I was just trying to have a good time playing golf with my friends and I was harassed for most of my round by the course marshal. He threatened us multiple times and we did nothing but play well paced golf and have fun. He also kicked us off the course before the sun went down. I felt borderline disrespected and most likely will not be playing this course again. read more

If I could give no stars I would. The owner and I believe his wife were rude to our entire group from the moment we checked in. Thought maybe she was just having a bad day but turned out the owner was just as bad. Will never give them another dime. I've played a lot of course over the years, but I've never encountered one with an owner as rude as this one. When a friend had to cancel last minute, I was met with a snide comment of "That's going to cost us a lot of money" then, instead of handling it with basic courtesy, he tried to pair me with three other people who I didn't know. When I let them go, and played myself (there was no one waiting behind me to tee off), he literally whistled at me like I was a dog, and talk to me with complete disrespect. This is gonna be behavior is completely unacceptable for any business, let alone, one who relies on people who CHOOSE to pick them and spend their money there. Played this course for the first time today, wasn't expecting to be wowed & wasnt. Course is flat & open really nothing creative about it which is fine. Fairways aren't really fairways just the same length grass pretty much around the course. You can't get a tee in the ground in most tee boxes. Course was packed & somewhat backed up. My biggest issue with this course would be its safety, more than 2 times you take the cart path in front of tee boxes for other holes must pay attention to this, and the intersection of hole 17, 18, 10, & 7 is the most illogical set up I've ever seen. Very easy to be hit by a ball in this area. Overall I shot an all time low here today and without nit picking it's decent I'd play again but in no rush to do so. read more

You have to wait a minimum of 15 minutes to tee off at each hole because they overbook. No matter your skill set, it should never take you 6 hours to finish 18 holes. I'm currently behind a 6-some waiting to tee off on hole 4 and my tee time was an hour and a half ago--extremely poor tee time management by the clubhouse and the worst tee box conditions I've ever seen (all dirt and impossible to even put a tee in the ground)...1 star for the greens being in decent condition read more

I'd first like to say I'm no pro. So i don't expect perfect conditions or greens. But i will say i expect something nice to play on.... Especially when they are priced very high compared to much nicer golf courses around the area. The greens are OK. Probably the best part of the course. With that being said, they aren't great and could use some care. The fairways are AWFUL. Mostly hard dirt or mud. Never an in-between. They will charge you an outrageous price, and then tell you that the greens are being worked on and there's clumps all around it. It's happened to me a few times. I have no issue paying $35 a round, but not when the course is as bad as it is. read more

Note: This review is specifically for the 9 Hole Par 3 course. I've only played the par 3 and to be honest, it wasn't bad. The course conditions are WAY better than family golf nearby, but also less challenging which can be both good and bad depending on your skill level. I do like that the course is walk-on / no reservation but this also means that any day with decent weather this par 3 course is packed. I've found myself waiting numerous times behind groups of 4 or more when I'm playing solo or with one other person. I understand that naturally I'll be moving faster than these groups but when the next 3 holes ahead ALL have large groups and this course takes nearly 3 hours to complete as opposed to 1, it gets frustrating. Is there a way to limit the group size or space them out a bit more while still maintaining the convenience of no reservation? I don't know, but when a quick par 3 course on the way home from work turns into an entire evening, it makes me question how convenient it really is. Only other gripe is how easily stray balls from the main course end up on this one. Especially holes 1,2, and 4. Every time I play here someone is running or driving across these fairways to grab their ball. It's not really the courses fault that these players can't hit straight, but it is frustrating, and I feel worth mentioning. Finally there are a few staff members here that are less than friendly. Definitely not everyone, as I can recall a few times I encountered a gentleman who was both running the bar and the payment area in the evening and he was incredibly nice and overall spectacular. We couldn't tip him however as another reviewer mentioned, but when he has not been there, my experience at payment is usually less than satisfactory. Poor attitude, sleeping at the register and I have to knock on the glass to wake them up, not realizing I'm standing there while they are counting the drawer or staring off into space, are all things I have encountered here. I realize good help is hard to find, but is it too much to ask your staff to be friendly and pay attention to their surroundings? Also I think they could really benefit from having someone bring the drink cart by on the hot days. Yes, even on the par 3 course. I assume they do this for the main course (???) but why not show the par 3 groups some love too. There is a huge sign that no are coolers allowed and "all drinks must be purchased from the clubhouse," but what are you going to do when your halfway through what should be an hour game but stuck between groups and that thirst hits you? You can't just bail and walk back to the clubhouse mid game. You guys are missing out on sales here... Not to mention that seeing that sign AFTER you've paid and are walking with your gear to tee off feels like you're giving the person that just paid and is patronizing you a big middle finger. Look, I'm too lazy to carry a cooler anyway and I feel like its common sense / course etiquette to purchase your drinks other than maybe water from the clubhouse, but if someone actually came by to check my bag to see if I was for example "sneaking" a half empty bottle of Gatorade in, when there isn't even an opportunity to purchase a drink once you start, I can guarantee you it would be the last time I ever patronized this place. I respect the rules, but common sense guys, if you want the sales on snacks and drinks, make them available! You shouldn't be doing anything that is going to make it harder or more inconvenient for your customers to spend money with you. Bottom line.. If you're looking to squeeze a little golf into your weekly routine but don't have time to play a full size course, you don't want to pay an arm and a leg for drinks (although I feel the snacks ARE overpriced), you don't mind getting some putting or chipping practice in while you wait for the group in front of you, and you want a course that is in better shape than the nearby Family Golf in VP, this is a good choice. The convenience factor of no reservation is nice, and if you get lucky enough to encounter a staff member that is actually friendly, it makes the whole experience that much better. To the management: You guys could EASILY be the best par 3 in St. Louis and the surrounding area if you tweaked a few things.... Have an attitude tune up meeting with the staff, get a system together for either limiting or spacing out the larger groups, show a bit more love to the grass at the tee boxes, move the drink / cooler sign up to the payment area, and get the drink cart out on the par 3 at least once an hour. Accomplish this and I guarantee the business will grow. These fixes are of minimal cost to you, will maximize profits, and what should be even more important to you, customer satisfaction. The par 3 course is already an 8/10, it's just the other stuff that needs a little work. read more

Man, this place is miserable. I went in mid-April, so I wasn't expecting perfectly green fairways, smooth greens and level tee boxes. The fairways were mostly dirt, the tee boxes were all dirt, and the greens were actually pretty decent (only reason for the 2nd star). I realize this place is cheap and I shouldn't expect much, but I do expect grass to hit an iron off of if I'm in the middle of the fairway. $25 for a round with a cart, but not even worth it if it was free. Use to golf here 2/3 times a week. First issue came when one member of management gave me a price for a club then another member of management changed the price. You have to pay for a ride along regardless of age "which only the old man enforces" tee boxes are hard as concrete fairways are poor, course design in general and cart paths are terrible. read more

The course has improved since I was here last time I was here. The new club house is nice, but the poor bartender can't make any tips. They charge a dollar for credit/debit card transactions, but there is not a place on the receipt to add a tip. Isn't this an easy fix? She was super nice despite this frustration. She only made $7 in tips last time she worked a full shift .I hope they fix this for their employees, not many people pay with cash nowadays . read more

Hands down the worst experience I've ever had not just at a golf course just worst customer experience ever. Had 5 guys booked 2 tee times and as we pulled up to hole 1 the "Marshall" asked how many we had and started yelling at us that we couldn't play 5. Kept yelling then when we got a word in we told him we had 2 tee times and 2 guys were going then the remaining 3. He then apologized several times. Then since it was only 5 we decided to play a scramble to make it go quicker cause it was a holiday and we aren't good. 4 hole he comes flying up on the green in a cart screaming and cussing that if he catches us playing together again we were f-ing out of there. So not only did we have to split which is ok but we cause a backup even more because we played every ball. Also the staff working the concession was ever so rude. "What you want?" And you only bought 2 beers so you can only have 1 scope of ice. We still had beer left from when we first started. Sorry we are running low. We all bought beers, burgers, brats, etc. And this is how we were treated. This is a cheap cheap a local course but will never return and will let everyone know my experience. Plus paid $36 dollars cause it was a holiday for a course that is normally $20 which is high. The tee box is not recognizable from the grass and the even the 18th green right by the club house is full of leaves. I mean at least could blow the 18th clean. read more

Terrible experience. We had 5 for a 40th bday outing and we booked a tee time and paid. Upon picking up our carts we would not be allowed to to play 5 that we had to play 3 and that two would be put with another two. Claiming that being book full would not allow us to play. Why allow us to book it and pay then? Tried to play together later on the course when groups were spread out, the game up and threatened to make us leave if we didn't play separately. They cram as many people as possible on the course. If you are going for a leisurely Sunday, don't bother! Way too many people for the short course and make sure you have a 4 some when you go, otherwise you're getting grouped up. Fairways aren't much different than the rough. For the price, I like playing here. Defiantly not the best or toughest course in St. Louis, but Nobody is too stuck up and it is a pretty open course. Don't waste your time and money here. The fairways are trash and the rough is mostly weeds. There is a good chance you will find yourself waiting on every shot due to the proximity of tee times. The staff's incompetence is the worst part about this golf club, however. Workers drive around the course and confiscate coolers from golfers if they do not contain beverages purchased from the clubhouse. Even if you have a cooler full of water bottles in your cart to stay hydrated, these knuckleheads will take it away, claiming that is hurts their business. Maybe if Riverside cared about customer service and course management a little more, it would find itself as a decent public course in St. Louis. As always, the phrase "you get what you pay for" comes in to play at Riverside. read more

I went to this golf course after experiencing some courses in the St. Louis Missouri. I will not lie to you, but there are better courses out there for example FOREST PARK. The customer service was awful, doesn't matter who you are the people deserve some sort of respect. I also do agree with the other posts about the redneck feel. Also they are so restrictive, you are only allowed one water bottle per person on the course. Its 90 degrees in the summer, I go through 3 bottles an hour. After finding out they wouldn't allow coolers, we asked for a refund and they had a attitude for no reason. I have been to better golf courses than this place, where the terrain is better, for $25 you can play at a better golf courses in St. Louis. After the rude remarks the man had made, I will not being going to this establishment every, nor will I allow anyone else thats friend and family. read more

After my last experience at Riverside Golf Club, I will just share with you the message I sent through their Facebook to the owner. Still to this day, I have had no response from anyone associated with this golf course. "Dear Mr. Wolfner, I have put a lot of time whether or not to send you this message about an experience I had at your golf course the other day. So I'll just start from the beginning. My father, M*** R*****, 52 years old is a disabled United States Marine Veteran, honorably discharged in 70's. My father suffered a severe stroke in his late teens, leaving him with permanent brain damage, effecting simple tasks and motor skills such as walking, balancing, and speech. Not to noticeable sometimes due to the fact he has lived with this disability most of his life. My father and I enjoy playing golf for one simple reason we are both equally horrible at it but its a chance for us to catch up and compete against each other. Since late June him and I have played your course almost once a week sometimes up to three times in one week. We purchase items from the pro shop and concession stand on each visit. I have the punch card to prove it and my bank account reflects the nearly $500 him and I have spent there in that little amount of time. On August 12, 2015 we planned on playing at 3:45PM, I was running late so my father arrived before me and went inside the pro shop and asked "Ralph" it was ok to use the putting green since they had been under construction and Ralph stated "yes there open." So he went outside and putted around, then came back inside and purchased a candy bar, soda and a sports drink for me and went outside to the deck. I arrived around 3:00pm and met my father on the deck. We both went inside where we both came in contact with Ralph. We started to pay, me first, when Ralph looked at me and stated " make sure you don't let him drive" me figuring he was joking about it, us just being father and son I said something along the lines of oh don't worry I handle that. Again Ralph made a comment about my father not being able to drive the golf cart and I noticed this wasn't a joke. He looked at my father and said " you seem to be a little out of it" and then looked at me and ask if I thought he was able to drive which I stated yeah, I don't see why not? Again Ralph made a comment about my father driving. My father embarrassed, because this was not only being said in front of me but other adults in the pro shop. My father told Ralph, "sir, you don't even know me." Ralph stated, these are my carts and I'm responsible for them. That's when I cut in and said I'll drive and we walked out. After that the golf outing was no longer enjoyable. My dad sat quite next to me in the cart as I drove all nine holes. Nothing more was said about our experience, but I could tell he was embarrassed and frustrated. He was simply judged for being "slow" or not as quick as other customers Ralph may come in contact with throughout his shift. While driving home I thought of 10 different ways Ralph could have handled that situation in side the pro shop. Maybe being an adult for one and pulling my father to the side and asking him if something was wrong or asked me. But to judge him and then call him out in front of me, and other customers is totally out of line and uncalled for. In summary and this will probably have little to no effect, but I will no long play your course, I will tell my friends and family not to play there until my father receives a verbal or written apology from Ralph about how he treated him. I hope this message reaches you and I look forward to hearing back from you so him and I can return to Riverside." read more

I have went here for years but today was in shock by the customer service. At our tee time we were asked twice if we would like to join other players, we politely declined twice. A few holes in a guy named Walter (apparently the owner) drove up and asked us to speed it up. He said this in a very harsh and frustrated tone. I let him know if I were to tee off now I could hit the group in front of me who were not even half way down the fairway. He stated "no offense but I doubt you will do that" I was very offended by this statement. I may be female and blonde but I graduated with a 4.0 and am athletically inclined. I went ahead to tee off only to have the ball literally hit 2 feet behind the other groups cart and having them give me a look like I was crazy. I had to explain myself and luckily the group laughed it off. From that point on we were racing through the holes only to wait for two groups to tee off before us. It was not relaxing at all. If there is an issue with too many players spread apart the tee times or don't overbook. Finally do not descriminate against your customers and make rude comments about your ideas of what their playing abilities may be. Very very offended and dissatisfied. read more
