On 1/7/26 at 12: 15 i went to the Riverhead Branch of RBS. I needed a quote for all the materials for a 4000 sq ft new construction. I had a complete detailed take off, about 1" thick. There were three counter people, dark haired woman about 40 yrs old, grey haired woman 60+ and a young man about 30yrs old. Each one of them essentially told me to go away. They could not give me the name or phone number or e mail of a person to speak to. ( Of course i have full construction plans in pdf). That afternoon i went to the RBS web site and sent a message to "estimating" asking where i could send my plans for a quote. Two days later and no response. I only build one house every two years or so and I'm sure my 500-600 thousand order is small potatoes to RSB but you would think they would make an effort. The counter people sit in a beautiful showroom and can sell you a shovel or wheelbarrow but they are otherwise incompetent. They really could not be bothered. My assistant who was with me was appalled. But you know what, I would bet that the Goodale owners would not be happy to know how things work below them. No sense going back. read more

I had a fantastic experience with RBS. I came in initially in the spring with all the appearances of a "tire kicker" saying I was looking to redo my kitchen "possibly" in November. Susan was phenomenal. She took her time, answered numerous questions, and showed great patience. I came back numerous times, and even when my wife attempted to throw a crazy curveball, Susan didn't bat an eyelash. RBS's materials were great, my kitchen was completely redone, only a bay window and seat weren't changed out, even my ceiling has v groove for accents. RBS worked seamlessly with my contractor, and we had no supply issues. The time frames and initial price estimates wound up being overestimated (I made it clear I'd rather prepare for the worst), but within reasonable variances to the quotes. I couldn't give a higher recommendation, everyone keeps saying how fantastic the Kitchen came out! read more

So I went to Riverhead Building Supply to order exterior doors and molding for a renovation. The glass double doors fell apart in less than a year and was replaced but it was never in good alignment so I had to fix it myself. We again went to Riverhead to buy a front door and locks and handles. They didn't have a door as the original one from them was falling apart in less than a year! So we tried to get locks from Riverhead but the sales person disappeared. We called and came back to the store to no response! We ordered $10k worth of locks and handles and a new door for $8k all in! Came time to install some new doors so we called Riverhead and a guy came and measured for the doors and never returned!!! We have two glass doors to our den and one door the glass cracked! I called Riverhead and got a runaround! Needless to say Riverhead is not my first choice for any building supplies!!!!! read more

Hired them to fix my sliding glass doors and windows. They have come to the house four times in six months, always with incorrect parts. They are incompetent and disorganized not to mention rude. read more

I purchased kitchen cabinets from Riverhead Building Supply at the recommendation of my contractor. Mike who came to measure my kitchen measured the space completely wrong by over 18 inches, ordered the wrong sink cabinet for the sink I had purchased, and sent one cabinet in a different color and style. He was arrogant and rushed us through the process of spending over $15,000 while having his next appointment standing over us waiting for their appointment. His error and lack of attention to detail cost us 6 weeks without a kitchen Neither him or Riverhead Building had the decency to reach out when his error became evident. While the kitchen cabinets are beautiful, Riverhead should be embarrassed at the skill and professionalism of their employees and their lack of policy to make things right. read more

We recently completed a large renovation their support and guidance was integral to the success of our project. From product selections to planning our kitchen, specials shout out to Sandy, she was exceptional in designing our kitchen and cabinet selections. The staff has great expertise, and a positive and professional attitude when you deal with him. We had great experience at the Riverhead location as well as the Greenport location. It's really a pleasure to do business with a company like this. Home renovation is very stressful these folks really made the process smooth. I purchased about 20 windows from riverhead building supply. I removed the old ones measured the rough openings and ordered them. Not one problem on twenty windows. Then I had to replace an old casement in the kitchen but could not take it out until I got the new double hung replacement. I meassured the window and gave the salesman the measurements . He then gave me the rough opening and ordered the window. When i got the window it was four inches to small on the witdth and two and a half on the height. I went back to the salesman and he said to me (How do I know you didn't just right in those numbers) I was totally insulted, and then was told their was nothing he could do. So needless to say I will never go back to Jason at riverhead building supply. After being treated like that i would not recommend them to anyone. read more

I went looking for cabinet knobs all over the place. Most places I looked at were kind of helpful, but wouldn't even take a knob off the wall so I could place it on my sample cabinet. They told me I could order some samples to do that. I went to Riverhead building supply and the customer service there is amazing!! I worked with Jason, who actually took several samples off the wall and let me take them back home to Brooklyn with me to see how they looked. When I returned, still unsure of my decision, he worked with me, until I found the right ones. Never rushed me, letting me sample as many knobs as I wanted in the store. Once I found the right knobs and pulls for my cabinets, he gave me a great price for them and told me they'd be delivered to the store in 4-5 business days. To my surprise, the very next day I got a call saying they were in!! Extremely happy girl here!!! Outstanding customer service and they have a really big assortment of knobs, pulls and other building supplies. Highly recommend!!! read more
