Thanks to the friendly, skilled guides, this was an awesome experience for our family (including 2 kids under the age of 10). The guides worked well as a team and used humor to put folks at ease and make the whole adventure fun. All of the guides seemed to have struck up a great rapport with their groups, and we have to shout out Sammy for giving our family an excellent first time ride down the rapids. She won our kids over with her excellent "bad" jokes and her knowledge of the river. We highly recommend her (and you can even request her) if you have kids (of any age) who like to laugh. The river itself is beautiful and we had a great moment to hop out ,swim,and do some cannonballs off a rock midway through. I highly recommend this experience and these outfitters! read more

First timers- was a bit nervous but it turns out there was no reason for it. The rapids were class 3&4 and were very manageable if you listened to the guides. We had Sam and Kelly in our group as guides and they were very knowledgeable and capable and obviously know their stuff on the water. Sam was chill and so funny. Kelly was calm and answered so many questions from the teens in our group. We were on the water about two hours and it was a great day. read more

The water was great! Did a full day the first half was slow bit relaxing. Unfortunately, we had Joe - he was rude, impatient, not clear on instructions. Yelled at us and took some pictures for us and sent only half of them along with some on his photo! A flower, cactus and a paddle stick. ?? Which we're not our pictures. We were able to swim yet told to get back in within a minute and didn't help pull anyone in the raft when needed. If you're gonna go there, just don't have Joe.!! read more

This was amazing!!!! The location was great, the setup was super cool and the staff were great. The guides make a raft trip, and we were super lucky to get Kalea Alison, aka flower child. This was the first time rafting for our two kids- 8- 15. Kalea was great at communicating with the fan, keeping everyone out of the water and having a blast. I'm giving River Runners 5 stars for 2 reasons, the guide we had last year, Josh (who isn't there this season unfortunately) was phenomenal. Every guide should be like him. Outgoing and personable. Second reason is because today's trip was an absolute blast with how quick the water was running and the constant rapids. 10/10 recommended going in early/mid June. Lastly, this was our group of friends who went today. Some had been on the trip last year and others were experiencing the Arkansas for the first time. Wow! Where do I start? I booked my party of 5 reservation online for half day at. We were able to do next day appointments and instructions were e-mailed to me and gave me all the information I needed (What to bring, when to arrive, and exact location). My party arrived 45 minutes prior to our appointment (per email request) and got dressed. The only down side of or trip was it was cloudy and a bit cold, but River Runners was prepared with jackets! Wowza! Last summer my daughter & I rafted Brown's Canyon with Kyle & had a fabulous time. That trip was my daughter's 1st and she loved it so much I booked another trip for us... a lille more challenging with class 4's... down thr Royal Gorge. Since I had hurt my wrist, we opted for a "row assist" and that was a great help as we only had to paddle every once in a while.DEFINITELY would recommend this outfitter and KAI was a HOOT!!! Awesome experience! This company was phenomenal, they were so kind and funny! Dillon was a phenomenal guide with loads of experience. He let us get out and jump off some rocks along the way. He knew how to make us thrill seekers have a great time while still accommodating to our less than excited mother, who had a lot of nerves. Always felt safe and the views were absolutely unbeatable. We did the full day trip through the royal gorge. The lunch provided by the company was a nice assortment of deli meats and cheese for sandwiches, homemade cookies, chips and freshly sliced apples. Dillion was an excellent guide who was very friendly to our whole family. He asked us if we wanted to try some interesting approach and our family was up to the challenge. Imagine making plans to take your family from North Carolina, including teenagers 17 and 15, to Colorado for the first time over Labor Day Weekend -- during the COVID crisis. Of course, everyone is excited about seeing the Rockies and other sites, but the single biggest highlight and anticipation for everyone -- especially the kids -- is the white water rafting. These plans with River Runners were made weeks ago, received multiple reconfirmation communications and the excitement was building as we got closer. We made our way west to Colorado, spent a few day and could not wait for tomorrow, even receiving the "We Look Forward to seeing you tomorrow..." email from River Runners. Then, out of no where, we receive a call at 5p on Friday, before we were to enjoy our rafting on Saturday at 2p, telling us that we had been cancelled due to lack of guides. No other options, no explanation beyond this -- simply cancelled. It's 5pm and we can't even call to check around other places, not that they would have been available -- remember, Labor Day Weekend. Horrific customer service and would not recommend this company to anyone! Completely unreliable and not what you expect when it comes to customer service. Beyond disappointing...can you imagine the heartbreak of the kids? Really crappy River Runners... read more

We had a fantastic time with River Runners. Our trip guide Tara was great at our safety briefing and hilarious and informative as well. Our guide in our boat was Mel and she was fantastic. We took the half day Big Horn Canyon trip. She was great at giving encouraging coaching for our rafting ride as well as great information and lots of fun along the way. She and the other guides were also really focused on safety and we felt great about that. We will probably do a full day trip the next time we go or maybe just the Royal Gorge portion. We have rafted the full day at the Royal Gorge with River Runners at least three times. Every single experience has been fantastic. My husband and I consistently say how great the guides are after each experience. This year's experience was particularly important for me. On our most recent rafting trip on the Numbers, I almost drowned thanks to a careless guide (Dan). I've been rafting many times and our entire boat flipped on the trickiest rapid. They ended up having to throw several of us the bag rope and I drank most of the Arkansas river. So, when my husband convinced me to go back out on the water, I said I'd only do the Royal Gorge. Our guide Rafael (Rafa) was incredible. He was calm, confident, and gave great directions. We could not have asked for a better day on the water. This experience gave me the encouragement to keep going back out on the water. All of the guides are so experienced and also so much fun. Our guides were Rafael, Forrest, Dylan, and the guy who wore pink-I think his name was Marc maybe? Thanks Rafael and River Runners for such a great experience! We will be back soon! read more

We have visited the browns canyon river runners for the last few years, this year we decided on a change of scenery and booked the full day bighorn. While I wont say one was better than the other because both are awesome and unique in their own way I can tell you the highlights of this trip. One, price, you really get a great experience for what you pay. Two, lunch! They are really attentive to getting you a good meal halfway through, plus its made on the run so even more impressive. Three, quality equipment that doesnt make you look like you work for cdot, like another rafting company.......you know who you are. Four, and most important, the guide. Spending a day with someone can be awkward, especially when you need to trust them to get you safely down river. Our guide this year was fantastic and very technical with explaining our route through rapids. Never a moment did we feel unsafe. In fact we have decided to book a full day gorge trip with this guide for next year, and while I told our guide I wouldnt mention his name here because then everyone would want him and he may not be our guide next time I will go ahead and do so. He definetly fit in with our family and it was a nice experience without awkwardness at all. While it may have been his fun tennesee twang or the fact that his mom thinks he's special, you should for sure ask for K.P., this guy is awesome. YAY! read more

Amazing!! If you are looking for a white water rafting company, look no further. From start to finish, everything was easy and FUN!! Mikey was our guide and kept us entertained the whole time. My 8 and 11 year old loved it (and my 11 year old even fell in during a rapid). My husband quickly scooped her up while she laughed the entire time! My 8 year old sat directly behind me and did an excellent job rowing. When he got nervous, he would grab the center thand hold on. This past June saw my fourth rafting trip with River Runners through Bighorn Sheep Canyon. My guides over the years have all been different, but they have each been fun, knowledgeable about the area, and professional. Their half-day prices are comparable to other Colorado outfitters (pay extra for splash guards and water shoes). Our most recent guide, Tara, was super - she was obviously experienced, and her confidence helped boost mine. She didn't do anything crazy but still chose great lines through the rapids. It was an excellent time for newbies and veteran rafters alike! You see, this trip was especially meaningful. I had had a bad experience on a previous trip with a different company 4 years ago (organized by some coworkers), and I am not joking when I say I had PTSD afterwards. Therefore, when the in-laws decided on a rafting trip with the kids in early July, I decided it was time to face my fears. It was serendipitous that they chose River Runners, the company I've trusted over the years. My only complaint is that the women's restroom doesn't have enough amenities for the number of customers. It'd be nice if there were more benches, perhaps another toilet and sink, and one more privacy wall or curtain. Professional photos are uploaded to the TV pretty much immediately (no obligation to buy). Plenty of parking on the dirt lot, and their huge sign will ensure you won't miss the turn-off. If you want a fun ride through Bighorn Sheep Canyon, consider River Runners! read more

Our family did the big horn route and it was perfect of little ones. The service was great and all the guides were nice. If you are in Pueblo or Cañon City, definitely visit these guys. You'll have fun, I promise! Oh, and plan on spending extra on the pictures. They are a bit pricy, but when you see them you'll be excited about them. Great pics! Our First Rafting Experience!! Family of 4 - youngest 10. Rafted from Bighorn Sheep Canyon half day (approx 2 hr raft). Our guide was Patrick, who was AMAZING! He was so laid back, calm, and knowledgeable! We were told that we were hitting level 3 rapids. The river levels were still a little high.... We had an Absolute Blast! The river is COLD! I recommend the slicker jacket under your life vest unless it's 90+ and High Sunny Day! It was mid-high 80's and partly cloudy! I was chilled to the bone! I was however in the FRONT Left of the raft and caught every rapid in the face! I was the wettest of them all and laughing the entire way!! I did not use the rain/slicker jacket. I wish we had more time to do this AGAIN! River Runners is the Go To Rafting Company! read more
