Ended up hanging out for a while with some intriguing (safe) characters. The crowd is looking to get drunk, and that's not a bad thing. Another surprise was some decent grub. I would like to respond to this post, I too was at the bistro New Year's Eve and was sitting right next to you, I overheard you talking amongst yourselves about the complaints all I have to say is that had you told the server there was a problem THEN it would have been taken care of , your server was there several times asking if things were alright and I didn't hear anyone complain at all go figure u complain to the bus boy at the time your plates were being cleared... Sounds like you were waiting to get a comped meal or whatever, yes the bistro was Extremely busy that night and plenty staffed with the nicest servers by the way so any normal human being would take into consideration that it might take a moment or two for your food to be delivered to the table, especially on this busy new years eve and as for michael the owner, never have I met an owner who cares so much about his customers satisfaction, I remember hearing about a complaint on a dry steak and the potatoes weren't as expected but lemme tell you, my potatoes were amazing with chunks of fresh potato in it, definately didnt compare to potato buds out of a box and I frequent the bistro on a weekly basis never have I had a problem of major magnitude and if I had an issue it was addressed immediately. Great Local dive bar. What makes it stand out is the food. Not very often do you get tasty food at a dive. I recommend Mrs. J's chicken salad when it's available. Bartenders are great, fast service and very friendly. I can go by myself and feel comfortable. The crowd is mixed from early twenties to 50 and over depending on time of day. It's gets packed on the weekends and rightfully so because everyone wants to hang out there. This has easily become a favorite spot of mine! read more

Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. Especially if you are not wealthy and white. I have first-hand witnessed regular customers of theirs yelling racial slurs and even physically pushing women of color out of their way and do not expect the bartender to do anything about it except continue with the bigotry. What a disgusting place to try to have a good time unless you want to be reminded of Jim Crow. read more

First I should offer that I rarely meet a dive bar that I don't like. The decor, the vibe.... This place has excellent selection of drinks. Very good bar food, though I recommend avoiding their coleslaw, and I'd skip the fries, too. Friendly atmosphere, the bartender was both friendly and attentive. read more

Now we did order takeout, but we have ordered takeout from other places in Linden and even as far as Woodbridge and we have never received food this bad. I've seen the reviews that this place was rated with extremely good food and reasonably priced but what we had was extremely disappointing. For the appetizers we had the potato pancakes, which were soggy mushy the Polish Kabasa that was extremely salty, and the pierogies which were dried out on the outside and dry on the inside. For dinners, we had the Abigail's chicken (which I don't know what kind of sauce they put all over it, but it was horrendous), the braised short ribs (there was only one whole rib with the casing still on it and had nothing but fat and grizzle), the stuffed flounder (was too extremely thin slices of flounder stuffed with what was supposed to be crab meat stuffing, but they might as well just call it stuffing because there was no crab or even crab taste), we also ordered a fourth dinner, which I cannot remember what it was, but it was again extremely disappointing. We definitely will not order from here again, whether it be going and eating in or doing takeout.
