Brought in a chair to be reupholstered and was given a date 2 weeks later. Came to pick it up that day and it was not ready. The owner Michael did NOT apologize but said it would be ready a week later. After calling several times and getting a recording, we went by to pick it up and it was still not ready. They had trouble finding my chair. Michael was EXTREMELY RUDE and did not apologize. He said he had one person out sick. Why not call me? He said another week. I said "Forget it and give me my chair back." They could not find it. Finally someone found it. My husband said this is no way to do business. Michael said "take the chair and NO MORE TALKING!" Still no apology and we will never return. I do not see HOW THIS PLACE stays in business...he is a total jerk and this is NOT a budget place...we did not think it was "budget" price at all. Plus he charges 3% to take a credit card. He should pay customers to put up with his rudeness. Also his fabrics in the store have to be at least 20 years old. Don't patronize him! read more

Had a horrible experience working with this company. Their communication style is very unprofessional, the owner (Michael) acts too busy to answer any follow up questions or give you a level of customer service that's expected from a vendor; I simply asked for a formal written up quote for a project and he refused to send me a formal quote that my client could read. When I let him know I didn't appreciate the level of customer support up until that point, he simply said I don't have time to work with someone like you and hung up the phone. We have used Budget three times over twenty years to reupholster several large projects, and we have been extremely pleased with their workmanship every time - otherwise we wouldn't continue to return to them. Yes, the communication is a little difficult - I think only one person speaks English - and once we had to wait about a week longer than promised for the finished work. But the craftsmanship is well worth the wait. They have recovered a 7-piece 'conversational' sectional twice, 12 years apart, and also a 4-piece sofa, loveseat, chair and ottoman. Two of the three projects used a patterned fabric - Budget matched the seams/cushions/arms perfectly. We've never had a problem with payment or prices. I also like it that, although you can bring your own fabric, they also have a huge selection onsite to make the project a one-stopper. They have definitely earned a five-star on my scale. read more

I brought my furniture in 12 weeks ago and was told by Michael who works there that it would be completed in 2 weeks. it has now been 12 weeks. Every week he tells me it will be done the next week. When I follow-up he says it will be the next week. Michael will not be honest with me. Any suggestions on next steps? My friend works for a law office and I have contacted her for advice. My own father even got involved and talked to Michael and he gave my Father a date he would have it done and it is still not done. I ordered fabric from Budget (Kauffman fabrics)-Kauffman had listed fabrics in wrong order, so wrong fabric was sent (but wasn't caught until after upholstery was done-by different upholsterer). Kauffman is replacing fabric, but Budget will not take responsibility for reupholstering - Kauffman says it was their responsibility to check to make sure correct fabric. Reason different upholsterer used is because cost was significantly higher than Budget's and I had had trouble before with them losing a cushion I brought in for upholstery. Fabric was wrapped tightly so there was no reason my husband, who picked up the fabric, would have reason to check. read more

Ok I was reserved in the beginning about the affordable pricing but in the end it turned out to be a 100% quality upholstery job. I'm very pleased with the job and giving new life to a great chair. They came within 48 hours, called before they left and arrived exactly when they said they would. I recently used them to upholster a sofa and chair. It was a terrible experience. Not only did they not make the items per the order form, they incorrectly sewed the covers. They start talking over you when they make a mistake and start quoting what is on the order form. Their "reasonable price" became expensive just to get the items fixed. They also had promised something and then wanted to charge me for them when they forgot. I used them about ten years ago and had a bad experience. They got really angry with me when I refused to pay 30% more than the quoted job. You have been warned. read more

10/2013 I had them provide a foam and wrap cushion for an expensive custom made bench seat cover and they have lost the seat cover. After multiple calls and stopping by their location, they all seem very patient and not worried about finding my piece. However, they keep asking me if I have additional material and/or to send a picture of what the cushion looked like. Thank goodness I have a drop off receipt to prove they had my piece on 9/27/2013, over a month ago and promised to have it done (a "simple job" they said) within one week. I am crossing my fingers they locate my cushion cover, but it is not looking hopeful. If you have been to their location you can see how they loose items, stuff is everywhere. read more

I don't know where to begin with this establishment. They came recommended from a friend. First, they lost the pillows that accompanied the chair and ottoman I sent in to have recovered. Then they lost the chair and ottoman. Next, after they told me they had found my chair and ottoman, the recovered and brought back to my house. 2 months later they called me frantically saying that chair and ottoman did not belong to me and had to be returned. I obliged. They told me they would have my stuff to me in no less that a week. Still no pillows. Well, here we are, 5 months after the initial pick up and my stuff is "allegedly" complete. I receive a phone call telling me that I need a certified check to pay for my furniture, to which I respond, "How much of a discount are you planning on giving me?" I mentioned that I would be glad to pay for the materials, but that I should not have to pay for labor, due to the massive delays and essential breach of contract. To which the manager responded, "then you wont get your furniture". I have threated legal action, will definitely make a phone to the Better Business Bureau and perhaps the Dunwoody Police...maybe even immigration and customs if I don't get a discounted quote in a timely manner. Oh and they told me they haven't lost anything in 10 years, but by the looks of the other post here, that is a lie. *UPDATE* The original estimate was $800. I told Michael I wanted a discount due to the mess he created for me. Now he is holding my furniture ransom for $1300. I just went and bought brand new stuff from Pottery Barn and am in the midst of a Small Claims Lawsuit. I understand that customer service has all but disappeared in the US, but this was above and beyond anything I have experienced in my life. Scumbags. read more
