Absolutely beautiful store. This is of all the fish stores I've been too in Minnesota, this is my favorite. Not only is this store located in a very pretty and interesting building, it was very bright, open and full of fully landscaped aquariums with plants & fish everywhere. As soon as me and my friends walked in we were approached by an employee immediately. My friends went to look around and I asked a few questions. The employee gave me a lot of good answers as well as recommendations and items that might interest me in the store. The store is extremely well stocked, with items I've only been able to find online before. Me and my friends had a ton of fun looking at the tanks around the store and I good some great inspiration looking around. I got a few items including a snail trap (another item I've only seen online!) and the cashier was super friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the shop. The store below even had an enormous reef tank installed and maintained by the store employees. I love this place! You know how your kid bugs you for a fish tank and promises to take care of it only to lose interest as soon as the first pair of guppies dies? Well, that was me over 50 years ago except I never lost interest. I've been keeping fish and visiting fish stores around the country for my entire life. The people from World Of Fish who started RiverShore Aquariums have done a great job. Located not far from the original World of Fish, RiverShore has clean tanks, friendly and knowledgeable staff and they are super keyed in on planted tank setups. These days my tanks are relatively simple just to keep things easy, rocks and driftwood mostly, but I've been wanting to do a planted tank for a while. I know the basics but had some questions on substrate, plant selection and lighting for what is basically going to be a freshwater nanotank. The staff person who helped me was super knowledgeable, answered my questions and gave me some good advice for getting started. They had a good selection of different kinds of gravel as well as an assortment of driftwood and rocks. I liked that they have a table where you can do a little aquascaping trial and error before you make a final selection. The fish were high quality and appeared healthy. Most were smaller species suitable for planted tanks. I even discovered a new species that I had never heard of - anchor catfish. Super cool and perfect for my little nanotank. I know enough about fish and have been to enough fish stores to know which ones are really good. Rivershore is at the top of the list if you live in the Twin Cities, and especially if you're interested in giving planted tanks a try. Even if its plants aren't your thing or you are new to the hobby, I'd checkout Rivershore for your first aquarium. read more

This is such a fantastic fish store. You know that one friend whose house is always immaculately pristine, such that -- no matter how recently or how well you've cleaned your own house -- you always feel a little self-conscious & guilty when you visit theirs? Rivershore Aquariums is that friend: All the tanks are SO clean, and so perfectly lit, and all the fish are ready for their closeups. It's like an aquatic Parade of Homes in there -- 0% chance of the "Oh gosh, that fish looks so sick, should I mercy-buy it & set up a hospital tank & try to save it? Or should I not give this place my money?" experience. You should definitely give this place your money. They also sold me the sweetest, most industrious little pleco I've ever had in my life. I bought her as a bristlenose pleco, but she's secretly some kind of Turbo Pleco -- as in, my tank gets direct sunlight (can't be avoided), and it had the algae to match, but a week after I brought my new plec'ling home, I found myself asking a visitor, "Hey, you didn't clean the inside of the 55gal while you were here, did you?" (Spoiler: No, I do not have tank-cleaning houseguests. I just have a magic pleco.) read more

They have the worst hires at the front checkout! They clearly had no experience with handling customer dissatisfaction as I was hung up on over the phone just for asking questions about finding the right fish tank heater and I was not apologized to but instead bullied by 2 young female staff in the store! There was no manager to remedy the situation, only a more mature individual present who could understand that I was asking for very basic assistance that turned into a literal harassment situation with the most rude sales associates bothering me that I have ever encountered ANYWHERE! This shop is locally based so I wanted to support them but I will never be purchasing anything there! I had to find another store open later nearby to get what I needed to care for my fish. I have never written a Yelp review before so I hope that emphasizes how strongly I feel about this absolutely horrible service I was subjected to which was none at all. I received ridiculous accusations pointed at me as a customer by a couple of blatantly lying staff to cover for their own selves. Horrible! Absolutely horrible way to treat a person with a disability. I wouldn't even give them one star except that one mature adult was there to consult with. I will be contacting the owner. Unbelievable that any person would think they could treat a customer so poorly! Do not shop here. Don't bother calling with questions either or you'll be frustrated with their offensive lack of phone etiquette. My call back was subsequently ignored! If this were any major chain company these two individuals would be fired immediately. I don't know who handles personnel at this store but it's time they took a better approach to hiring. Meanwhile, I was trying to keep my new fish healthy in a safe temperature at home and panicked. Thanks for nothing but trouble from Rivershore Aquariums! Try to find any other place to go but this one! There aren't many specialty spots like this but that doesn't mean they deserve business if they can't do better!!!!! read more

Rivershore is a wonderful store! Their have healthy and high quality plants and livestock. The selection of rimless aquariums is one of the larger ones in the Twin Cities. Their dry goods are also well-curated and of high quality. The staff are friendly and will take the time to answer all questions and make helpful recommendations. Wow this store is so cool! I just stopped by because I was looking for something for a specific type of rock for a terrarium. If you're want to see some amazing terrariums and vivariums you should go here! It's so fun to walk around and see all of their displays! It's like an art gallery in there! They have some other not aquarium things like carnivorous plants, and terrarium plants! Prices seemed good on the plants (though Ive never had aquariums so can't comment on aquarium related things). Staff was super friendly and will help you out with anything and provide you info! Definitely very passionate about aquariums and care that you fall in love too! read more

This is an amazing store - exceptionally clean and extremely helpful staff. The selection of fish and plants is very impressive and ever- changing. Every time I come in, there's always something new to see. The atmosphere is bright and clean with several displays for inspiration including an aquascaping station. Fantastic display of planted tanks and supplies that are difficult to find locally and I don't like shopping on line. Could not find UNS tanks and stands and Derek has them along with UNS substrate and other necessary hardscape items and plants. Also, a great selection of lights, filters and very cool nano fish and food. Customer service is top-rate, always time to help and great advice. I highly recommend Rivershore (and I've been around Toots). read more
