This is the first OnPoint branch (formerly Portland Teachers Credit Union) I was ever in, and it also is my home branch. I love this branch. The tellers are friendly, you are greeted at the door, and lines are usually pretty short. This OnPoint branch convinced me to re-finance at a great rate, and I am very glad I did. I have also taken out a Home Equity Line of Credit here, and am very satisfied with the service and rates. OnPoint has my small business accounts as well. Before I start, I need to say that Onpoint tellers are very pleasant to work with and the atmosphere inside the LO branch is very nice! Great for simple banking such as checking and simple savings, but here is my experience with loans. I played phone tag with LO OnPoint for weeks regarding my home refinance and I was never able to get anyone to answer any of my questions. Once I finally spoke with someone, I could tell that she was so annoyed with my questions. After we finished our talk I didn't have any understanding of the loan. I would say that my IQ is OK and I have a graduate degree but I couldn't understand this lady at all. And she made me feel so stupid! After we finished talking, I felt like a little 3rd grader who couldn't figure out simple math problems. In the end, I gave up asking her questions because she was getting frustrated with me not understanding what she was talking about. Sorry OnPoint, but I am not going to sign papers for hundreds of thousands of dollars without knowing where every cent goes. I should also mention that when I was shopping for a car loan (28K Prius) few years back, I applied with OnPoint in LO (I make over 100K and my credit score is 799) and they offered me 7% rate! All other banks offered 2%-3% rate to me! Of course, I used someone else. I really don't even know how they came up with 7%; perhaps shark loans? The loan officer in LO branch emailed me stating "I request that you leave me a voice message..." Then I had to sweat bullets the whole day worrying that I am not going to be able to answer my phone at her convenience. I've been with OnPoint for many years and I have several types of accounts with them. I will stay with them for checking and smile saving, but not financing. I would really like to keep my financial affairs local and I like my money going to the community I live in, but this experience was insulting to me. read more

This lady named Trisha is a racist and hates minorities at this branch I wish I can do No Stars the worst feeling ever being profiled I wanted to do cashiers check for 20k I was also a member for 3-4 years but she said no to me because the money is a large amount literally nothing else I spoke to the manager and closed my account right on spot because of how I was spoken to I never had to go thru anything like this before. My wife & I applied at OnPoint (Tigard) for a Home Equity Loan (we have large equity in our house). We also have a couple of credit issues from the recession, which we were totally upfront about. A week or so later, we got a call that our loan was approved and we could go ahead and schedule the remodeling work we had planned, which we did. About a week before the loan was to fund, I got a call from the branch mgr that our loan was denied because the title company had uncovered some credit issues. Yes, same ones that we disclosed at our first meeting. He also had misread our loan documents and stated that we owed an additional $155,000 on our mortgage. When I pointed out his mistake, his response was "well, there are those other issues". I have banked with OnPoint for several years, but am thinking of moving our accounts to a more honorable bank. Wife and I have banked here for over 10years now we've applied for car loans twice and 1 personal loan. Never been accepted. EVERY TIME DENIED. Reasons - they can't give us the loans cause of some BS excuses. Finding faults or something that happened years ago. Like that's what's affecting you from getting this loan. Last brand new car I bought was $65k and they didn't approve me. But went to the dealership and got approved on 4.8% how is this even possible if I have all these things they claim. And last week I went there to get another car loan for a truck DENIED. SO I WENT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND GOT APPROVED FOR 7.1% now I have my truck. Even my parents haven't been able to get loans from these people. Now I truly believe the color of you skin determines if you get a loan from them or not. Cause I know friends with bad credit that and all sorts of damaging stuff got approved cause they are on the other shade of color. Very very unsettling to see that this day and age people/companies will do such things. Especially a local bank a community bank. Not impressed. So after 10 or so years. We will be taking out banking somewhere else. Please people try to stay away. Do not trust them. They only approve certain types. Even if you make good money. NEGATIVE 2 star. Look at the photos no colored. What does that tell you. Maybe after this they will start including or adding us in pictures or commercials. read more

Just made a visit and was pleased with service. Mara was the teller and she was both pleasant and professional.

As far as OnPoint locations go this one is pretty decent. It's conveniently located, close to both I-5 and 217. I like to combine my errands in to one trip and it's location makes it easy to do that. Drop the GF off at work, grab a coffee, deposit my paycheck (my tiny company doesn't offer direct deposit so I have to do it the old school way), and onto whatever else needs doing without driving all over Surburbia. The tellers are generally friendly, as they are at every OnPoint, although the last time I was there my teller was a bit over-enthusiastic, almost pushy, in trying to convince me to sign up for their credit card. The first time I politely decline your offer should suffice, I don't like having to say no thanks two more times and then having a pamphlet shoved at me anyway. If it weren't for that experience I'd rate this branch five stars. read more

I have been an OnPoint member for years now and have never had issues with any of the tellers EXCEPT at the LO branch. Two older women in particular need help in the customer service department. I went in this morning and was greeted with annoyance and disdain from the teller that helped me. She was cold, rude and made me feel unwelcome. Some people should not be in customer service. Especially at a bank where people usually have questions or concerns. I will not be returning to the Lake Oswego branch, which is a shame considering it's where my business is. read more

It's a bank. A bank that doesn't seem quite up to date enough. Their bill pay service is a third party company, not something they do. I've used bill pay for ages, it's always all but instant. Here it takes days to process, days to actually move money and days still to get to its destination. I sent a paper check that beat their bill ay by almost a week. No excuse for that in this day and age. Also, they fee the heck out of everything, unlike a traditional credit union. It's just a big bank the hasn't kept up. I'm very impressed with OnPoint. Anytime I go in they are extremely helpful. We got refinanced on two properties this year and Kacie Luidhardt did an excellent job. Why can't I get my money!!! I have been trying to get groceries for 3 hours. I transferred money to all different cards on my account and no one sees it. Declined at the register, declined at the atm, then drove to one of your branches and declined at that atm. I call telephone teller to try and transfer it that way to see if maybe it's a problem with your online and the telephone teller says it's having technical difficulties and routes me to a line that says you are closed. 3 hours now and I have no access to my money and my fiance standing at the store with our groceries. This is ridiculous. This is the third time I have had this issue with onpoint and they always blaim the atm companies but I never had this problem when I had Wells Fargo or chase. read more

Th people at my Sellwood branch are very nice - no question. That being said, in my short time there - a year - I have already had several problems - so much so that I wish I had chosen a different, bigger bank. (I had been with Wells Fargo for years and just hate them and finally closed all my accounts after this last revelation of what crooks are running the joint!) Anyhow, I got a line of credit line with OP at an unbelievably high rate but I needed it so I took it. Am currently working with someone else to get it cut in half. I tried to turn it into a conventional loan but the help and follow-up from OP's loan officer, Jennifer, was practically non-existent compared to the person I am working with now, so I dropped that effort. They are not doing me a favor - I was going to pay them thousands! Then yesterday - the first time I have over-drafted - they over-drafted an auto-payment instead of taking the small overdraft part out of my attached savings account - in spite of the fact that I had filled out all the paperwork to do exactly that. Right now on the phone they just refunded my money and the woman said that she could see my correctly filled-out form but "did not know why it did not work and neither does my manager." Then AGAIN yesterday I tried to pay at a debit at a market and it would not take my PIN! When I tried to call the bank I learned that THEY HAVE NO AFTER-HOUR EMERGENCY NUMBER. In other words, you are screwed if you have an issue outside of Pacific time banking hours. And when I tried to call this afternoon to straighten it out I was on hold for 15 minutes! That is simply unacceptable. The person then told me that I had entered my PIN too many times and that I was locked out of the account. Until regular banking hours. Also, I went to deposit a large check a few month ago and they held it for what seemed forever. "We don't have the assets to cover that kind of money," I was told, so we have to wait for it to clear. Unlike the big banks which would have done it in a couple of days. So beware. Bottom line: if your banking needs are simple, they are nice and local. But don't expect high-end, 24-hour service - even when it is their own mistake. And if you have an issue - theirs or yours - after local banking hours, you are screwed. read more

The Credit Union is fine, investments sub-par. I made an appointment with this short balding guy to invest my money (OP partners with Raymond James, Inc. investors). He was a salesman in the worst sense of the word. In 30 minutes he managed to put down my lawyer, CPA, and intelligence on investments. He drew a dumb picture of my financial future and told me to call him next week. For some reason, I came back (maybe because I like banking here or I give people second chances), and got the same bad treatment. He lost my business at second five of our meeting. I pride myself with being surrounded by the top professionals in the industry as advisors and people looking out for my best interest. This guy won't be one of them because he fundamentally lacks expertise and fails to understand how to treat people. Avoid the investment side of this bank like the plague and take your business elsewhere if you want to keep it! (The one star earned is the rest of the bank and services, which is pretty good actually.) read more

I have been a member since mid 80s and financed countless cars with them. If you need money for a car, no problem. Here, have $25000, not questions asked. However, when it comes to home refinancing or line of credit, it is a different story. They just don't want to give their money away, at least in my experience. On two occasions they asked so many questions that I went with another bank. Why do they need to know what I need the money for?. If you want to buy a car, go with them. However, if you want to refy your home or get a line of credit, go somewhere else. read more

We've been with On Point now since 2009 this we had checking and savings accounts set up there but moved to Texas so unfortunately don't personal bank there but we continue to buy cars and get this financed through On Point. This is by far the best bank/credit union we've ever belonged to and will continue to give them business through car loans. read more

I've recently started using Onpoint. I got tried of Chases high fees. I've been very happy with them. Short lines. I love that stay open until 5:30pm M-Th and 6 on Friday, and their open on Saturdays. I LOVE THAT! The staff is generally knowledgable and friendly. Their online banking is pretty easy to use. No problems there. I have had some problems getting their app to work on my phone. Over all a nice place to bank. read more

This isn't about a specific branch, but about the way they changed their online banking. I primarily use this for bill paying. After a four-day shutdown in November, it seems all my bill pay history for the year is gone. As for paying new bills, the most recent payment info no longer shows up next to the payee. This is annoying if you have a long list of payees (6 utils, 4 credit cards; several non-monthlies), because there's no way of quickly verifying which have been paid without referring to another list that shows recent payments. In general, the new web site looks like it was designed by people with way less experience at this than those who designed the previous set up. When I called customer service to give my feedback. I got a lot of "Gee, it's a new system. New systems mean changes. We'll all have to adjust." No, some of us will check your competitors websites to find something more useful read more

This is a great bank. For years, I had my account at U.S. Bank. They were really great when they were a smaller bank. However, once they grew bigger customer service just went out the window. Onpoint's customer service is incredible. They are awesome at the branch or if I have to call on the phone. Having my account at Onpoint has been very convenient. read more

Kacie is a loan officer at this branch and she has been outstanding for my partner and I during our home refinance (2013) and our recent search for a rental property (2015). She provided approval letters and settling cost sheets for us as needed and was very helpful, explaining the process and costs to close. My experience with the lake Oswego branch recently proved that no one from teller,operation manager, up to assistant manger,Joshua, would rather argue with you and tell you what you can't do than help you in making a simple deposit of a large check on a recent sale of house.rather then help us he managed to just make me so miserable I'm taking all my money out of there. What happened to customer service? Making the customer happy and feel good about having their large amount of money in their bank? He proceeded to tell me that his teller did everything to accommodate me. I've spent a half day calling about this situation,and at 4:30 pm he calls me up c he does everything to make me feel worse. When asked if I could come over and close all my accounts, he said" I couldn't come over because his drawer wouldn't balance at 4:45 pm."And I asked if I could come tomorrow he said sure.I don't need this aggravation in my retired years... it's the principle of the situation. He started in telling me how he got sued from a customer that was depositing a joint check into a single account. I proceeded to tell him my sad stories,and guess what he could of cared less. My mother's trust was over there,till she passed ,so I gave them a chance with keeping my money in there. I'm sure she is turning over with this kind of treatment from them.
