This is a privately owned business & biz hours do seem to be somewhat flexible & did sometimes fluctuate slightly, so I probably would not recommend visiting early (as in right at opening time) or at the end of the day, which is often when I could get by to drop off & pick up items. I once had to leave empty handed, returning after I called to be sure they'd be there. Additionally, note I only ordered replacement components for existing chairs I own, high density foam (replacement) cushions, to be specific & everything turned out fine. It is a full service upholstery shop & I believe they specialize (primarily) in boat / marine cushions, bc they are located near Lake Lanier. They DO offer reupholstery sample "swatches," as in small books of fabrics that you can view in different color ways, but they do not have full bolts of fabric so that you can view fabrics on a larger scale, w/ the possibility of envisioning said fabric on your own completed project which would, most likely, be on a much larger scale & / or your own completed piece. That said, I did inquire & they will work with COM (customers own material) should you choose that route. One final note, my final price was slightly higher than the quote I obtained originally & that could have been due to the quality of foam I received; I'm not sure actually since I did not inquire bc the difference was minimal. Having worked formerly at Calico Corner (custom new furniture, draperies, bedding & accessories) and for a licensed Interior Design firm, I do know that higher density foam does, indeed, cost more. Had a large three piece leather sectional in really bad shape. These guys did an incredible job returning a 20 year old couch to its like-new glory! We could not find a replacement couch of the same quality and right size, so this option worked out perfect. I highly recommend!! read more

DO NOT USE HIM! Brought our couch cushions to get new foam. Went to pick them up and 2 cushions were damaged., 1 was severely damaged. He says that it did not happen at his store. My wife took pictures of the couch before we took the cushions to him and he still refuses to accept responsibility even after seeing the photos. He says the damage did not happen at his shop. I would never bring cushions to get new foam if the were damaged. I would never recommend him to anyone. read more

We have used Rivera's previously with satisfactory results on upholstery work on our Motorhome but it appears he is not able to take on work that he promised in a timely manner. In January we sent him $500 to purchase additional upholstery for our motorhome. He promised that when we returned from our vacation in March he would complete the work. During the second week of March we called to have him do the installation. We called numerous times and even visited him at his shop. Each time we got the same answer which was he would pull out the seats as soon as he could. In our last two visits he even promised he could get to it the next day( that was two days in a row)but to no avail. To his credit he has returned the funds but we now have to find another shop. I took a recliner here to be upholstered. The replacement padding on the two arms didn't match. one was thicker and more rounded than the other. Plus, the recliner reeked of cigarette smoke when I picked it up. I had to leave it on my screened porch for a couple days to air out. read more

It's been a while since I last had Mike and Bonnie Rivera do any work for me, mainly because I had moved away from the area. Previously, they had reupholstered two wing chairs and a sofa for me. Next, I had them upholster the complete interior of my 1955 Chevy Bel Air show car, which was awarded Best Interior in Show by Chip Foose at an All Makes and Years national car show held at Year One in Braselton. Year One went on to feature my car and interior in their next Tri-Five Chevy parts catalog. 3 years ago, they removed the old carpet and replaced it with new on a 22' pontoon boat, and recovered some of the vinyl in the seating area. I recently had them put new pads and sun resistant vinyl on a Thonet bent wood leisure chair I'm very fond of. They expertly steamed and shaped every item to get a flawless late 1940's vibe. Very nice people. Also, very busy people, so call in advance before you haul your boat over to their shop. read more

I would never recommend or use them again. I'm just glad I am only out $75 for covering a booster cushion for my pontoon boat. I supplied the foam all they had to do was cover it. Husband picked dark gray, got a light gray covering. It has a BROWN ZIPPER in a gray cushion. Back of cushion by zipper has small cut in the material and stitching is so crooked. Called and Mike and brother very rude. Said they used remnants to cover and if i wanted dark gray they would order it and I could pay another $75. They will resew what I have to correct the stiching. At this point I will cut my losses and keep it. It's boating season and I need the booster cushion, I am afraid it might not be ready for weeks as payback. read more

They are very expensive and the quality of work is lacking. I sent in a very expensive damask fabric. At first glance it looks lovely, but it doesn't line up and for $300, I'd expect better. I won't use them again. read more

I don't know how I can rate this business when they broke three appointments and then never called at all. This went on for three weeks. My job is a small job, he should have told me up front that he is not interested in small jobs. The third time he called to cancel an appointment was Friday Aug.14, he said that he was taking the wife & daughter to Orlando and He would be picking up my bench Monday Aug. 24. I asked him if I could trust him since he canceled three times and he assured me that I could trust him. Monday, Aug. 24th came & went and he was a no show again. It is now the afternoon of Tuesday, Aug 25th, I called Mike and he had nothing to say for himself. I told him that someday he'll wish he had my little job because you can't be so irresponsible and stay in business, no matter how good you are. In my day a person's word meant something. Rivera's Upholstery and Jason Taylor Moving are both responsible are the issue we've been having!! We contracted the Jason Taylor Moving Inc. and everything was fine until they started moving out furniture into out new house on May 30, 2014. The coffee table glass was broken, one leg of the coffee table had a chunk missing from the wood, a mirror was broken, my mahogany bar had damage to the wood, the dining room table had gouges in the wood that are not repairable and the biggest thing of all is the largest piece of our sectional sofa looks like a tree fell on it, the back was broken and the wood frame splintered. We bought the "full coverage" insurance and have been going through the claims process for over a two and a half months. The sectional piece was "repaired" but we refused it the first time because the wood was not repaired, it was pushed back together then reinforced on the back side with particle board and painted over. You could see light through it! We demanded they take it back which they did and I've been in a heated email exchange over the "repairs" with Jason Taylor the owner. He said they'd make it right and waive our deductible. I have asked repeatedly for the sectional to be replaced because of the extent of the damage and the poor repairs, he refused and attempted to repair it again. And at first he agreed to write out a warranty for the repairs but then changed his mind, although I have every email correspondence from him and what he had promised to do. I have asked repeatedly for the sectional to be replaced, having their "full coverage for replacement" insurance clearly wasn't worth the extra money I paid for it. On July 18,2014 they bought the sectional to the house with strict instructions per Jason to leave it at our residence even though the wood absolutely DOES NOT match the rest of the wood on the sectional and we tried to refuse taking it. His crew signed off that the wood does not match but refused to do anything further. Additionally the fabric on the "repaired" sectional does not line up properly at the seams on the arm near repaired area. I have emailed Jason Taylor about this and there has been no reply. It took several calls to Rivera's Upholstery, that's the company that Jason Taylor sent my sectional to for the repair of the damage to the back, not the wood, I spoke to Mike Rivera who said they only re-stretched it after they repaired the back. I explained that the fabric does not line up correctly. I told him that I couldn't get a reply from Jason Taylor and I'd like him to make it right. I asked him to come to my home to look at it but he said to text him the photos instead and gave me his cell phone number. That was over two weeks ago. There has been no reply what so ever. I cannot get an answer on that cell number, only voice mail. No one answers the phone at Rivera's Upholstery, you always get the answering machine. Now it seems Jason Taylor and Rivera's are completely ignoring me. I'm at my wits end with Jason Taylor Moving and Rivera's Upholstery. I definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND this moving company nor so I recommend Rivera's Upholstery in Cumming, Ga. read more
