Both my stray cat and I had our first ever (fantastic) veterinarian appointment at CHS Harbor yesterday. My fiance and I are both students, so cost and transparency was certainly important to us in choosing a vet. However, I was also looking for a empathetic stress free environment for both my stray cat and myself, as I had never owned a cat before. From the initial form, allowing me to outline our story in advance, our appointment felt so individualized. Sarah R. , our fantastic Vet Tech, had read our case and was called in specially to see Princess because of her experience with strays. She was calm and effective, and I was shocked to see her petting Princess less than 30 seconds after opening her carrier (I had not yet attempted this). She was personable, telling us about her own fur babies, but I also felt she was very thorough in collecting history and let me ask lots of questions. In addition to Sarah's excellence, Dr. Morgan Mcpheeter was calm, efficient, and knowledgeable. I am not a "review" person but for the person out there wondering if they should invest in a Vet Relationship instead of a neuter/spay service, I think Charleston Harbor is everything they've advertised and more (rare in Chs). read more

My cat Onyx and I had a lovely first visit with the CHV team. It was incredibly rainy and flooding when we came, and they were sweet enough to let me sit in a room way ahead of our visit time so that Onyx could get settled! They were so kind, and I loved their medical approach/preventative measures. I am super happy I chose to switch over, since it's much closer to my new apartment. Dr Kahuda and her assistants are just wonderful. We rushed our sweet 16 year old cat over and with a lot of compassion and love they rushed to find out what was wrong. unfortunately he was too sick to recover so we had to say goodbye to our beloved companion. They explained the end of life procedure and gave us plenty of time to hold him and talk to him, and then let us stay a little longer afterward to grieve even though the office was already closed. I take my bosses dogs here for their yearly vet visits and any emergency appointments and I could not recommend CHV enough. All the staff members have been truly amazing, caring and very knowledgeable. This past week my cat was scheduled for an early morning surgery. I could not for the life of me find her in my apartment. I thought she'd figured out where she was about to go and was hiding, having visited the vet the previous 2 days and her carrier being left out to ease her in it at 7am. So I called Charleston Harbor Veterinarians at 8am saying that I could not find her. They said to keep looking for another hour or so and if I was not successful to call them back, which I did right before 10am, saying I still could not find her. They asked me if I'd like to have a couple of their techs come to my home (since I live sort of close by) and help me find her! I couldn't believe how nice and kind they were being. They said they'd be by in a short while. Then, of course, lo' and behold, my cat comes out of a closet (that she's never in the morning), yawning and stretching as if it's just another regular day. I called Charleston Harbor Veterinarians back. It's now about 11am. The receptionist tells me they were just going out the door at that moment to help me. Adding now, with that not being necessary to bring her up right away, which I did. So I guess she went into surgery shortly after 11:30am. I received a call back around 12:30 saying Dr.McCaskill had completed the procedure and it all went fine, telling me I could get her at 1:30, which I did. I am very selective about what vet my dog goes to. I had called around to about ten different vets when I moved to the area. Charleston Harbor Vet was extremely helpful and answered all of my questions. Most importantly they do not make you wait in the vehicle for your pet due to COVID. Dr. Kahuda is amazing, you can tell she is not in the field for money but her love for animals. She gives options for your needs while thinking of your budget. Based SOLEY on all of the wonderful reviews, I decided to book him an appointment with Charleston Harbor! Let's just say, said reviews did NOT let me down! From the moment I called to make our first appointment I felt welcomed! If you take the time to read through all of the WONDERFUL reviews, as I did, I am most certain you will be placing a 5 star review yourself! I don't trust just anyone when it comes to the care and well being of my precious little fur baby! He has been my little buddy since he was 7 weeks old and he will be turning 16 in 5 days! If anything, I am more cautious now that he is a "senior" doggie than when he was just a little itty bitty baby! Dr. Kahuda and her staff did not disappoint! They were kind, caring, friendly, professional and we are looking forward to our next visit in February! I recently moved from the west coast and needed a new vet for my cat's regular checkups. After reading through the reviews of several places online I decided to try CHV. I used their online portal to enter my pet's information and selected a potential appointment date. Super easy! (Pro Tip: The appointment dates on their site are reviewed before confirmation and will only be confirmed if there isn't a prior appointment booked so wait for a follow-up email/call). Upon arrival, the staff was friendly and quick! I had less than a 5 minute wait between walk-in to seeing the vet. At the end of the visit, they escorted us to a back exit which is used to decrease the cross traffic of incoming and outgoing pets so the animals have fewer potential of encountering a traumatic cross species interaction. To top it all off, a few months later, a hand written card arrives in the mail welcoming me to the practice. read more

After many years and many different veterinarians, hands-down Dr Kahuda and her staff are the best! The office itself is warm and inviting. Exam rooms don't have the standard stainless steel exam table, instead Dr Kahuda gets down on the floor and sits with your pet for a stress free examination. But what really sets this office apart from others is the heartfelt interest they take in your pet. This was the best vet experience I have ever had. The staff has clearly put a lot of thought and effort into minimizing stress to patients. As such, the exam rooms are designed to look like rooms in a house, and the nurse accepts payment in the room so that you don't have to pay on your way out when your pet is already anxious to leave. The vet and nurses were knowledgeable and professional, they were timely and efficient, but didn't rush us.
