Here is why I rate it 5 stars. (1) HISTORY OF GOOD SERVICE. Based on a good experience at this very store about 3 years ago (and yes that plant is still alive & thriving, even with my poor skills) I returned on Saturday. (2) IMMEDIATE HELP FROM AN ENTHUSIASTIC CREW I went to this Mahoney's with a friend who is excellent with plants, and we walked through the entire enormous greenhouse/garden center to identify what plants I liked, and what we thought may be a fit in terms of size, care, access to light, price, etc. Once we had our "list" I asked for assistance. First, there was a SUPER FRIENDLY young man, (Logan I believe?) and he IMMEDIATELY was incredibly enthusiastic about plants. With an encouraging tone, he personally guided us through the store and show us his favorites and why he thought I could manage them. As our conversation deepened, he immediately connected me with gardeners there who could better help. Mahoney's is incredibly lucky to have such a welcoming employee as this one. (3) EXCEPTIONAL ADVICE FROM NATALIA. We were BLOWN AWAY by the energy, knowledge, competence, patience, and follow-through from NATALIA in the Mahoney's in Concord. She was down to earth, did not rush us, and personally walked us through the store as well. She listened to my needs, looked at a few photos of my room/space and provided creative solutions and helped steer me away from plants that she thought would not thrive in my space, while directing me to others that she felt convinced would look great. I am not kidding. I bought 6 plants, and my friend who was NOT planning to buy a plant, bought one too. That's how awesome Natalia is. I am impressed with her follow-through, personalized service and advice. Natalia was SO AWESOME I had to stop what I was doing to write this review. Polymeric sand swept into place (2). But Jon worked so patiently. Carefully making multiple runs with the machine over all 400 square feet of patio. Settling the sand fully into the grooves. No shortcuts. No chipping ofna single paver. Yet everything was compacted tightly. I just have to add an "after" pic showing the results. What a class act of professionalism all around. Not something you always get -- made us feel we lucked out finding this business. Thanks for taking pride in your workmanship!

I highly recommend Lombardo Loam and Gravel after using them a year ago for my driveway expansion…read moreproject. It still looks great today, which reminded me to do this review, I'm so happy with the result and the experience with all the Lombardo staff. I wanted to match some stones they didn't have but Lombardo found them for me without any delay. In total I needed three deliveries and the first was made by the owner himself to check out what I was doing and assess the rest of the deliveries. The location is difficult with phone and power lines traversing from the street to my house directly above where I needed the next 16 ton delivery. Lombardo made it happen. The experience could not have been better from the first phone call with Emily to the final delivery. Emily was a pleasure to work with and made the entire experience stress free including coordinating deliveries exactly as I wanted them while keeping in touch along the way. The drivers were professional, friendly and well experienced, having no difficulty navigating the challenging area with ease and dropping everything exactly where I wanted it. It was all just perfect.

They were helpful and speedy in terms of delivery. However, I am really not happy with the pricing. I felt like I had a clear understanding after two phone calls of the expected cost, so when I was charged almost DOUBLE that, I cannot say I was very pleased. I understand being under the minimum and expected fees, but not double. It's really unfortunate, but I probably would not use them again. Would I recommend? Maybe, but unless you're ordering 12 tons, it might make sense to go elsewhere for smaller residential needs.
