The campground is very loud from the train blasting its' horn through the night and highway noise. The bathrooms were clean and service to the campsite was good. I would not recommend their mozzarella sticks. The store was beyond overpriced ($4.99 for marshmallows that are so old you can tell through the bag that they are stale), and the staff was not very friendly compared to other KOA's and they were especially not helpful. (When I asked for recommendations of places to go for hikes/walks in nature nearby I was told to Google it.) If you want to have a camping experience in nature, you will be disappointed in this campground. If you want a cheap alternative place to sleep when you are visiting South Bend, maybe you will be satisfied. But please note that they felt it necessary to implement a key card system to even get into the campground. So I wouldn't feel comfortable tent camping here. (Someone with mal intent could just drive up to the campground and then get out of their car and walk into the campground. ) read more

First time at this campground and we are so disappointed. We didn't know that everything (including the outdoor playground) was closed. The lady at the front desk was incredibly rude. We had planned to stay for 5 days, but after encountering the rude staff, the dirtiest pool we have ever seen and basically nothing being open, we left the next day. Do not recommend! read more

Basically KOA offers campsites for people that don't like camping. I was in one of a handful of tents pitched there over Memorial Day weekend. The vast majority of people here arrive in large RV's and many leave the generators/engines running all night. The amenities for kids are great, there's even a petting zoo! Opinions of KOA campsites are very subjective, if you want minimalistic camping without RV's cluttering up the view, try elsewhere. If you want "to camp without camping" KOA is a fair bet. I'll personally be staying away from KOA in the future (have already done so and ended up in some incredible independently run campsites) read more

Everyone at the campground was very nice and the campground itself was nice, even for being opening weekend. This place is NOISY though, the train is very close and runs sometimes every 15 min and blows the horn. Also the brewery next door was having loud live music until 10pm....quiet hours start at 10 so it was ok but my kid goes to sleep at 8 so it was a little rough :). This isn't one of the prettiest, scenic, or private koa's that we've stayed at but it was great for what we needed, which was just a fun quick camping trip with the kids. There is a large pool (stated as heated but with what? The sun? That water is cold but still enjoyable), ice cream bar (limited open hours), movies in the pavilion, hay tides, a small arcade, the best kids park we've seen at a campground, mini golf, petting zoo, and dog run. We were tent camping and unless you're in the tent village the tent sites are horrible. Our tent was too large and couldn't fit in a standard lot so we were kindly upgraded to a tent village site. We enjoyed it a lot. The showers are strangely placed, in a hallway, not private, next to the store. There's no men/women distinction for the showers and I didn't like that....at all. Staff was friendly and we had a good time. I'm pretty sure we will visit again, although there are other koa's in the general vicinity that are much better. If you have small kids though, this is a great stay. read more

We got into town late and without a reservation. Further, we were 36' with a trailer. We were met by Tomas and he was very helpful in checking us in and assisting us in finding the space in the dark. Further, he recommended a little restaurant around the corner for breakfast. It was excellent! We didn't spend much time at the campground but it was clean and in the trees. Great campground for an "in town" location. The spaces are a little tight for a 40-ft. motor home, but not impossible. Owners Patricia and Thomas are terrific! We wanted to extend our stay by three days and even though they were fully booked, Thomas made some phone calls and found somebody who was willing to take a 30-amp site, letting us stay in our 50-amp site. That was "going the extra mile" service you don't see very often anymore. Lots of beautiful, tall trees, a nice pool, kids' play area, a gelato bar, and small petting zoo add interest. Maybe a little pricey, but because of the service we received, we'll certainly stay there again if we come back through the area. read more

We have camped here for the past few years for their Halloween fest weekend. This year will be the last. We arrived on a Thursday with 4 other camping families. The campground was barely occupied especially around our site. The owners asked us to be quiet a few times even though it was just casual conversation around a campfire. The next night after quiet hours began I watched the male owner stalk us and other campers to ensure we all were quiet enough for him. At no time did any campers in the grounds complain. The only complaints I heard were about how strict and rude the male owner was being. Also be careful when booking cabins....they have hidden charges if you want to camp with children. Yes that was sarcasm....Why charge extra for kids?????? Family campground????? read more

I can't say enough about the front desk people and the rest of the staff at this KOA. They were so helpful and cheery! The area was clean and neat with a nice pool, two dog parks, a hiking trail, cute little cabins, and even a donkey to pet! Yes, it's off a main road and you can hear the trains but, imho, it was perfect. I'm solo RVing and it was important to feel safe. read more

Loved this place. I can not say enough good things about this KOA. We stayed there for a month and besides the train nearby can't think of anything negative. The owners Thomas and Patricia were more then accommodating. From the teenagers to the owners we loved them all. So friendly and helpful. The facilities are well kept and clean. They have an awesome park, nice pool, petting zoo,pet run,cabins, bikes to rent, miniature golf and so much more. We were there to visit our family so didn't use everything they offered. If we weren't from out of state we would definitely be back there often. read more

Beautiful campground! Patricia, the ladies at the front desk, and our delivery driver were amazing! Restrooms clean but outdated. Mini golf- glad we only paid $1- hole cups were elevated so the ball would never go in, rocks strewn across course. DO NOT GATHER STICKS FROM THE WOODS. Owner rudely reprimanded us for gathering dead sticks from the woods. Also- there is no pond. read more

Clean restrooms and showers, nice wooded area in a quiet setting. We booked online and "upgraded our tent reservation to a cabin on arrival as it is early October and a bit chilly. Nice, friendly staff. Cabin is clean, if a bit sparse. Heater is small but seems to be warming it up. I don't k ow if I'd stay here longer than a day, especially around football season with all the snarky reviews from people thinking this is a place to hang out for the games. Camp or move on folks. You can't expect a campground to act as a stand-in for a hotel room. Book your rooms earlier and leave the campground to actual campers... read more

We stayed here three nights while our RV was being repaired. This campground is clean and well maintained and the staff was helpful and friendly. It was pretty empty when we arrived Tuesday and began to fill up Thursday evening but the atmosphere remained the same. They gave out my personal information to a complete stranger! Who does that? We had a dispute with a neighborhood business (not their business and no one in the campsite) and the front desk gave them our names, address and cell phone number. I was LIVID. We ended up working out our dispute amicably and there was no problem, but again, WHO DOES THAT? Additionally, we couldn't get a DirecTV signal and it was a football weekend (they are right down the street from Notre Dame University and this is a HUGE football town), so we bought a cable from their campstore. We plugged the cable in and the cable outlet didn't work. The internet was spotty at best. The sites are super narrow and so are the roads in the campsite. I give them 1 star for their location to Notre Dame University, which is why we were there, for a game. They make you wear these stupid wristbands, and they enforce it like Nazis. I never put mine on and every time I came through the gate (which had an access card, so why the wristbands???) they glared at me. The owner/manager (I assume) drives through the campsite like a bat outta hell in his golf cart. If I had had kids with me, I would've been scared for their safety. Other than that, I'd never come back. read more

Every year in July about 60 or so of my extended family come here for what we call "Cousins Camping". We have been coming for 24 years and absolutely love it! Patricia and Thomas are wonderful. They are both very kind. It is a wonderful camp for people of all generations. There is a very cool playground, a nice pool for the kids to enjoy, and a cute petting zoo. As well as a nice patio/porch area to hang out in. My family loves to play volleyball and tetherball. The location is convenient to restaurants and shopping as well. Every year when we leave this KOA we can't wait to come back!! read more

No Indiana hospitality here, rather they treat you like you don't belong..actually I saw a staff member treat a dog better than me. As a registered guest, I was asked to wear an armband due to, in their words, "crowd control" since it was a football weekend...no problem. I went to dinner with my husband, and when I returned, a staff member was checking for armbands at the gate. Apparently mine fell off, and I was not allowed to enter with my husband...I had to get out of our truck (which was the registered vehicle we pulled our RV with) go in the office and get a new armband (for an extra $10)...at complete RIPOFF...these staffers had my name, phone #, address and credit card...AND they were all the same staff I had talked with earlier in the day. Apparently this KOA is void of customer service and allowing customers to enjoy their camping experience. A staff reply was "you have to pay and wear an armband when you go to a concert". So here's some common sense advice (there was also a policeman at the gate, so plenty of staff) ..campers such as ourselves who are not attending the football game, should camp in a separate area, avoiding the rediculous camping armband...regardless, all customers should be treated with respect. I am very disappointed! I have stayed at a ton of KOA's, their website is very nice, you put how many adults, kids, dogs, etc. Then you pay a down payment and the rest once you arrive. (As I do every time). Upon arriving they show you to your site, let you set up, then tell you to check in with the office when done. So we did. At the office they tried charging us $25 more ($135+ for two nights) because of a dog fee and a child fee, even though they are only 1 & 3 yrs old. On the website when you book, it says 0-4 are free??? The campground is small, small sites, all kid toys are old and outdated, and everything is aged. People came and went, using it just for somewhere to park your rig overnight. That's about all its good for. I will still camp at KOA, unfortunately just not this one ever again. I am still mad they let you set up then try to charge you more money. This has never happened at any other KOA I have camped at. read more

I don't see any option of giving any 0 or negative stars or sure would have. Our group went to this campground and rented 2 cottages for a night. So we were having a great time till 2 am, but that's when the nightmare started. The kids were asleep in the bedroom, and the little guy (10 months old) started crying. That's when we saw big bed bugs, like 40-50 of them crawling over kids. We decided we cannot stay in this campground anymore, since we have good reason to believe all cottages will have the same issue. So we woke up the facility manager and his wife who were mad at us for waking them up, obviously we weren't going to call 911 for this. Then we we showed them pictures of the bed bugs they blamed us and they said "People from Chicago are dirty, they always come here and blame us for bedbugs. They're the ones who get these bed bugs here". Eventually after 2.5 hours or arguing, they asked us to leave and reimbursed our money. Forget this campground, I have doubts if we will ever camp after this experience. Its probably better to get your own RV. read more

This past weekend was our 4th stay at this KOA and will be our last. Our daughter is a student at Notre Dame and we found after her freshman year that it was almost impossible to get a hotel room for football weekends or any other special event weekends on campus. Hence we decided to utilize our RV for visits. We would have never come back after our first stay in 2013 if it weren't for these circumstances. Our first stay involved us being belittled for talking too loud (4 adults) around a campfire early in the evening. They continued to drive by our site on their golf cart...almost like we were being stalked. The next night we were greeted at the gate by uniformed security guards/police (which I did confirm with the St. Joseph County Sheriffs office this morning are not their officers) shining their flashlights in our RV counting people and demanding to see our wristbands. Really??? This is a KOA in Granger IN not Fort Knox. The next couple visits we would pull in (go through the process of the "Police" shining their flashlights and asking to see our wristbands - note we are talking about myself, my husband and 2 - 15 year olds), hook up our RV, go to sleep, and pull out in the morning. There is no history of us being rowdy or loud. This last trip was the icing on the cake!!! I paid the 2 night minimum because it was a Football weekend and gave them a heads up that we would not be arriving until around 10:30pm Saturday night. Upon check in my party of 6 - 40 year old professional women with children went to the check in counter and I was charged an additional $96.00. I asked Patricia the owner why I was being charged so much and she said she was charging me for the 4 extra people and dog for both Friday & Saturday night....even though we weren't even there Friday night. I wasn't going to argue with her as it was 10:30 at night and from our past experiences with them I knew where it would go. I have already put in a dispute with Am/Ex to not pay this charge. Patricia then proceeded to go on with the check in and these were her exact words..."Here are your wristbands and if you do not have them on in the park you will be tackled by police". Really??? Tackled by Police??? I made sure to let the St. Joseph Sheriff department know what they were telling guests this morning. And as she was going over the map and telling me where I could take my dog she said "If you do not pick up after your dog you will find it as gift when you leave". PATHETIC! At this point she told me I had to give her the names of everyone in my party. I jokingly looked at my friends and said "I really want to put down your names as Donald Duck, Minnie Mouse and so on. If I had not been 6 hours from home with no other place to take my party we would have left on the spot. We then walked out of the park with our wristbands in hand and went to the corner restaurant for a late dinner. On our way back in the park we were stopped by Thomas who said we had to put the wristbands on our wrists and that holding them was not good enough because the "Police" would come in our RV and look to see if we had them on. I said "Really....the police are going to come in my RV when we are sleeping and make sure we have our wristbands on?" By this time I had enough of this BS and said I had held my tongue for the past 2 years and this was ridiculous and I was going to post a negative review online. He said he didn't care what I posted and he than put his fingers in my face, said my name, and said "You have been here 3 times and that is 3 times too many go to your RV". They looked up how many times I had stayed in the past?!?? He was intimidating and considering we didn't have our spouses with us...very scary! We travel extensively throughout the country and I heavily rely on reviews. I sometimes feel guilty that I have never taken the time to do my part and leave my opinion on experiences...good or bad. However I felt the way we were treated was not acceptable, downright aggressive really, and if I could save the next ND fan or any other party from having to experience these 2 awful people it would be worth the time writing this. read more

The only reason I voted 5 stars is because I couldn't vote 6. This was an outstanding campgrounds! They literally saved our vacation. We were going to stay at another campground in Indiana, but heard there was no pool and no hot water. No thank you. So literally that day I went online and booked this campground. From the time we pulled in, there was someone waiting for us at the entrance. He led us to our camp site and told us to take our time setting up and come check in when ready. The teenagers were very friendly and surprisingly intelligent about how the KOA value card system worked. They even saved us money on the trip. Everyone was very helpful. The facilities were clean and well maintained. The ONLY flaw I found was the pool wasn't as warm as I thought it would have been and it did need some cleaning. But even this wasn't a huge deal. It is close to the toll road and close to anything in South Bend. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks! read more
