I took a deer there to have processed. I left the deer there in a cooler on wheels and a handle. They called and said it was ready for pickup. I arrived and paid for the processing and a young lady retrieved the cardboard box with my deer and I asked about my cooler. She then located the cooler and as I began to transfer the packages to the cooler I noticed that the handle was missing. So, I ended up paying for the processing and the destruction of a perfectly good cooler. Next year I will purchase a meat grinder and do my own processing. I had a terrible experience here. My car was towed even though I was parked over 30 feet away from the trailer -- in the grass, not blocking anything. When I had arrived, the caution tape had been moved, and the VISIBLE "no parking" signs were to the right of the drive. I literally had to ask the front desk where the "no parking" sign was. The attendant told me it was on a light pole at least 15 ft up. When we tried to talk to the owner, he claimed I was blocking his trailer, which was clearly not true based on the tow company's pictures. Even the tow company had reservations on towing my car. This felt completely unfair and unnecessary. If parking is such a concern, the signage should be clearly visible and the area properly marked. Instead, I was stuck with an expensive tow and zero accountability from the "upstanding" community leader Rick Bellinger and Riverside Grocery. Be cautious if you visit the Saline River entrance -- it seems he'd rather tow than communicate. It's astonishing how quick the owner is to hide behind a tow truck rather than handle a situation like a professional -- or a human being. Rick- let me be perfectly clear: your lack of communication, your inability to handle conflict maturely, and your disregard for basic respect toward others is shameful. This wasn't just an inconvenience -- it was an insult. You cost me time, money, and peace of mind, all over what could have been resolved with a conversation. read more

We hired them for our daughter's wedding that took place October 29th. We ordered the BBQ for her wedding. The venue was three hours away, but they gladly catered the event. The food was delicious. All the guests were happy especially with the pulled pork. The caterer Stephanie was absolutely fantastic. She was extremely helpful and kind. She was constantly checking on my family and I making sure we were good and if we needed anything. She was fantastic with our autistic grandson. She even tried helping us when the pastor was late. I cannot recommend this company enough!! Besides fantastic food they have impeccable customer service! For any future event I will for sure book them. I only wish she would have accepted the tip we offered. She so deserved every bit of it! They are just wonderfully good people who make exceptionally good food! read more

Ate at their food truck and was not overwhelmed. I did not try the catfish so maybe it is the saving grace I was missing but the burger was not a good flavor. Chili cheese fries were just ok- the chili, to me, is too sweet. The burger just tasted off- can't put my finger on it but it seemed the seasoning was not right- like maybe it was a chicken seasoning on beef. The price is not bad and the sizes are good. Riverside is A community stable for the outskirts of Benton near the Saline River. This establishment is essential for providing goods and services to the community. I love that this location has been open and making life better for decades. You can purchase gas that won't hurt your car, get your wild game processed and buy convenience items like sodas and snacks. However, riverside grocery is not place for high-quality hygiene: I was severely turned off the last time I've visited the store has the ladies behind the food counter we're serving with no gloves and only some head even hairnet. I was also sadly disappointed when I attempted to work from the patio but could not connect with the Wi-Fi the people were not super friendly, helpful or even sympathetic to that matter. I ended up going to my car and taking a phone call, while using my hotspot to power my computer for the essential meetings I tried to join more comfortably. Again, if I had no choice but to stop in for a meal, I would but given almost any other option, I choose the other despite how tempting fried catfish, hush puppies and coleslaw seems for a laid-back southern country Friday evening. read more

We used Riverside catfish for Catering a wedding. They came highly recommended by another catfish house that closes on Sundays. Rick Said YES, even though it was a Sunday afternoon and only 25 guest on Petit Jean Mountain. Not only was the food cooked on site and so fresh and DELICIOUS, but also very covid careful and took care of everything from set up to clean up. Even left everything that wasn't consumed with to go boxes that was very appreciated by guest. woohoo catfish for lunch too. Catfish is Perfect and Hand breaded light and crispy seasoned perfect.. I cant really get this place a star since I did not have food from here. I had heard from others that the catfish was great and as a connoisseur of catfish I wanted to try this place out. The restaurant is in what looks like a country convenience store. I had a coupon from a local mailer for a buy one platter and get one 1/2 off. I gave the coupon to the lady behind the counter and she looked at it as if she had never seen it before. She said "oh this is only good on Fridays" I took a closer look at the coupon and nowhere did it say that at all. Ok fine! I still decided to order the 2 pc catfish and mashed potatoes. As she scooped the potatoes it was obvious that they had been in the container for hours as they had a very dry crust on the top. Looking around all of the other veggies did too. I said I would pass and decided to leave. I drove a few miles out of the way to go there and don't really see myself going back. If you put out a coupon you need to honor it. read more

When I eat catfish, I compare it to Riverside Grocery. I am a "born and raised in Saline County" boy and was actually baptized right behind the store. This is more than catfish dinners, it is the heart of the community that surounds this store and we are proud to say the best catfish dinner is served every friday night at a little gas station off the Old Hot Springs. This is where the old men gather every morning and drink coffee and where you see your friends and neighbors. Hopefully I've painted an atmosphere for you... now down to the catfish. This is their signature dish and they are masters at the craft of frying. The fish is that perfect golden color with a crisp texture perfectly cooked every time. The sides are brown beans, or BBQ beans, golden corn on the cob or sweet and crunchy slaw. You get your pick of jalapeño hush puppies or regular (I suggest the jalapeño with that sweet corn and the spice of the fresh jalapeños is to die for) with fried southern skillet potatoes. These aren't french fries, instead they are thinly sliced pan fried golden brown potatoes like the ones Grandma use to make. All of this with the garnish of purple onions, lemons, and my favorite green tomato relish. Only in the south will you find this sweet pickled tomato treat and if you haven't ever tried it, you must. This is the place to be on a Friday night . It is off the Interstate quite a few miles from town but the drive is worth it, trust me. Delicious Catfish & Fried Potatoes!! Catfish on Fridays only. Long lines, big crowd and certainly not cheap, BUT probably the best fried catfish you will ever eat. The fried potatoes (julienned and mixed with onions) are fantastic, if they are served piping hot. Lukewarm they are still good. But the fish - awesome!! Staff is friendly. Serve yourself drinks. Bring lots of money if you want to eat lots of fish. Entree comes with two sides; I opted for double fried potatoes, because the green beans are sweet (some Southern cooks just can't resist putting sugar in green beans and cornbread - yuck). This is a grocery store/gas station. Just park, walk inside, turn to the RIGHT past the front register, keep walking until you get to the end of the line (passing the soda/beverage display then you will get to the food counter). Tell the person how many pieces of catfish you want and choose your sides. You will be handed a ticket and your food. Help yourself to green tomato relish and beverages, sit down at an empty table somewhere in the store, eat and enjoy. Pay at the front register when you leave.
