I was scheduled for a telephone appointment on Wednesday, 24 June 2026 at 0800hrs. Before the appointment, I reviewed the information behind the appointment and didn't find any specifics on how the telephone interview would happen (Should I call them? Will they call me?). At approximately 0804hrs, my VA representative hadn't called me yet, so I went to the Temecula VA webpage and tried to use their chat feature for further instructions. When I entered my question, the chat bot gave me an error message reading, "Your login session has expired. Please login again." When I hit "refresh," my entire question disappeared. I got same result several times. So that was a dead end. By the time I returned to my phone, I noticed my VA rep called and left a voicemail. The VA rep left a phone number where I could call back. I did which led me to an automated message tree saying to press a "number to reach....." I pressed various options that made sense....and then all options. All came back with an error message saying employees were dealing with a high volume of calls and told me to call back later. My appointment was 45 minutes in duration. How much later could I call back? The voicemail also said the VA rep would call me back in about 15 minutes (at about 0820). I waited until 0845 and never received a call back. Two hours later or so, I got an email asking me to fill out a survey about my experience. I clicked the link to take the survey and I got an error message which read, "404 We can't find that form." Another dead end. In summary, I called requesting help filling out a High Level Review form. It's pretty straight forward, but I just wanted some help ensuring I was doing everything correctly. One wrong entry and I get denied again, right? Not a good day for customer service at the VA. read more

I spoke with Jason Gonzalez through email, he suggested I make an appointment to bring my father's documents. Our appointment was with Matt. He did not even try to pretend he cared. At one point, instead of letting us know it was the end of the appointment, he just began typing on his computer so we sat there thinking he was checking something and he finally looked up and said "any more questions?" We brought all this documentation and he didn't even ask to look at them or anything. After the appointment, I called the VA and the national PACT act line and they actually assisted me and told me what we needed to do. I don't think Matt wanted to deal with the paperwork. read more

I went to this office prepared to spend half my morning to claim my father's death benefits, but, luckily, I got an amazing representative in Jason Gonzalez. He was extremely helpful in educating me on which forms to submit, (I had filled them ALL out before arriving), explained how to decipher all the "numbers" on his DD-214, then quickly scanned all my completed documents in a flash. He even explained what to expect as far as getting a response back and a decision on my survivor's claims. I was there for less than an hour! It's been a week, and I already got a response. I have always done a walk in visit. The wait was never really long and the representative has been amazingly helpful. My claim was started on the 2nd visit and I've been given everything I need to get the additional statements. All papers have been signed for the VA to get my records. They're not very clear on what documents to bring to the appointment. They'll waste your time. The receptionist was going over what I needed and asked me, "You probably have those documents on your VA app, right?" Implying what is on the app or digital copies would suffice. Then I say there for 30-40 minutes waiting to get called back and when I walk into the representatives office he immediately ask for physical copies and says he can't help me without them. There is a printer sitting right behind him, mind you. Make sure you get it in writing EXACTLY what they need or else they will just refuse to help you. read more

I've been dealing with an ongoing disability case with and for my dad for almost a year now. The entire process has been very confusing, difficult and frustrating.
