Just relocated to the area and we were nervous about finding a vet for our dog and cat. Particularly our dog who has chronic seizures and allergies. We cannot say enough wonderful things about this entire clinic. They were prompt, thorough and extremely knowledgeable. We've never had a more knowledgeable tech (Rosie). The vet, Dr Billy brought up issues he felt in our dog (luxating patella) that she had years back and we didn't think she was having any issues with. He spoke about preventative care and was incredibly knowledgeable. They spent a full hour with us going over her whole history, documenting her microchip, and treatment planning for her. Our dog also can be quite a nervous nelly and usually is muzzled when getting examined. He and the tech (Rosie) weren't phased, and were super caring while keeping her safe. I started taking my frenchie ( JUNO ) to riverbank approximately 2 years ago. We have seen both vets and they are both relatable and knowledgeable. I expect nothing but the best care for her and that's exactly what you get at riverbank. I recently went out of town and had Juno with me and of course she started having a few issues and I did not feel comfortable taking her to an out of state vet that had no history of Juno ( of course unless it was a dire emergency). I was able to email Dr. Bredenberg a few pics of the area of concern and a video. She called me back and called in some meds for Juno at a pharmacy in Tn. Juno got instant relief and I was able to have fun with my mom and son In TN without constantly worrying about Juno. Since then I adopted another pup ( Luna Blue ) and she started going to riverbank also and they took LOTS OF TIME WITH ME ON HER FIRST VISIT because Luna came from a dirty , disgusting environment. My mom will be adopting a puppy soon and she will be seeing Dr. Bredenberg because she sees how down to earth she is and very knowledgeable. We have been seeing Dr. Billy at Riverbank Veterinary Clinic since we moved to Johns Island 3 years ago. I have nothing but great things to say about this facility and staff as a whole, as well as Dr. Billy himself. Our dog (Spence) is very nervous/skiddish around people he's not around regularly, but Dr. Billy has a very calming demeanor. Spence has had one teary eye from the time we rescued him as a puppy. Previous vets gave us all sorts of explanations for it, ranging from it being allergies (yes, in one eye...all the time...) to it being a cosmetic birth defect that would require a 10k surgery to fix. The only constant was us being told that it was not having a negative impact on him as long as we wiped up his tears and watched for infections, so we were not overly concerned with a proper diagnosis. At our very first appointment with Dr. Billy, he performed a fluorescein stain on Spence's eye and was able to determine that he had lacrimal duct atresia, meaning that his tear duct had not formed properly on that eye so his tears were unable to drain out his nose. Him performing that test and accurately diagnosing Spence's eye problem on our first visit after 8 years of other vets getting it wrong ensured me that we had chosen the right vet. I have remained happy and impressed with Riverbank Vet and absolutely recommend them to anyone!! read more

I went to Riverbank Vet Clinic after a referral from a friend for a yearly check up with my two dogs. I was excited to try a new vet. The front desk staff and vet tech were all very nice, easy to work with, and quickly got us in for the first appointment. As the other reviewer stated, very clean offices and great space. However, the reason I am giving a 1 star review is the vet. We saw Dr. Bredenberg. She was extremely condescending and rude. We have never been treated so poorly. This is the best Vet clinic we have ever been to. It is clean, bright, and spacious, the people are nice and they treat everyone like family. The techs and the vets are very knowledgeable and clearly love what they do. We needed to move up our kitten's spaying because she went into heat and they were able to accommodate us the next day. They taught our son how to give a medication for one of our cats so that he could be responsible for it when my husband and I went out of town. There is nothing I don't like about this clinic! Riverbank is hands down the best vet in Charleston!! I worked in the industry for years, so I'd say I have pretty high standards, and I've never been disappointed. The clinic is clean, the staff are all friendly and knowledgeable. They genuinely care about their customers and patients... just recently my dog cut her paw pad, and even though they were fully booked, they worked me in right away. Any other clinic would have told us to go to the emergency clinic. Most importantly, I've never felt pressured to buy products or services my pet doesn't need, which I can't say about a lot of clinic's I've gone to. We started seeing Drs. Roumillat and Bredenburg, at the recommendation of our dog sitter, about 5 years ago. They are incredible! Their whole staff is warm and friendly. Our dogs are now older goldens and Dr. Roumillat and Dr. Bredenburg have treated them so well. Last spring our older golden was having several health problems and we were afraid he was at the end of his life. Dr. Roumillat recommended some inexpensive testing and we learned he had pancreatitis, low thyroid and arthritis. At his advice, we changed his dog food, started on thyroid meds and also an incredible skin allergy med. Our old dog has never looked better and he goes up down stairs and for walks! I highly recommend Riverbank Vet. They truly care about your pets and are great at diagnosing any problems. And they are nice people! read more
