Based on our visit here earlier today we can atest to the fact that these folks received a very…read morewell deserved award for the Best Burger in Iowa 2026! All three of us (the Mrs, my Aunt, and myself) ordered the Biertgarten Smashburgers and we split an order of the Cheese Curds. The burgers were two 4oz chuck/brisket patties, fried onion, American cheese, lettuce, pickles, and Smash Sauce served on a toasted brioche bun and is FANTASTIC! Have plenty of napkins at your disposal as the flavor oozes from this burger! The hand-cut fries are a great side and very good too (I had to add some salt to put them over the top)...the Cheese Curds made it a trifecta...they were outstanding as well, crispy coating and melt in your mouth cheesyness! The servers were very helpful and ready to help out at a moments notice. Dixie's Biertgarten Smashburger has moved on to my Top 5 Burgers I've Ever Had list... It was around 3 in the afternoon and the place was packed (casual atmosphere and some sports on the big screens) so you may have to wait for a seat...there is some outdoor seating but it was raining today but FYI....it's definitely worth the time so be patient!

Burger was very shareable and came with fries. Not sure it's the best in the state, but it was very good. Despite being busy, food came out quickly. Great selection of local craft beers on tap. Decorah has amazing beers. Special note that the staff was very friendly. This was a great bar and grill and I can totally see why it was crawling with guests. We will be back when in town again.

The quality and quantity was outstanding. Apparently Saturday night is the Prime Rib special and although I've not tried it, if this sandwich is any indication of the quality, I'll be back. I've been coming here for years; it's a wonderful bar/restaurant out in the sticks with an incredible view and atmosphere. The outside deck is a great place to gather with friends over a beer or old fashioned. The service is fast, friendly and efficient. My order was taken quickly and when the food came out it was piping hot. Good selection of beers included several quality non-alcoholic beers. I've had the pizza in the past and it's delicious. If you haven't come here to eat, you need to check this place out; you won't be disappointed. I highly recommend Norwegian Hollow Hideaway for food and/or drinks. It's a great ride in the UTV.

Our party tried a shaved beef sandwich, a Philly cheese steak sandwich, and a New England fish sandwich. All sandwiches were large, fresh, and full of flavor. Very nice to see. Our server was great, too. A+++

I wish they came in different sizes and were homemade crust. Otherwise, basic toppings, expensive add-ons, and not many specialty pizzas. Meh. The jukebox in the bar area is soooo loud. It does not "fit" the crowd of old people out trying to visit. They kept coming out to the dining area complaining it was too loud in the other room. Despite the staff's back and forth, we were not greeted or waited on for 20 minutes. We could hear them BSing in the back, but I think they forgot they were at work. We kept closing the door between the bar and dining room and the staff walking in between constantly left it open. The owners need to "read the room" and adjust the jukebox accordingly. We shouldn't have to YELL over dinner. I wear hearing aids and couldn't hear a thing! Food is inconsistent and owner-after being complimented that the food had improved since they opened only argued that it's the same food they had when they opened, which it is not. Shut up and take the compliment!

There was 2 of us, 2 eggs sausage links and toast for my friend and 2 eggs and hashbrowns for me. After 45 min we asked the waitress if she could check on our food. She said our order was next. We waited another 15 minutes. I went up to the bar and asked again. The daughter yelled across the restaurant, you saw how busy we were when you came in. My friend said we are just wondering because you are both out here talking and we've been here an hr. She then said, hashbrowns are made to order and they take a while. Our food finally came and the hashbrowns were so salty I could not eat them. The waitress was wonderful but the owner and her daughter need to work on their customer service!! We will never be back. It should never take over an hr for eggs and hashbrowns. Regardless if you make them from scratch. Yelling at customers like that is ridiculous. I understand if you are busy, but 4 orders? For breakfast? I'm all about supporting the local businesses but they lost me today for good.

Also, we couldn't resist sharing a piece of warm freshly made apple crisp! Our waitress was super friendly too. You don't find a lot of places like this nowadays. Outstanding!
