Great bands outdoors and the food is pretty good for what it is...burgers and pizza were decent for an old man's bar and the music was great

Sunday football get together with my college buddies and we switched to Frenchy's instead of the place across the street. Typical sports bar with lots of televisions and spacious. Can't beat the prices, especially the food. Although, be prepared to pay for it the next day. Mostly frozen stuff thrown in a fryer or on the grill. The bartender was on point and service was great. Overall, we set out for a place to hang, catch up and watch football. Frenchy's was a solid choice for our needs. The field goal is good! read more

First timers at this dive bar. The bar itself was super limited, didn't have ingredients to make a mojito lol. Ended up with just a beer and a redbull and Henny, couldn't really taste the Henny so that was unfortunate. The food menu was mediocre, nothing really caught our eyes like that so just skipped on that. Our server was attentive but overall I don't think this bar had the vibes we was going for. read more

I couldn't love this place more. The owner was so personable and welcoming. Our waitress was adorable and great. Frenchys had the football package OUTDOORS which is the only place in a few towns that offers this. Couldnt recommend higher. Can't wait to come back. read more

A dive/sports bar. Big bar with some tables pushed up against it. Food was typical bar food. Pizza was so-so. Two women tended the bar cheerfully and effectively. Looked like a nice set up outside for the summer. About 10 beer on tap. Lots of TVs all around the place. I'd say add a half a star because the prices were so low. read more

Well, in fairness I didn't get to try their food. Are there other dive bars in the area that happen to be among my very favorite? Yup. But this is a nice, friendly spot in its own right, I do plan on stopping back again to experience a bite sometime and not just a drink like last time, and I can at least say that if you were passing by and decided, "Let's stop in here for a beer!", you will not have made a wrong decision and will walk away considering it a positive experience. Came on St. Patrick's Day for an after-work gathering...around 4pm. We had a great time! Fun place, total dive but loved it. Affordable drinks. Fun crowd - mixed, young & old, all nationalities. Stopped in to catch some of the giants football game on a Sunday. Or was it the Jets? Let's be real I have no idea, I was there for food and beer. But there were TVs lining the whole bar with several different games playing so if you are there for the games you're in luck! I couldn't get too wild on a Sunday so I had one white claw. Not sure what variety they had but can't do wrong with the standard black cherry. There was a full bar and the table I was had the beer pitchers flowing. Ordered chicken tenders and a pizza. Both of which came out fairly quickly and were steaming hot (I appreciate fresh bar food). There weren't servers because it was jam packed but it was very easy to order at the bar and then food was delivered to the table. A cool local spot for all your weekend sports needs! read more

Food is good but the owner is very rude and racist! We go to Frenchys often and we had never experienced such harassment from anyone as we did tonight. The owner complains about us from the moment we set foot in his parking lot. The regulars are very loud at times and even come in high. I have also witnessed some of the patrons taking pill on the premises but the owner does not seem to mind their behavior. Tonight we showed up with a few latino friends and the owner became very outraged and started talking very rudely to us as soon as we stepped foot into the parking lot. Its unbelievable that in 2020 we are still experiencing racism!! I do not recommend this to any one unless you are white. Sorry! read more

I never got a chance to experience Frenchy's atmosphere or food because of the RUDE greeting we received. My friends and I were enjoying the pizza from the insta-famous pizza spot next door. We had such an awesome customer service experience next door that this employee SCREAMING at us to get out of his driveway was jarring. My friend has a pretty small car so it wasn't blocking anything. After having the delicious pizza, we were gonna stop in for a drink if we weren't welcomed with "GET OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY OR IM CALLING THE COPS." This employee was extremely rude. I just hope the rest of the staff doesn't have his grace. But I'll never find out because I will never step foot in there. read more

Came here for Football Sunday. Very welcoming atmosphere. Tons of TVs all labeled to which team is where. 2 dollar draft beers. The "bar pie" aka PIZZA is really good. They have an outdoors area and plenty of parking available. It has tables as well, and is a large space. Airy and roomy! Discussion and debate has ensued over whether or not this is a dive. "A" feels flat screen tv's elevate a dive to bar status. I disagree and protest. Anyway lots of tvs and the usual on tap. Yuengling too. Beers $2.50 each on draft and they have take out beer available. Xmas decorations as well as last year's st pats shamrocks make the decor look like someone shopped at the dollar store. The air freshener smells like a decades old Urinal cake. I still say dive and been there done that but would come back. Oh yeah, the bartender said a scene from The Wrestler was filmed here. Cranford High School Class of 1983 held our 35th reunion at Frenchy's last night. I cannot thank Frank enough for his hospitality. We had 50 guests joining us for the night. He had this great sign made for up and set up tables and seating for the group. Everyone enjoyed music, dancing, drinks and great food. We had such a nice time. Thank you again !! read more

A few weeks ago, on a rainy weeknight I met a few friends at Frenchy's for a couple of drinks. As anyone would expect, on an "off" night in a dive/sports bar as Frenchy's is, they would have beer or mixed drink specials to lure in some customers. They didn't. I guess they are ok with having 3 people at the bar on a regular night. Hey it is a dive bar anyway right??? This night, there were 10 people thanks to our group, and I doubt they will see that many on an off night again unless they run a few specials, or other groups just so happen to stop by. I'll say Frenchy's has a decent amount of flat panel TV's, a pool table, a refrigerator section to buy beer, a huge bar, and even live entertainment planned on weekends. Maybe I'll be back another day. There are better options in the area for a few drinks however. Run some more noticeable specials and maybe a few more people will be there including myself. Very chill when I went and I enjoyed my time. Very relaxed, cheap beer and pool and cheap food that I really was in the mood for. I just came from the Sun Tavern up the road which was way overpriced and wish I had come here first. Bartender wasn't super attentive but didn't ignore me, but I don't like the reviews about rude bartenders here. However, I'd definitely come back and give it another shot. read more

This is my 'stumbling distance' bar. Very close to home, easy to walk to, and cheap cheap drinks. The bar is a full circle, which provides ample seating, plus they have a few tables outside on their patio for smokers and great weather seating. After a big dinner, my friend and I journeyed here for drinks and to watch the Rangers game on their TV. We ordered a couple of beers and watched the game, glad it was on the big screen (though no sound. The sound was for another game, and was switched to the radio soon after.) The beers were super cheap. My friend and I drank 5 beers between us, and when I closed out the check - it was for $10. I was floored. $2 Miller Lites? Yes Please! I dropped a $5 tip, $1 per beer. 20% didn't seem fair. The food looked good (curly fries, pizza, burgers - the usual pub fare) but we were so full from dinner we didn't venture into food - yet. The only issue is that since you can drink so cheap - you get a lot of rowdy drunk people. Middle aged drunk man is my favorite - he makes me laugh. Drunk 20-something girls are the worst. They're loud, obnoxious, and think everyone wants to hear their conversation and their horrible singing voice. That was the worst part about my evening. With the radio on, the girls thought it was karaoke night and were belting out whenever the mood hit them. I will definitely be patronizing this establishment regularly, especially during the nice summer when I can sit on the patio and drink cheap. Good times. read more

Was there a couple of Fridays ago and met Sharon and Katie they made a great team and did not miss a beat, even with it being insanely busy! Katie was hilarious and kept my group there for 3 hours longer than we had expected to... if I ever buy a restaurant/bar I'm gonna try to steal her away...The place is a neighborhood stomping ground that has been around for years. Have gone to this dive bar quite a few times. However on our last visit we noticed that the owner used his hands to dispense the ice into the drink glasses. When my husband asked him about it, he said he has never used an ice scoop, only his hands... Also, when the cook brought out our apps we could smell the cigarette smoke on his hands and person. Frenchies is an awesome, friendly, regular-person (of every walk of life) dive-ish bar. My boyfriend and I who aren't from Roselle just walked in on a Friday night to see all different kinds of people there. It was karaoke night, it was shame free, it was hysterical, and it was so fun. It is definitely nice to come to a bar like Frenchies every once and a while. Everyone was friendly to us. The beer is CHEAP (in regards to $), and thy have quite a few selections. I went in with a friend because of the beer specials they offered. The place was dead. There were only two other people there. The waitress was so rude. She ignored us and took forever to get us refills. I really think that she was giving us bad service on purpose because we weren't white. Her actions made it clear that she did not want us there. We stayed for about three rounds and then left. I have lived in town for 19 years and I've never had such a bad experience at a local establishment. They would've had a new customer because I thought the bar itself was really nice. read more

Bartender Gary was very very rude to me this evening. I came for the first time and he treated me as if I wasn't even there, while he chatted away with friends. He even blamed me for an incident in which I had been abused at another place he bartends at called Nugents, which is located in Elizabeth. When I complained to him about the way he treated me, after paying my tab, he threw me out of the place. I do not recommend this place! read more

I came here on Thanksgiving Eve with my boyfriend and his friends. I never would come here with my girlfriends - it is an extreme dive bar. My boyfriend described it as a bar where men go when they are angry with their wives. That being said, I didn't have high hopes, but it wasn't as bad as I expected. It is a big space, and there was a fun crowd. I loved the music - mostly country, which made me feel like I was in some Alabama honky tonk bar. The beer is very cheap - $3.50 for Bud Light bottles - so amazing. The women's bathroom was clean, but odd - two toilets in the middle of the room with a small half wall between them. Also, the pizza coming out of the kitchen looked delicious. I wouldn't come back, to be honest, because it seems like more of a man's hangout, but it was more fun than I'd expected. read more

Frenchy's (alongside Star Tavern in Orange) has my favorite pizza in Jersey. It is hands down DE-LICIOUS! The new windows on the front of the bar brighten the place up and make it feel super welcoming. There is always great music playing on the juke box, and they have live bands on the weekends. Ice cold IPA and a slice of pizza = perfect, especially when the Yanks are on TV. Great local bar w/ tons of space & a great crowd.
