Riverside is an awesome establishment. I met Dr. M Koan while she was at another clinic. Her patience, knowledge and Professionalism is and was outstanding. Her practice in Flushing is based on her wonderful view of life. I have taken my two Golden Retrievers there for several years now. She and her staff, take the time to answer questions and accommodate our needs. Staff are friendly and always patient. They know us by name and are willing to manage prescriptions and services with patience and flexibility. I trust them implicitly. One of touching parts is how the Dr Koan and staff see the dogs personality. The 'patient' is not just a dog. She has a soul and personality that is respected. Before Riverside, I only had to drive 15 minutes for my dog's care. I willingly drive 45 minutes to be with these wonderful caring professionals. I highly recommend Riverside clinic, Dr Koan, Support staff and newly added DVM's. read more

The entire staff at Riverside once again were awesome and went out of their way to help us with a trap/neuter/replace (TNR) undertaking. This required a lot of flexibility regarding timing of drop offs and pick ups. Our barn cats are now spoiled thanks to the extra attention Katie and everyone gave them. Whenever we have had emergency situations during their business hours, they have been very accommodating. They are patient, friendly and answer all questions for our routine visits. Due to the incompetent misdiagnosis of my darling dog, Bella continued to be in pain. A simple ear infection developed into a full body infection. She wanted so much to be close and be comforted but she couldn't handle the pain and she finally had to die. read more

On 10/2/21 at 10:30am, I took my cat that had been hit by a car in and the receptionist told me they had taken their last patient for the day and wouldn't even look at the poor cat. To let an animal suffer like that, they are horrible human beings. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

We have an old dog whom we cherish and know that we are in her "Golden Years." Riverside Animal Hospital has gone through some huge changes and I just wanted to give my 2 cents on how I feel about that. We saw Doctor Farrar yesterday and are trying to control my ol grils pain.She was very professional and took her time with us. Very unpleasant experience with them. My wife and I got back from our honeymoon and noticed our pup had very bad ear mites , or a very bad ear infection. Her ears were very scabby and puss inside of her ears. We made an appointment with our vet, but they were not able to get her in for a week. So it was Saturday and a small handful of animal hospitals were open. We knew we couldn't stand to see our dog this miserable so I called around. At 8:45 am I called riverside, they told me they are filling up so they are going to stop seeing new patients by 10. So we hurried there made it there by 9:30. I called at the curbside spot right out there door like it said to. They put me on hold for 15 minutes, I finally just went in there and told them the circumstance. When I walk in two girls at the front counter laughing and chatting together like they didn't just have me on hold for 15, trying to tell them I'm out there with my dog. They told me they can't see our dog they aren't seeing no more walk ins. Although 45 minutes ago before I left they said they would see our dog if we made it before 10.. when telling them that, they just kept asking well who said that because that's not true. I didn't catch a name over the phone but I KNOW they said they were seeing new patients until 10. So we had to go somewhere else and luckily we found one other place to treat our dog... it's a little messed up to lie to your clients about seeing there dog. Not to mention I wouldn't have wasted a half tank of gas to get there if I knew they weren't going to see our dog in the first place with gas being above $5 a gallon! Very unpleasant experience with this place. Don't lie to your patients, and don't sit there put me on hold and ignore me when I could have been finding another place for my pup to get looked at. I would never recommend them to anyone. There customer service was terrible and can't even be truthful with their customers about if they can see there pet or not. read more

Yes, today I waited 3.5 hours to get my dog in. .....and then I seen the "Paws to Remember " van leaving the parking lot. It could be worse , than just waiting. Sorry for the family that put their pet down. They have lovely staff here, my dog hates going...they put up with her nicely. 3.5 hour wait isn't looking so bad right now. read more

I used to love this place. Dr.'s were awesome, price was right and wait time was reasonable. Now Dr. Koan is hardly ever there. The wait times are terrible (at lest 2 hours or more) and now, for the kicker, they refuse to send Chewy my prescriptions!! They told me I could order the products from them (Riverside). Yeah, I don't want to do that. Switching vets ASAP. read more

I am highly disappointed that holiday hours were only clearly marked on their Facebook page. No indication of a change in hours on their phone line, nor was there any physical indicator at their office, nor a posting on their door. Extremely frustrating. Additionally, there were recommendations posted on their Facebook page with only phone numbers - no addresses. Dr. Greg Brown would never have allowed this. read more

At the end of last year, I was told by the woman who brought my cat out to my vehicle, after I had to have him euthanized, and after they opened him up for a blockage and found masses everywhere instead, that I would be getting the $500. deposit I put down, back. (My 31 yr old son was with me and a witness to the conversation.) I was devastated at losing my cat, so when she asked if I wanted the money back on my card or on account, I was too upset to decide anything and she said I could decide later. I checked and It was not put back on my card so I assumed (shame on me) they put it on my account. I was also told by the Dr. at the time. that if they had done other testing beforehand, they wouldn't have opened him up because they would have known by the bloodwork it was cancer and not a blockage. I was told today that there was indeed bloodwork and x-rays done beforehand according to their records, so then why did they go ahead with it? I was also told that my acct had like $76. in it and she asked me if I wanted the money... and that I was "misinformed" as to getting my deposit back. Before this conversation today, I was bringing my other cat in to have her yearly bloodwork done and they had no time for me today. Lying to me doesn't make me trust them. I'll be going elsewhere for my pet care. read more

River side is amazing, our dog Chloe got very sick suddenly, we took her in Friday evening, not long before they were to close. They decided to stay longer and perform emergency surgery on her vs. waiting until the next morning. I am so grateful beyond words. read more

They are a good vet but they take forever since Covid. Their phones busy all the time. Told to come up only about 25 minutes 55 minutes later still waiting for them to see the dog. Need Doctor Brown back! read more

Riverside is definitely one of the best animal hospitals around. I really like that there is more than one doctor available, and they are all so nice. They have a really great bedside manner and always make you feel like you and your pet are special and important. They have always helped me and my various pet needs. read more

Loved Dr. Brown, saddened by his passing. I understand this is a walk in clinic, but a 2+ hour wait is excessive when there is only 2 patients in the clinic. This isn't the first time this has happened. Finding a new Veterinarian. RIP Dr. Brown, you were the best! read more

I love Riverside. Their top priority is the animals that they see. My dog was very sick and we were there every day for a week. They always explained everything to me and answered all the stupid question that I had. When I cried because we didn't know if he would make it they were very compassionate with me. Both Dr Brown and Dr Koan are very knowledgeable and will admit when they don't know the answer but will consult with specialists at MSU to make sure that they do what is best for your pet. I am so glad I brought my baby here or he may not be here today. read more

Riverside used to be the best place to take your pet; this is no longer true. The average waiting time is over two hours, the last time I waited for three hours. This is no longer an unusual occurrence, this has happened the last four times. Everyone in Flushing seems to be aware of this, it is the topic of much consternation. I went to another vet and they also were aware of the complaints. Dr. Brown talks about everything other than your pet; Dr. Koan is no longer there full time and Dr. Florida takes three hours to make a diagnosis . If you don't have half a day for a visit, go elsewhere. read more
