    Aww, what's not to love!
    Mary Jo T.

We flew into Rapid City and drove about 45 miles to the Bavarian Inn. "Oh Bavarian Inn how do I love thee? Let me count the ways; - Three minutes from Crazyhorse Memorial - Five minutes from the town of Custer - Five minutes from Custer State Park - 15 minutes from Mount Rushmore - 30 minutes from ALPINE SLIDE AT RUSHMORE TRAMWAY ADVENTURES (Keystone) & Rush Mountain Adventure Park - FREE (you heard right) FREE Postcards! And I wrote BOATLOADS of them. . . Every. Day. I think they heaved a sigh of relief when we left! Lol! WHY? WHY, did I do THAT! Because I want everyone to know about this FABULOUS FAMILY AREA! THAT'S WHY! :) -The staff at the Bavarian Inn. The most accommodating, generous, CHEERFUL managers and staff EVER! That alone is worth five stars! It was the perfect home-base to branch out from, to everything else we wanted to do! We had a GREAT TIME!

This is my cat for no reason. I was in such a good mood I had to post it.

This place was so amazing . It had everything for kids and better yet, the best stay ever. They gave us breakfast and free cookies at night. The hotel service was so nice and they came to pick up our towels for us. They even had a pool with heating and a sauna. This was definitely the experience I was hoping for. Best hotel ever.

What a delight! I spotted this one via Yelp, and it lived up to all of the positive comments. We had an easy, friendly checkin with chocolate chip cookies and milk. They have many amenities including an indoor and outdoor pool, tennis court, laundry facilities and a restaurant for breakfast. Our room was one of the deluxe rooms, with a lovely balcony. We had a drink and snacks there in the evening as we discussed the next few days. The room was very clean, well maintained. Pleasant sleeping experience. We will stop in again when we visit again! Exceptional stay!!! Thank you, Bavarian Inn for making us feel comfortable and "at home"

Dirty and unsanitary! We were SO excited to stay here bc of the advertised ambiance and free laundry but were quickly and repeatedly disappointed. Our group checked into two rooms just before the office closed at 10. We brought our stuff upstairs, started unpacking and I found FINGERNAILS all over the vanity. Like a previous guest stood at the sink and clipped their nails. The office was closed so I had to clean up someone else's fingernails before using the vanity. I then climbed into bed only to feel granules in the sheets. We pulled the covers back and found dirt and hair inside the bed! It gets worse. The next morning I reported our experience to the front desk. They were apologetic and the attendant ordered a "deep clean and sanitize" service for our room. She said the owner would double check our room was clean afterwards so we left for the day feeling better. BUT, when we got back, I went to take a shower and there were curly hairs and melted soap stuck to the floor of the tub and a lost fingernail behind the faucet. We checked the bathroom of our second room and it also had hair in the tub, but none of us had used it. AGAIN we alerted the front desk. They offered to send someone to clean right then, which we accepted. The cleaner did not wear a mask in our rooms and when they finished re-re-cleaning my bathroom there was STILL hair in the tub. While discussing how unacceptable the conditions of our stay were with the evening attendant (Dana) I let them know 1 out of the 4 in-room provided coffee to-go cups was individually wrapped. The other 3 were totally unwrapped. The Dana said "that's how they came," but had no reply when I pointed out how inconsistent and unsanitary that was. Instead of a reduced rate for us having to clean hair and fingernails of previous guests Dana offered us milk and cookies. I kind of laughed, but she was serious. We declined. If *this* is how the Bavarian Inn cleans where people can see how gross is it behind the scenes? We declined (this is one of their add-on services for $9). I wish we could have moved to another hotel, but none could accommodate our group for the number of days we intended to stay on such short notice. I asked another guest about the condition of their room and we both agreed = this place is not very clean, but cute. It's like a hunting lodge you pay a lot of money for but have to bring your own sheets and clean before you use everything. With a "beautiful view" of the the side of a highway.

Highly recommend this place as a place to stay if you visit the black hills. Super great rooms with cozy beds. Played some basketball and pickle ball which was a lot of fun and enjoyed some time in the hammocks too. Enjoyed a night on the patio with a fire and they bought us home made cookies. Such a wonderful experience and I would love to come stay here again!

The room was cute and clean. The front desk girl needs a lot more training. It wasn't very quiet. It's ok for one night.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the hotel is conveniently located near many of Custer's restaurants, shops, and local attractions. It made a great home base for exploring places like Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, and the surrounding Black Hills. Overall, this isn't a luxury hotel, but it offers good value for the price. If you're looking for a clean, comfortable place to stay in a convenient location, this hotel gets the job done and is a solid option for visiting the area.

One of the best parts is the location -- only about 30 minutes from Mount Rushmore, which made it easy to explore the area without a long drive. The hotel had a few nice touches we appreciated, especially the outdoor patio and the clean-looking pool and jacuzzi area. Breakfast was decent as well and worked perfectly before heading back on the road. The biggest downside is that some parts of the property feel dated. The carpet in the hallways and elevator areas is pretty worn out and could really use replacing because it affects the overall impression of the hotel. We also had an issue with the refrigerator in room 308 constantly making noise through the night, which wasn't ideal for sleeping. Still, the room itself was comfortable enough, and considering the location and price, it's a solid option for a short stay -- just with a few overdue updates needed.

I specifically reserved and confirmed a ground-floor ADA-accessible room with two beds because both my father and I are unable to carry luggage upstairs. On the day of arrival, after spending over an hour being bounced between the hotel and corporate customer service, I was informed that our reserved room had been given away. We were told our only option was an upstairs room requiring stairs, and that no refund would be provided. When we arrived, there were numerous unassigned rooms still available. The sole employee on duty insisted there were no remaining ground-floor rooms with two beds. However, another party in our group checked in after us and was immediately assigned exactly that type of room. Thankfully they switched rooms with us, though even that was met with resistance and attitude from the front desk. What bothered me most was not the mistake itself, but the complete lack of accountability, empathy, or apology. The only explanation offered was that the employee was "new." Accessibility accommodations are not optional conveniences--they are necessities for many travelers. After this experience, I no longer feel confident that Best Western Buffalo Ridge Inn takes the needs of guests with disabilities seriously. Unfortunately, after years of loyalty to the Best Western brand, I will be looking elsewhere for future stays.

The parking lot does fill up but we were able to find a spot close to our ground floor room. The room had a comfortable king size bed, a large flat screen TV with cable service and a wall mounted AC in the back above the sink. The AC was noisy but in a good way to drown out any outside noise. We enjoyed a good night's rest here. Our only complaint was the small number of towels in the room. I'm sure we could have asked for and received more but we didn't.

Having previously stayed at The Bavarian Inn just up the road, we reached out to discover that they, among others, were closed. This location features four private units with ensuite bathrooms and a common courtyard. Parking is curbside and you're just one block off the main strip, making the location very walkable. The units themselves are wonderful. Nicely furnished with very comfortable beds; a kitchette with everything you need including a toaster; a bathroom with an incredible steam shower, dimmable lighting in all areas and artwork that creates a wonderful, peaceful atmosphere. We drive an electric car and found convenient free charging available at the local Chamber of Commerce just two blocks away. We had dinner on The Custer Wolf's patio and enjoyed our first restaurant meal in months. Thanks EO Bungalows! We'll be back... looking forward to the next Tesla rally, whenever that is.

There were a few issues...but they were manageable since I wasn't staying in the room alone. Trouble 1) When showering, you can't reach the shower controls while sitting on the shower bench. I keep seeing this in hotels, I'm not sure what they expect you to do. Most people who need a shower bench can't stand up and get the controls! Trouble 2) Tiny little closet rod, difficult to get to behind the table & chairs (and the bathroom door). It's low, to make it an accessible height, but so difficult to reach that it was almost not worth even trying! Trouble 3) Table and chairs in the room would be nice if we were cooking in our room & such, but since we weren't they were really just in the way. The table was too small to pull under when in a wheelchair anyway. Their location meant that I couldn't reach the kitchenette area anyway. If I'd been staying alone I'm not sure how I would have handled the shower, and I would have requested that staff remove the table & chairs. Just thought I'd warn other wheelchair users so they can make an informed decision. The bed was adequately comfortable, water pressure was great, the room a little noisy due to the proximity of the ice-room & the parking lot. Overall - could have been better, but could have been much worse - at least i was able to get in and out! :)
