The Capital One Cafe is a secret gem in Portland. It's less of a bank and more of an ATM with a two-story coffee shop. Some of the best views looking the square with ample seating. They have meeting rooms and couches. They had a promotion during the summer that drinks were free on Mondays for mlb. And it really was that easy, I came in and I got a free drink. Staff was friendly and the coffee was exactly as I ordered. Some of the drinks were a little sweet, but that's kind of the status quo for coffee shops these days. I only wish they had later hours. It's very much bank hours but with a coffee shop feel on the swear. I wish they were open past 4:00. read more

Date of visit: May 11, 2026 I've happened by a couple of these in the past but never took advantage of any of them before, despite having a crazy expensive annual fee Capital One card! We had a few minutes to kill before our food tour and popped in for a Chocolate Covered Cherry Mocha, which was fantastic! Charlene the barista was super friendly (though it was odd that she didn't know the bathroom code and directed us to another member of staff) and if I was a local, I could definitely see coming in here regularly for 50% off my items and maybe getting a little bit of work done in the cafe as well. There was significantly more milk and the matcha flavor was undermined. Excellent place! I love that Capital One had partnered with a small roaster that's sustainable in their production of coffee. Verve Coffee is delicious and worth the time to try! Everyone's reviews of Capital One and their employees are always great. That is one of the reasons my wife and I were looking forward to opening an account today. However, I would refrain from going to this branch ever. In fact we have no desire to bank with Capital One anymore after today. After confirming the branch's hours via their own telephone number, my wife and I arrived with what should have been plenty of time to open an account. However, when we tried to follow an employee in the door, she rudely said "we're closed" and slammed the door in our faces. I did not catch her name because she gave us no opportunity to respond before slamming the door. Another customer using the ATM near us commented immediately about how rude this employee was to us. We could also clearly see that there were other people sitting inside the branch we were denied access to. This experience completely turned us off to banking with Capital One. We don't want to bank with someone that hires employees that feel it is okay to treat a customer this way. I will also be telling everyone about this experience and suggesting at a minimum, a different branch, if not even a different bank altogether. read more

I really like the capital one café because there are study rooms for people who work in nonprofits and students where you can host meetings at. There are two smaller rooms for privacy that you can reserve on the second floor. It's very spacious with lots of seating available. You can also see pioneer square from the second floor. Pumpkin pie latte w/ oatmilk is delicious. I also really enjoyed the candy apple matcha soda. And, the lavender latte was great. Definitely better than Starbucks in terms of the quality if you want to compare quality of beans, service, and atmosphere. read more

Something needs to be adjusted- either the price needs to come down or the quality of the food needs to come up. This Capital One Cafe has 2 floors with plenty of seating available! It is the perfect place to work or study. There are various room sizes where you could take calls or have meetings. They also have Capital One bankers and atm available if needed! The cafe has an extensive list of drinks and is 50% off when you pay with your capital one card! When I visited, the espresso machine was broken so they couldn't make any espresso drinks. We ended up ordering a matcha latte and cafe au lait (dripped coffee with milk). Both were disappointing drinks... the matcha latte was mainly milk with a small hint of matcha flavor and the cafe au lait was not strong at all, basically equivalent to a kcup coffee. I visited other Capital One Cafes before and this one definitely has potential, I would stick with the espresso drinks next time. 09/18/21: 4.75 out of 5 - Came to deposit money into my Capital One account. Seems to the only place I am available to do so in the Portland area. It is a nice set up and spacious. Nice seating area with WiFi available, and clean bathrooms. The kept bathrooms alone is enough reasons to uptick my score for this establishment. The Capital One staff are quite nice, and very informative. Kept it urbanly professional. The ATM is simple to use with updated tech for an ATM. The Peet's Coffee staff are also quite nice and helpful. They did a great job with my Iced Mocha.
