The front office receptionist…read moreinformed me that my account was deactivated, the system was down, preventing reactivation, and there were no available appointments for two months. When I inquired why my account was deactivated, she stated it was because I was upset about the cost of fillings and had said I wouldn't return. This is not accurate. During my first visit, I received a full-mouth X-ray and a teeth cleaning from a dentist (not Dr. Avanzato). The dentist reviewed the X-rays, said everything looked good, and recommended a return visit in six months. Before leaving the exam room, I asked about fillings to address a gap in my upper teeth due to receding gums. The dentist directed me to the front desk, where I received a quote that seemed exorbitant. I mentioned that my previous dentist had billed my insurance plan and co-pay for significantly less and indicated I wouldn't get the work done there. The receptionist was not present during my consultation with the dentist. Despite my corrections, the receptionist continued to claim I had refused treatment. I ended the conversation because it was unproductive. After this, I decided not to return to the practice and went to retrieve my dental records. The receptionist claimed she had already emailed a copy of my records and mailed a letter on the same day of my service. I never received either. She again insisted I needed two fillings, which I hadn't requested. I asked her to just send me the records. Later that day, I received an email with a copy of my X-rays and a note that a duplicate letter had been mailed. Two days later, I received a letter, dated the day of my service, stating that I would be better served by seeking another dentist due to a breakdown in the doctor-patient relationship. I had already decided to seek another dentist, but this situation makes me question who makes decisions at this practice, the dentist or the receptionist, who seemed to be providing misleading and inaccurate information.

I reached out for an initial visit and spoke with by far the rudest and most arrogant receptionist I have ever encountered. Not only did she talk down to me the entire time, she argued with every little statement or response I made, and refused to be cooperative in any meaningful way. She liked to add, "I've been in this business a long time" with every response she made. I have never been so disgusted and offended by a medical secretary in my life. The perpetual condescending tone, the offensive quips and jabs at my "knowledge of dentistry," and non-stop sighing are a new low for me. Over a month ago, I went in for a maintenance visit and a crown had broken. She explained that she would submit the claim to my insurance and, based on coverage, either repair it or refer me elsewhere. She also took X-rays and an impression for a bite guard. Since that appointment, I've called several times and have not received a single return call. (On one occasion I managed to speak with Ed her husband/office manager but still no callback) Its extremely disappointing to be ignored after so many years as a patient. If the problem was that my insurance didn't pay enough, that should have been discussed honestly--not avoided. What's worse is that X-rays and other services were billed to my insurance, yet there has been no communication, plan, or care provided. I expected better treatment and respect from a practice I trusted for so long. I'll be taking my care elsewhere.

I had the root canal done by an endodontist in July and then it took months for her to finally get back to me and booked an appt for late Sept. When I arrived at the office, she had an elderly man as her reception who is actually her husband tell me that I had to pay out of pocket $1050, or she cannot see me. My insurance requires no copayment as she is a in network provider with my insurance co. I told him I want a copy of the bill at that time I seen she billed and was paid for service that I did not receive. I contacted my ins co and filed a grievance against her. I have also read on google, Healthgrades and other sights of other patients with similar bogus experiences with her. I wish I would have read her ratings before going to her. If you have experienced her scam, please contact your insurance co, don't let her continue to get away with billing for service she hasn't rendered or over charging.
