Even told the owner she could contact the last hotel I stayed at to confirm no bed bug issues. Getting up the driveway after it snows is a joke especially when it hasn't been plowed at all and the owners had the nerve to ask me if the tires on my car were good. Yes they are good she said her husband would be back to plow before morning when Im just getting off work and lay some sand down and it never happend. Took me 3 tries to get up the hill because it hadn't been plowed.

Beds were also very comfortable as well. My only complaint - while it was nice to have A/C, it didn't work super well. I think the filter needed cleaning (this is an issue with so many hotels I've stayed at). Beyond that, everything was great. Very peaceful location as well - nice views from the front porch.

The second floor includes two bedrooms, a large family room, full kitchen and a deck. Very nice! The bathroom was large with a whirlpool for two. All of the furniture and decor was top notch. The beds are very nice Amish oak and the sheets were very high quality - smooooth. Everything was very comfortable! Outside the house we had a grill, swing, fire pit and lots of land to hike. Breakfast is not included in this suite but it was no problem making arrangements with Nora for a couple of mornings. We enjoyed talking with Pete, Nora and other guests - Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Georgia being represented this weekend. While relaxing at the Inn is no problem I would strongly recommend two side trips: 1) The Shrine to the Our Lady of Guadelupe in LaCrosse. It is a one hour drive and it is amazing! Check it out on Yelp. I put up some photos but they don't do it justice. 2). Pete and Nora had suggested two places to eat in the area. The pizza at the Country Gardens motel was darn good and the prices for pizza and the other menu items was darn reasonable. It's about 15 minutes away in Soldiers Grove. If you want 5 star food then you need to keep driving another 15 minutes to The Driftless Cafe in Viroqua. The Beef Tenderloin was Outstanding and the desserts (especially the carrot cake) were excellent too! Prices are a bit higher but well worth it for this very fresh and delicious meal! We heard from other guests that they went biking on the Sparta railroad trail and had a great time. Next time we'll bring our bikes.

We got to Dubuque, IA and started looking for hotels in 100 mile radius - EVERYTHING WAS BOOKED! So I started "Yelping" I saw this B&B had 5 stars and we know why ! It's immaculate! Gorgeous grounds, kept in perfect condition. We arrived late, and was warmly greeted by one of the owners, Pete. We all introduced ourselves and then made way to our cabin. It's a two bedroom adorable, good sized cabin. First bedroom has two twin beds, and the second bedroom has a queen bed, there is a large futon in the living room. Bathroom is good size with a stand up shower. The sweet cabin has a full size refrigerator and nice kitchen. It's very clean and well cared for. If you are in the area, don't pass this up!

From the outside, it more or less just looks like an old building. Inside, it's kind of like stepping back in time, to the days when folks built nice hotels with lots of cool architectural details and craftsmanship. But it's actually better than that, because modern amenities like air conditioning that works well are found in today's Winneshiek. Pro Tip - if your room is too warm, ask at the front desk for them to adjust the temperature. They can do a lot more from there than you can in your room, where you only have +/- 3 degrees of control.

While the room rates are moderate and competitive, the breakfast is five star. My wife and I have stayed in this hotel several times and never been disappointed. Ice cream from 7-8 is a nice treat on a hot day. Breakfast with fresh-made eggs is a good way to start the day. The room was quiet, perfectly clean & had all the basic amenities. The bed is not for short people. It was so high off the floor I couldn't easily sit on it. I had to dive on and then situate myself. And a couple things need attention...the night light didn't work + the windows were dirty/foggy so seeing outside was impossible. Be sure to ask for a ground floor room if hauling your luggage up the stairs is a challenge.
