Ever since they took over Advantis CU their service has been terrible. It takes over 30 minutes to get a live person on the phone to answer simple questions! Look elsewhere for a financial institution! Their app is worse than any other bank, and for simple transactions like opening a CD you have to get a live person on the phone! Advantis is an excellent bank and I've always had superb customer service. I cannot say that for many banks. Ash helped me out yesterday and was patient and knowledgeable. They need to improve with their savings account interest rates to compete with the other banks right now, but for CD's and day to day banking they get an A+. read more

Too often customers are quick to complain when they are dissatisfied with a service provided. Unfortunately, those same customers are also not likely to provide recognition to someone who provides outstanding service. I am NOT one of those customers (I hope). Instead, I prefer to praise businesses, and particularly employees of those businesses, for outstanding performance. Toward that end I wish to praise Advantis Credit Union for the outstanding customer service that is always provided to me when I walk through the doors. The crew at the Scholls Ferry branch are exceptional at providing outstanding customer service. I am always made to feel welcome and appreciated whether it's if I'm making a small deposit or coming in to ask a quick financial question. Recently, my wife, daughter, and I needed a document notarized quickly on a Saturday and after speaking with the Advantis Credit Union after-hours phone support specialist, they confirmed that there was indeed someone at the Scholls Ferry Brach who could accommodate our need. We dropped in, without an appointment, and we were quickly and professionally assisted. This is a shout-out to Mr. Martin Moore, who is a Relationship Specialist at the Scholls Ferry branch, for his professionalism and kindness in providing the notary service we needed. He guided us through the process and in doing so we got the emergency document signed, notarized and ready to mail in record time. I opened this checking account so that I could deposit my coins from cash tips. Probably about $150 worth of coins. When I went in to deposit them, they had no coin counter, wouldn't give me coin sleeves, and completely and fully refused to help me put my money in the bank. The person who "helped" (?) me was very rude, I left a review and she hunted down my personal information and called my cell phone and left a message with an attitude. I did not respond to the message. I no longer use this bank. I removed my review because I was uncomfortable that someone tracked me down and called me, which is why you can see the business response below my review here. This instance happened in the summer of 2023. There's really nothing they can do to make this better except put a coin counting machine in like any normal bank. Advantis will report you to a credit bureau if you are 30 days late on a payment. And they'll give you a late fee. There used to be a time when credit unions didn't charge fees, but those days are long gone. I spent about 6 years paying off a car through Advantis. I never had a late payment. I got a credit card through them and back in 2022, I had a late payment. Well, I didn't think they had late fees, so I wasn't worried about being that prompt with my payments. But when I ran a recent credit report, I saw the 30 day ding. I also have been watching the interest rate climb on my credit card. They are alleviating blame by saying it's the economy and rising interest rates. Yet I have 8 lines of credit and Advantis has the 2nd highest interest rate. I have another card through a Portland CU and they're 4% less than Advantis. Maybe I'm to blame for not having a great FICO score, but that's improving, and I've paid off a car through these guys. I feel like I'm a good customer, but apparently 1 late payment - in a decade of business - makes you a bad customer with Advantis. I wouldn't bother leaving a scathing review except for the credit report. That and I asked them if they could lower my interest rate because I'm trying to raise my credit rating. They said they couldn't do anything for me, but offered for me to open another line of credit to pay off that debt. Seriously, like I want to do business with these guys for another however many years? The system - in my opinion - is broken. I'm looking to fix what I can within my power, but I'm telling you, there are better options than Advantis. I know there are "perfect" people when it comes to paying their debt, but most of us aren't and those who are dependable, prompt, but aren't making great money, are the ones that will get kicked by Advantis while they're down. There are too many options out there to be stuck with a financial institution that makes themselves sound appealing, only to stick it to you when they have the opportunity to do so. I hate that. You should shop around, ask questions, read the fine print, and don't just bank with a company - like Advantis - because they have an appealing sales pitch. Pass the word. They WILL report you to credit bureau's if you're 30 days late. BTW, I see a lot of people giving positive reviews for their customer service. People being nice is less important than what's happening to your credit and your money. There are better options than Advantis. read more

I left a lesser CU in 2021 to become a member here. All things considered, I really do like Advantis staff, but equipment is hit or miss. I waited for an 'on line teller' who must've been in the restroom. After waiting long enough to have completed the transaction, I disconnected to do the transaction at ATM... Out of order! So today, I can say without reservation the best attribute is... another CU's ATM is usually nearby in a Safeway or Fred Meyers. read more

I am a HUGE fan of Advantis. I first had a car loan through them, and every time I picked up the phone someone was on the other end to help. It's like the "old days" when banks/credit unions are actually there to help and care about you as an individual and can answer any questions you have from loans to savings to everything inbetween. (They are also very progressive/inclusive, so in that way, not like the old days at all!) This time around I got a HELOC through them and working with Ted Lowe as my Lending Specialist, and Ash Cancino, Relationship Manager, to close out the loan was fantastic. Every communication from Ted was thorough and timely and I felt like I made a couple new friends. My 16-year-old is wanting his first checking account and we'll be driving over to Advantis to set that up. I have a feeling they might recognize me when I walk in the door - a rarity these days. As a former career banker, I never thought I'd ever belong to a credit union. They are viewed as "the enemy" by bankers. But 20+ years ago I had changed careers and decided to try Advantis (it was called Electra back then) only because they were so conveniently located in the same business tower where I was working. Over the years, I've seen Advantis go through a few growing pains but make the smart improvements to its organization, processes, customer service and community outreach that led to its steady growth. Loan Approved!, only to be rescinded 6days later. Spent countless hours with the branch manager Nick, who wasted our time trying to understand why we got the response we did. Told us "He didn't blame us for being upset, because they obviously failed" in the underwriting process. We are taking our account and going elsewhere. If I didn't see it for myself, I would never believe it. As a Realtor for over 17 years, this is the biggest case of Racial discrimination and illegal lending practices I have ever witnessed. Home Loan, Vehicle Loan, Personal Loan? Steer clear of this Strip Mall Credit Union. It's our life's work now to spread the word about their illegal and biased lending practices. We've filed a complaint with the NCUA and ACLU of Portland. Queue the canned response from the person assigned at disADVANTIS to follow up on these complaints. We don't want to hear it. We spoke to Trevor at great length and he tried to qualify our application again on the phone. DTI Check, Verifiable W2 Income Check, Length of time at employer Check, FICO Check, Skin Color and Ethnic Decent Denied!. We found our financing with no problem - it's merely general principle and doing what's right at this point. With all the focus on racial equality, it absolutely floored us, that this could happen to us. The staff at the Scholls Ferry branch are great. My mother needed help in securing a loan on a property my parents have owned for over 60 years. After being turned away by a big credit union that they have been members at for over 60 years, Advantis went above and beyond to help them secure a HELOC that took into account their situation as seniors. They kept us informed throughout the process, and took the time necessary to get this loan done. Got a secured loan through advantis, not much, just enough to pay for some new tires and to help my credit score. Was told it would be a soft pull on my credit report. Couldn't quite figure out why they needed to do a pull on a secured loan regardless, but since it was a soft pull, whatever. Get an alert from credit karma after the loan is gone through, and guess what? They did a hard pull. Dropped my credit score by almost 20 points. The point of a secured loan is to boost your credit score. And since the loan was secured, advantis's risk was zero. There was literally no way for them to lose on this. And yet they did a hard pull, and negatively impacted my score. When I brought it up to them, I was told that they had done the pole to verify strange, I thought I already did that by providing them bills, ID, all of that. A more suspicious person might wonder if they had done the hard pull in order to make sure that someone had to pay over a longer period of time in order to counteract that hard pull, thus boosting their profits from the interest rate. It definitely kind of seems like that. I wouldn't recommend them. read more
