times per week. I am a fan of our new Chef Xavier and love both the dinner specials and pub fare. The flexibility and courtesy of the staff makes dinner & takeout a very pleasant experience! read more

I've been a member at River Run CC in Davidson, NC for 10 years and I've found it to be great fun and a good value. Living in River Run and belonging to the River Run Club is like living at a great resort. The golf, tennis, swim, social and dining experiences are excellent! read more

I must say as a former member this place really stinks. You would think that a CC would serve at least bearable fare, but I would rather eat fast food than here. The word is the staff has struggled through the years and it shows. They have tried but it just is not up to the high dollar price it is due. read more

Our special day at River Run Country Club was absolutely perfect! We looked around at a lot of different venues around the Charlotte/Lake Norman area for a good few months before we found Chris Zoghby and River Run. Their prices are extremely competitive for the wedding market, especially considering we were on a relatively tight budget. Not only that, but the venue is absolutely beautiful! The ballroom was perfect, and they even have other beautiful rooms we used for our Rehearsal Dinner. The food for both the wedding and the rehearsal was fantastic, and exceeded our expectations. From the first meet we had with Chris, we knew we wanted to work closely with him and it was evident he was very knowledgeable in executing the perfect wedding at River Run. As we did not have a wedding planner, he was the ideal fit for our situation, as we could bounce ideas off him and he would give us insight into what would look amazing on the day. A lot of reviews we have read stated that Chris was hard to get a hold of. Looking back, sometimes it would be a few days before we would get an email/text back from Chris. However, after working with Chris for over a year, it was very evident that his workload was too much for a single person and not a fault of his own - definitely something River Run management needs to address. That being said, we always got our questions answered, and Chris would never make a promise if he couldn't deliver. And he delivered everything we wanted/needed! All of the River Run staff were extremely passionate about making sure our day ran smoothly and we are so happy we chose River Run. Oh and as a side note - the wedding cake by Chef Todd was absolutely amazing!! Thanks again for making our wedding day very special! read more

As we are currently planning for my daughter's upcoming wedding, it brought back memories of the disappointing, frustrating experience we had last year in hosting my son's Rehearsal Party at River Run. Throughout the process, communication was always a challenge. However, we had finally had a signed contract for the front room lounge. The affair was your traditional appetizers, buffet, and desert. The day before the event (Columbus Day weekend) we went through last minutes details, and everything was fine. The next day, my husband and I arrived early to check on flower arrangements, seating, etc. To our horror, the serving staff was setting up for a golfing event in "our" front room. No one was there to explain what/why was happening. Finally, I found the event manager who explained that we were moved to their back sports bar, the Zebra Lounge. I was rudely given 2 choices: have my party there or not. The bar was smal, dark, decorated with flat screen televisions, and snack dispensing machines. It was horrible. I was never given an apology, and the evening was ruined. When we received the bill, they changed the room location on it. in addition, the food and service was mediocre at best. BEWARE! read more

My wedding was at this venue. The food was good but that's it. The coordinator Chris was next to impossible to reach. Things were done last minute but not due to us. We never even got to do a cake tasting, we had to call the venue to get in touch with the pastry chef ourselves and just tell him what we wanted. We didn't get the beer and wine that we selected even though we paid for an open bar and we went straight off the list they gave us. Then it was in the contract that we would get lockers to put our stuff in which they never gave us even though people asked were to put our stuff. They said it would be fine, it wasn't. We were robbed. Cash was taken from a gift as well as out of a purse. They then played the blame game and took 0 responsibility for it and didn't question the staff or ask any questions that night so nothing was done until a couple days later when it was too late. The managers were extremely rude about everything. The even coordinator, Chris left after we told him about the robbery and this was 2 hours before the event was over. When we finally got in contact with someone higher up they did apologize and offered a small refund but it was a small amount compared to what was spent and also considering they were in breach of contract. The cop that showed up to take the report was way more helpful than any of the staff was. I pretty much feel like they only cared about getting paid, maybe it was because we aren't members but still horrible service considering the thousands of dollars you have to pay. read more
