If you lose your card on a weekend, there is nothing you can do but go online and hope the shut off button works, there's no way to get confirmation. I lost my card yesterday and while I was able to use the app to shut it off, when I called there was an endless phone tree and when I was able to get in touch with someone, they were basically a live answering machine, that is when I got one that would talk to me. The first one told me they werent able to talk about accounts online (wtf?) And the second hung up on me, literally said to someone in the room "I'm just going to hang up" then *click*. When I got ahold of someone, they had no ability to do anything to help. Literally nothing, and were obviously just following a call center algorithm... I could hear them whispering the prompts to themselves as they read them. I get that they are a local credit union, but they should have 24 hour support for theft, its one of the most important concerns customers have. Advantis didnt have a problem with customer support on a weekend. I cant gaurantee my card has been shut off, I cant report charges, I cant order a new card.... nothing. And its a holiday weekend so Ill be unable to access my money (I cant get gas, buy groceries, pay for parking... nothing) for three days. So my holiday plans are out the window and Ive had to get clever feeding my cats. This is wrong on so many levels. If you cant provide theft and fraud support outside of business hours, you should let your customers know. If I had known I wouldnt have started banking with them. There are other credit unions that provide fraud and theft protection with 24/7 support, Id go with one of them if I were you. I hear OnPoint is really good. Ill be opening an account with them when I can access my money. read more

I was an Advantis CU customer and wasn't super happy about the merger--you know, the whole "surprise, it wasn't really much of a merger; your bank is gone" thing. But how different could it be, right? Just deal with it. Since then, I've gone into the former Advantis location in Woodstock (now Rivermark), and the people have been replaced by machines. There are these kiosks where you basically FaceTime customer service if you need to talk to someone. They're kind of cleverly positioned facing the wall to make it less obvious what they are. Fine--I guess it's like self-checkout for banking. The only reason I went in was because phone support told my partner she couldn't do something with our shared account because her contact info wasn't on it. Mind you, this account has her phone number listed as the contact number. That's a problem because the whole point of this account is joint ownership. We have other individual accounts. At the branch, I did get to sit with a real person. After looking at the account, they said phone support must have been mistaken--my partner has full rights, which is no surprise because we've had that for several years. Okay, no big deal. I'm going to spare you the lack of follow-through from that person on a second matter and focus on something more important: Rivermark online banking. I went to move money **between a personal account and a business account at Rivermark** in two transfers. Both were over a thousand dollars but under $5,000. The second transfer failed with: "The transaction was declined with a 'Risk Evaluation Declined Transaction' error." Well, great--now my accounting is going to be messed up for a quarterly tax payment. I messaged customer service and asked, very clearly: "Could you please: 1. Explain what triggered this decline on an internal transfer 2. Confirm whether there are transfer limits or conditions I'm not aware of 3. Ensure my accounts are flagged appropriately so routine internal transfers aren't blocked in the future." The next day, mid-morning, I got this back: "Thank you for your message, I hope this finds you well. I see you were able to make the transfer from Rewards Checking () to Business Savings (). There may have been something wrong with the system at the time you tried the first transaction. You should be able to do this kind of transaction on your account. I am glad that it worked for you. If you have further issues, let us know but I think it must have been a one off." It's true that a transaction went through. But it didn't actually "work for me." The error meant I couldn't make the payment from the intended account and meet the deadline. And the error message is pretty specific, right? It sure sounds like an anti-fraud / risk system decision. Had this person never heard of that error, or did they just choose not to look into it? Hard to know. Either way, the easiest thing was to assume everything worked out and move on. They can presume that going forward, too--because we're moving on from Rivermark. One last thing to the former Advantis Cu execs: I hope that you are enjoying the change-of-control clauses / 457(f) comp plans you took while selling out credit union members to this terrific bank. I mean, its just finance anyway, right? People don't know. read more

Don't join this credit union. If you are already a member, seriously consider closing your account(s) and moving to a different CU. This CU keeps Zelle payments for however long they want - without any explanation. Once a month, I receive pay from my employer via Zelle - usually an instant payment - NOT at this bank. It has taken up to 10 days to actually be deposited into my account. Beware and be forewarned! I am looking into possible legal action now....... read more

I have been a Rivermark CU member for over 10 years. We had an auto loan and credit card with them. We paid off the auto loan and have kept the Visa. After moving across country we have had the hardest time communicating with this bank. They changed their system a few years ago and stopped letting me pay my loan on their bank platform. This literally took weeks, seriously weeks, to get straightened out. It was beyond frustrating. I had to do video interviews to gain access to my account and more. It was very odd. But ok, fine, I added them as a bill pay on my banks online banking system. This pay system has worked for over a year, but suddenly last month they start rejecting my payment stating that they 'can't find my account'. If you have ever tried calling them, you know how frustrating it can be. Over 30 minute wait times on the regular. So I call today to try and get this straightened out. I knew it was going to be a sh*tshow. They ask a series of questions to identify you, but the questions are somehow a trick I guess, because the information I am giving them clearly indicates that it's my account but she says it doesn't match their info, but offers no way to correct it. I then ask to speak to a supervisor and he very snippily tells me he has to ask the same freaking questions. Do they think that I am trying to hack into someones visa bill and pay it? It doesn't make sense. It's like Fort Knox to get information on your own account. I now have to wait for a specialist to call me back to get this figured out. The level of customer service and the difficulty they put their customers through is pretty insane. The wait times are forever. They are not helpful or even offer a solution or say that they are sorry that I am frustrated. It's like, nope, sorry, we can't access your account, bye! Give me an option to get this figured out. It's like they are little robots trained to do one thing and that's it. No other financial institution I deal with does anything like this. Full name , Account number, SSN, Pin, Address, email - one of these combos of information is going to suffice, but somehow it's not enough for RCU and creates such a frustrating, angering and bewildering scenario. Since Advantis Credit Union was acquired by Rivermark Credit Union, the customer service is GARBAGE. When calling the contact number for members. the phone tree has NO OPTION TO SPEAK TO A REPRESENTATIVE. Every time I call, I choose multiple choices that all lead to a suggestion of going to their website. If I'm calling, it's because I have banking business I cannot conduct on the website. If I do happen to somehow reach a human being on the phone, there's a 2 in 3 chance that it is NOT a Rivermark employee but someone from a generic banking contracting business who does not know Rivermark policies or have any helpful information. I have been told erroneous information, such as "you need to go to a branch to do that transaction" only to call back a few minutes later and get an actual competent Rivermark representative that is able to handle the transaction over the phone. Rivermark has replaced knowledgeable tellers with video tellers that are located somewhere. We get to do our banking business publicly, in front of everyone in the lobby and the live people just greet people and stand around chatting. I feel badly for the Rivermark employees who have not been set up to succeed in this awful merger. I am often frustrated and angry and there is little they can do about this horrible situation. I will be pulling all of my money from many accounts from this institution. UNACCEPTABLE! read more

after the merger Rivermark has gone down hill. when the merger happened online banking switched to cant access on line banking. I asked for a new card and they said they did not have the ability to make them in-house. after weeks of calling and going to the branch they said sorry it was never ordered. I removed half of my account and started an account with on point. I recently tried to buy something on line in Pennsylvania and my card did not work. I had to call Rivermark and they said "you tried to buy something out of state". i had to call the card services and they said yes if you want to buy something out of state you need to call us and ask or put your settings on traveling. Someone from Rivermark called me a few days later and I told the story to them and they said that was not the case and they will try to educate the staff on this and they were very sorry. I still dont know if I can use my card outside of Oregon. Save yourself some trouble and shop around for your credit union. read more

After a very grueling long process/morning, where I was unaware that I was being charged late fees and my business account was not setup properly, I finally got my account settled and to where it was not in default (Unknown to me!!!!). My credit account balance showed $0, but I guess not. The customer service person was lovely and helpful, however Rivermark's new customer service system is god awful!! So hard to even get someone on the line. Rivermark used to be a bank I was proud of, but since the Advantis merger it is just horrible. The app, the experience, the BILL PAY IS GARBAGE (Checks for bill pay and they are still way late?!?) Also Rivermark tells customers to call back to a phone number that has no way of talking to a person?!? You can only leave another message. So you are left with just questions unanswered. I am about to leave Rivermark all together. read more

After Rivermark assumed Advantis I have had nothing but problems. They cost my hundreds of dollars after the transition. They did pay 250$ but that did not cover the expenses I assumed for their take over that I did not sign up for. Now they are obstructionist and lack critical thinking skills to provide me with the legal documentation I need from them to verify my business that has been operation for years. They tried to change my business name, ummmm no, they do not get to make that desicion. Do not even think about using this credit union for your business. They are inept, incompetent, and should only be utilized for banking at a child's inteligience. read more

Hannah P. is a business manager who's replying to reviews but obviously isn't reading them. She tells many people to to call, yet the answering system isn't working correctly which is the problem. Come to a branch, I live in Springfield.. that's a bit of a travel for some thing that could be answered in 5 minutes on a phone call. I'm done with these folks. Made large final payment on my loan and closing account as soon as I get my title. I'll stick to Chase Bank from now on. read more

My recent experience with Rivermark was awful. Upon applying for a new credit card with a lower interest rate (that I was pre approved for) I was told I would needed a co signer. Mind you I have held a back account since I was 16, I am 48 now. I have never missed a payment or been sent to collections. I have acquired a mortgage, paid off several car loans, have excellent credit and hold 2 other credit cards with zero balance. I have never used a co-signer! The audacity to suggest I needed my husband (that I do not share finances with) as a co-signer was beyond insulting. I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Exceptionally poor customer service and lots of IT and online banking issues that have worsened over the past ten years with longer wait times, more system outages, and delays with just about everything. It is now August 6th and I still don't have a statement for the month of July. These kind of delays are simply not acceptable in the modern age, especially when every other financial institution I do business with have sent statements at the end of last month. I've been on hold with them for 30 minutes today trying to resolve, but it's very difficult to connect with a human. The service has steadily deteriorated over the past years, and I will definitely be looking into moving elsewhere. read more

We had been members of Advantis for many years and found them to be awesome. The new corporation,Rivermark, thinks they are too big for us little guys anymore. I wanted to renew a CD and thought I could call and do it over the phone. i spent over an hour on the phone waiting for someone to pick up. No one answered so I tried to renew the CD online. That was a big mistake also. That ended with them trying to have me open a brand new account to renew a CD. I ended up driving to the branch where it took about two minutes to complete. The branch employees are still the best though. That is why I gave two stars rather than one. They do not answer the phone and you cannot even talk to a branch as the phone system goes to a central location somewhere. They are now hawking insurance too and beware, read the fine print. I too am in the process of moving all my accounts elsewhere but with CD's and several differing accounts it will take awhile. They are not the same great company that Advantis was. The website is often inaccessible. Communication is poor. Response times are slow. I liked Advantis much better. I didn't have near the problems with Advantis as I have had with Rivermark. Both my partner and I, my mother, and brother have a lot of money tied up with Rivermark, but we'll hopefully find another bank that appreciates our business. read more

The worse service ever customer support hang up on you can't get a live person to speak with can't get a manger what happened to customer service person? I have been a member for over 38 years and this is very sad that there is no way to talk to someone to get help proper help . 38 years ago I would walk in and they would say hello Mr Hewitt how is your day going now it's nothing takes 5 things for You to get Into your account and Customer service is rude and mostly over seas help wow . Unfortunately, I have to share that after more than 24 years as a member, with the merger with Advantis, the service I received at Rivermark Credit Union has declined significantly. My mortgage with Advantis was transferred to Rivermark... nobody at Rivermark can tell me how to make a payment, and I just got a collect call from another department at Rivermark telling me I was late with payments. I had never had a late fee or late payment in all the years since I purchased the house 12 years ago. Embarrassing. Rivermark GET IT TOGETHER! read more

Do not bank with them if you ever need money transferred. I attempted to setup a transfer from an external account into Rivermark and my external bank required verification of my information from an employee at the bank. One staff member rudely told me that wasn't something she can do. One staff member was helpful and at least tried lots of different angles, all which were unsuccessful. When I communicated my frustration to the manager, they immediately went on the defense. Despite rationalizing with the manager that I am in the bank IN PERSON approving the connection of MY two accounts so I can have access to MY money, they did not want to help. Rivermark took over Advantis and it has been so difficult in terms of my mortgage transfer to a servicer o Rivermark's choosing. I described the problems I've had in an earlier review. My comments were echoed by other prior Advantis customers. To summarize: - Friendly but unable to assist staff. - Friendly staff not told of Rivermark's intended actions resulting in Rivermark removing a payment from my checking account without authority when it was not due. - Rivermark this taking two payments when only one was due and had already been received by Rivermark. - Rivermark sending two letters, three days apart, telling me I owed $4,000 more when that was not true, - Rivermark customer service number looking like an Oregon number but actually being to a call center in the mid-west where staff, once again, could not help. - Receipt of a letter today stating my next payment is due 8/1/25 when that is not correct. The agreed upon date is the 3rd of each month- not the first. This is beginning to reach nightmare, no reliance possible status in terms of lack of communication within Rivermark. I will have to call on Monday. I've already spent hours on this. I would expect better execution by Rivermark, a much smoother transition. I am very sorry the Advantis board approved this takeover. read more

Very frustrated with this credit union. We had our car loan through Adventis. NEVER had a problem. Then this merger with Rivermark was a complete disaster. I paid the loan off early. What a joke to get someone on the phone to just tell me how to and where to send the check!! I finally got an answer and a payoff amount. Sent the check in they cashed it on April 7th but still took a payment on April 24th. Back on the phone AGAIN. Guess what, all they could do was take my number and have someone get back to me within 1 business day. The person on the phone could not help me at all. I hope they get back to me within 1 day and then how long will I have to wait for a refund??? I miss the credit union personal touch. I won't be banking with Rivermark in the future. Ive been a member for approx. 20 years. For the first 19 I really loved them as a bank. Sadly they are not the same after the Advantis merger. Glitches and issues persist to this day. Even though I'm not planning to leave (too much work) this review is to encourage others to run, don't walk, in a different direction. It's "impossible" to chat or talk to anybody. They moved to using useless chatbots. calling them is a nightmare of a phone tree (options don't include one for "other"). If you connect with someone (and don't get subsequently disconnected) it's 50:50 at best they can help and the background noise sounds like a very sketch call center. Really the only redeeming quality left is if you go in to a branch (not all branches) they have some great folks. generally the small branches (like on Sandy or in Happy Valley) are not friendly and they make it hard to do a simple transaction. I (personally) feel they have leaned way to hard into technology for every solution. They seem to want you to do all of the work; then their tech glitches with regularity. read more

I have had fraud take place on my account ten days ago that still hasn't been addressed. When this credit union was Advantis...who I had a two decade successful relationship with...my money would be returned to me within a day or two. My situation hasn't even been ACKNOWLEDGED ten days later. They outsource customer service to know nothing third world boiler room operators who don't give a rat's ass about you or your money. As soon as it is practical, I will be removing all monies from my account and never dealing with this botched mess of an organization again. Really sad when something so good goes so bad so quickly. Our Advantis CU is now Rivermark. We are applying for HELOC. Privacy and Security is number one, of course. They want you to use voice rec!! I'm not ready for that. They have many other necessary security checks to get through.. Then they send out our Application packet in regular mail, no tracking , no notice, absolutely no security! all the info anyone would need to steal our identities ! it was delivered to the wrong house! two streets away!! Totally freaked me out when the person (Thankfully) brought it back to us. I felt sick, like are you kidding me??? called them and said WHY?? they said that's the way they do it.. :0/ Not acceptable! read more

Rivermark has shown me everything a financial institution should never be. On March 24, I deposited my paycheck--a legitimate check from a local trust account--via mobile deposit. They released $1,500, which I responsibly used for bills. Hours later, my account was drained to $0 with no notice. No call. No email. Just vanished funds. When I called to get answers, I was met with confusion, contradiction, and a representative who interrogated me about the check as if I'd deposited monopoly money--despite the check being clearly marked as payment for services. Then came the excuse: I "don't have a history of large deposits." Of course I don't--this is a new account following a forced merger. Punishing me for your own transition is not a policy. It's negligence. The experience was made worse by the tone and behavior of a representative who was condescending, dismissive, and entirely unhelpful, choosing to place blame instead of provide solutions. I have since filed formal complaints with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, NCUA, and Oregon Division of Financial Regulation--because no one, and I mean no one, should have to fight this hard just to access their own paycheck. I will be closing my account the moment my funds are released, and I strongly urge anyone reading this to reconsider banking here. Until the merger with Advantis, I would have given Rivermark 5 Stars. Now, I'm sorry to say I'm having trouble giving them 2 Stars. The customer service used to be excellent. I was able to speak with a knowledgeable person who listened and understood my request. Today, I had to dial in 3 times before I could make my request only to have someone who was woefully inadequate and couldn't give me the information I needed. The first operator apologized because her online communication was down; the second kept saying "I can't hear you" while it sounded like a full-scale riot was taking place in the background; the third call was answered and the person took forever to figure out the security questions she was supposed to be asking. I hung up without getting the information I needed. While debits and credits posted quickly with the old Rivermark, it takes forever for a debit to post. I made a purchase last Saturday that still hasn't posted as of today (Thursday) and the credit's I'm expecting from returned merchandise are still absent. These items sit in "Pending" with the warning that the amount might not be the final amount due. I have already started looking at other options in the local credit unions. I am frustrated and disgusted with this dumbing down of what was an excellent credit union. read more

Got switched over to rivermark from advantis. Got charged a dormant fee for not using account with no communication about it. Yet they claim they did so glad closed it before I had to owe them. I lost quite a bit of money though so sad but will never bank there again read more

This credit union used to be amazing... the new BANK is terrible. My money has been unavailable to me and bill pay has been wonky this week. Their false promises of "no issues during the merger" is a giant lie. Trying to close my accounts has been a nightmare. Sadly, I no longer trust Rivermark CU, who I used to have every loan through and do all my banking. RIP the days of a trustworthy credit union!!! I am not sure what is going on but after waiting for days for the Advantis merger to go through I still cannot get into my account online. I have tried over and over but no. So I tried to do a chat...no way. So I called the main Rivermark number - they aren't accepting calls, so I called my Hawthorne branch, they are also not accepting calls. I have no access to my bill pay and I just received an email that said online banking is up and running but it is not. Something is seriously wrong with this merger. I guess I will go down there tomorrow - hope the doors are open. read more

Got a car loan through them and it's been a constant battle just to pay the loan every month. Their online digital banking is horrible and is constantly having errors and their customer support is horrid. I have the money but I can't seem to pay it on time. Many years with Advantis Credit Union. Started when it was just City of Portland, later PACE. Always appreciated how well trained and courteous employees were. If I called on the phone they could actually fix a problem and give guidance. As of June (to present) this seems to have all changed. Phone people are useless and emails go unanswered. I endured the transition of merge with Rivermark and gave them forgiveness along with patience. Now with the merger completed it appears they have settled into a total lack of service. On line is limited to basics and support people are not knowledgeable or able to solve anything. They respond as if reading a script. Very reluctantly I am realizing and accepting the way it was is no more. Time to move out of this credit union. read more

I have been a member of Advantis Credit Union for decades. With the recent merger with Rivermark, I cannot find a way to call the CU with a simple question. Their virtual assistant is virtually worthless. They want me to make an appointment to ask a simple question and the first available appointment was 24 hours from now. I need to receive an incoming wire and since my account transferred from Advantis I wanted to confirm the routing information. Seems simple. Guess I'll have the money wired to another institution. read more
